Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: The ~See What A Little Wishin Can Do~ trip report
Part 14~ The second half of our day at MGM
After we finished our fun lunch at Sci-Fi Cafe we turned the corner and saw Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc. Once it was our turn to get a picture, Sully tried to put his arm around Dakota and whopped Mikaela in the eye. She handled it pretty well, it just surprised her a little.
Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular was about to start so we went in and got some seats. The kids really liked this show, especially Dakota. There was a crazy little bird on the stage as the explosives were going off, I guess he wanted to be a part of the show. I was getting so exhausted at this point that I dozed off a little during it.
Star Tours was next on our list, Mikaela loved it so much we wanted to get it in one last time on this trip. After we got off, we stopped in the Star Wars store and looked around at all of the Star Wars stuff. I like the Mickey Jedi big figure, it’s cute. We picked up the small Mickey and Luke figure for Kory’s brother.
It was almost time for Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme stunt show so we went to get our seats. Dakota and Kory really enjoyed this…the girls weren’t into it quite as much, but it was interesting to watch. I like the joke before the show starts about Voyage of the Little Mermaid, that was funny!!
Kory and Dakota went over to get us seats for Fantasmic. Mariah really wanted to do The Great Movie Ride one last time. This time we sat in the second row back, so Mariah just missed being the one that the cast member says “What chu lookin at” to. There was a family with a little girl in front of us, who was in complete hysterics the whole time on the ride. I felt so bad for her.
We went to see Fantasmic one last time and I made sure to get it on video. I love this show!!
After Fantasmic was over I realized that I had our itinerary wrong *not possible* and it was actually evening magic hours. The girls were pretty exhausted by this point, but we talked them into letting Kory and Dakota ride Rock N Roller Coaster, and hopefully me and Dakota ride Tower of Terror one last time. We went to get our wristbands and Kory and Dakota got in line for Rock N Roller Coaster. They took the best picture…it cracks me up. By the time they finished everyone was just worn out, and I decided to not do Tower of Terror. It’s my favorite, but I will do it next time so no big deal.
Memories of our 7th day…
The weather today was…warm and sunny, high 80’s, needed a jacket at night for Fantasmic.
The best thing today was…enjoying everything with the kids on our last day at MGM.
The worst thing today was…taking Mariah on Tower of Terror (sorry honey)
The funniest thing today was…Kory and Dakota’s picture on Rock N Roller Coaster
Today we tried…Sci-Fi Café and the result was…we had a great time, the food was good and the kids loved the glow in the dark ice cubes!!
The most magical moment today was…Fantasmic ( I love it!!)
Next up...Our last full day

Re: The ~See What A Little Wishin Can Do~ trip report
Part 15~ Our last full day…
It was our last full day and we went to Epcot. When we were here before we finished the World Showcase so today we decided to spend our time in Future World.
We went straight over to Spaceship Earth. It was a 5 minute wait, so we were on pretty quick. Mikaela was a little scared at first, I think she thought that it would be like Space Mountain.
After Spaceship Earth we went over to Mission Space, Mariah decided she was not up for the ride to Mars, so Kory and Dakota went on it. Mariah and Mikaela played in the little water play area. Mikaela had her first Mickey bar, yummy!! After Kory and Dakota finished there ride they came over to get us to show us the play area at the end of Mission Space, the girls had a fun time playing in there.
We spotted Innoventions West and went to take a peak in there, except it ended up being much longer. The kids had a great time trying out all of the games and the exhibits. The kids were having so much fun that they would have spent a huge amount of time in here if we let them.
It was time for our fast passes for Test Track. We all went on this one. Everyone had a great time on it until we got to the part where it looks like you are going to run into the wall. It really scared Mikaela. The rest of us really liked this ride, we will make sure and do it again when we come back. We spotted out the kidcot station and headed over there to calm down Mikaela. I didn’t know that they had kidcot stations in Future World. Dakota and Kory liked to look at all of there “dream cars” keep dreamin boys!!
Everyone was getting hungry so we went to get some pizza at the stand next to Cool Wash. The kids loved playing in the water at the Cool Wash station. I love how it looks like a car wash.
As we were walking around we saw Minnie’s Butterfly Garden. I love the Minnie, and butterfly topiaries. The kids had a good time looking at all of the butterflies.
There was a play structure out in front of Minnie’s Butterfly Garden and Mariah and Mikaela went to play on it. There are little steal parts on it that hold the ropes together, and Mikaela burned her ear on it. My poor munchkin, she was having a hard morning.
We walked through one of the stores, the kids had a great time trying on all of the hats.
The next thing on our “must do” list was Turtle Talk with Crush. There was a long line so we made ourselves comfortable and sat and waited. What a cute and funny show, Crush is sure quick on his fins to come up with some of the things that he says. One of the kids asked Crush if he tasted like chicken, he paused and got the funniest look on his face and said “dude…I hope not!!”
After the show Dakota and Mikaela went to get there picture with…I mean “in” Bruce. Hey Bruce, we are friends, NOT food!!
Next up...fountain fun
