As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Dawn, Sorry they couldn't use your idea's to help the MR. Some time's they don't realize somethings good even if it hits them in the face. Maybe you can find out who to send it to to get it approved. And I'm glad the girls are standing strong for you and you can see they understand how much you have had to put up with from DH.And yes as others have posted please check out the Rule's for Ohio etc as far as Divorce or separation before DH catches on to any plans, We don't want him to send you and curve balls. to you getting a PI or other position soon and also for the accident victims,as my family members were at WDW this weekend and said it was a bad accident. Ahhhhhh, a day off. Much needed, esp since I'm facing 10 days with NO days off starting tomorrow!
Yesterday, I was scheduled in the games MR until 10pm, then moving to the cash MR side. A CM who is notorious for calling in showed up, so they bumped me out of games MR and into the store for the day, which was fine with me. There are a few people in life that I just don't jive with and she's one of them. I was due in at 5, but got there at 430 since costuming didn't take as long as I thought, so they asked me to start early. Sure! More money in my paycheck! It was a fun day, out on some carts, sprinkling some pixie dust on vouchers and in the shop where a Passporter Peep came to say hello! She told me that she's more of a lurker, but we {heart} ALL of our Passporter Peeps!!! (Hope you didn't get too chilly today!) She had her DH and DD along and they made my day stopping to say hello!
I didn't get into the MR until 1030 and the other CM was still there. Urg. I have to keep telling myself that we're all a team, we're family, we're fellow CMs, we're diverse, we're tolerant, we're... You get the idea. I was scheduled off at 1230am, but we didn't get done until 1.
I was off today and DDs were wired when I got home last night, so we didn't get to bed until almost 3am. We slept until noon, ahhhhhhhhhh! I pulled out all of our scrapbooking stuff and we worked on some little projects for awhile before I took DDs to Claire's. They had money and a gift certificate burning a hole. We came back and scrapbooked some more before dinner. We watched Bolt while we ate (hadn't seen it before, cute movie, but a little too violent for my/their tastes). After dinner, we played Slamwich (card game), then watched an episode of Good Eats and Food Detectives before heading to bed. It was a jam-packed day, but fun and sorta relaxing. My scrapping project wasn't as inspired as I would have liked, but since it's the first time I've scrapped since November, I'm a little rusty!
We coordinated schedules this evening and I found out that 20yo picked up a shift at my store on Thursday...we'll be going in and working together all day. It could be interesting! Actually, I know her well enough to know she'll put on her Disney face/voice and charm them all.
7 more days and we should start hearing about extensions... Still no word on any of the PIs that I had left
Sorry for the dissappointment with the charts you created for the MR - sometimes it amazes me how businesses run, especially when someone comes up with an idea that would make productivity so much better yet they stick to the old methods with the excuse of the "process" and getting something improved. I really think it has to do with someone not wanting to admit that someone else's idea is better.
Glad you had an enjoyable day off, you definitely deserve it. Hope everything comes through with the extension, hope to hear good news soon.
Dawn, we'll be there for a short trip starting..er..well TONIGHT! haha We are pretty sure we'll be at the AK on Easter morning. We might also go to the AK tomorrow or Friday. Hopefully we'll see you.
