10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 86 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! Luck was on my side by choosing the right side path to Discovery Island and not the left! I enjoyed her performance and quite the sight to see! Enjoyed my day and still some more in AK to come!

Glad you enjoyed the photos and they came out quite clear! It's just a matter of luck and timing of running into her as that's the first time in many times to the AK. This is my 13th trip to WDW and probably at least 20 times to the AK.

I finally got all caught up with your last few updates! I really enjoy staying at the Epcot resorts because of the opportunity to go back to the room so easily for an afternoon nap/break. We actually used the Friendship Boats more this past October than we ever had because of the heat/humidity that we experienced but also the construction going on at DHS made the walking path more difficult to traverse. Glad you enjoyed your meal so much at Blue Zoo as it looked so appetizing and your server sounded very attentive! I'm sad your TR is coming to a close.

That's what I like about the Epcot resorts as well even though more expensive but the Swan and Dolphin are more reasonable compared to the other three. So convenient to get to Epcot and Studios and come back for a break. I enjoyed Blue Zoo and glad I gave it another try thanks to Cheryl's very positive review. I'm sad it's winding down too. Probably about 7 more updates. Just need to get these done and posted before December 31st when the forums come to a close!
I don't use Facebook but I'm quite I will begin using it and post my TRs over there! I'm sure it won't be tough to use with posting photos as I think you can do it directly from your PC or PB or Flikr without the 3rd party sharing. I'm sure I won't be renewing my PB for this option. Just for storage.
Hoping I can an invite from Cam and Cheryl for their PP groups! We need to keep the PP Community Alive!!!

What a blow this week with the announcement that these boards are closing on December 31st. So, sad to hear this but I can understand this with the problems Jennifer and Dave have had with the system upgrades recently. I’ve enjoyed everyone here so much since September, 2008 when I first joined. I’ve made a lot of good PP friends and many of you I have met on various WDW get togethers including the Decade of Dreams in 2009. I’ve gathered so much great information and tips for planning these trips over the years from many of you on the board threads. I will miss this board so much! I’m glad Jennifer and Cheryl have found us new homes for our TRs over on FB and I will be posting my future ones over there.
Also a few of you have started your own groups for your TRs and I have been frequenting them already since I joined FB yesterday.
On to the TR with my next update. I should complete this before the board shuts down as I have about 7 updates left!
Will I Wind Up Ending My Day Here in The Best Possible Way?
Friday, October 13th (Part II) As I left Dinoland, you probably have a good idea where I was heading as my teaser gives a bit of a hint. And yes, I was going to Pandora and for my first experience with Flight of Passage. With, this in mind will I wind up ending my day here in the best possible way? The standby waits for this new attraction have been insane since it opened and the reviews have been spectacular as many have said it’s the best ride experience they’ve ever had. So, we’ll see as that’s a lot to live up to and hope it’s spot on!
I walked through Discovery Island and crossed the bridge over into Pandora. It’s an amazingly themed part of Animal Kingdom as I took in so much of its’ beauty quite slowly and got so many photos. My window was now open for Flight of Passage, but I wasn’t in any hurry as I wanted to explore this area even more and of course that means many more photos, many of these I also took a few days ago, but that’s all fine.
The beauty of this new land is startling as even though I took my time observing all of this, there is so much you notice the second time around. I’m sure you will notice new things on each visit.
I arrived at the Flight of Passage entrance and saw the posted standby time was listed at 95 minutes. Not horrible compared to some of the much longer waits I’ve heard about. But, it’s still longer than I’d wait for any attraction, no matter how good it may be! Before entering the queue and scanning my MagicBand, I did more exploring as there was so much I wanted to get photos of.
Part of the FOP ride queue up there
Love this water area
I entered the FP+ line and scanned my MagicBand. I entered the queue and made my way towards the top. I took my time walking up here as there was more to see along the path leading up to the attraction. I got some more photos before entering the main part of the queue.
Great view and so beautiful!
I entered inside a cave like structure, which was the main part of the queue. There were lines inside, but they seemed to move rather well. I didn’t take much for photos and don’t remember most of this area. I do remember being assigned various lines to enter to break up the groups. One was this long dark concrete hallway. We entered another room and got our 4D glasses and were assigned a numbered spot to stand on. From there we proceeded to another room for a video presentation in which we were assigned a character for our banshee ride in a very modern way by computer technology. I don’t know how else to explain it.
Now it was time for the ride and I got on my banshee. It was like getting on a motorcycle, I suppose. I didn’t have trouble settling myself into position, but I know others have. We were told not to put on the glasses until it was time.
This is the ride vehicle. You rest your head against the top part and lean forward.
Shortly, the ride began and what a ride and experience it was! It’s a simulator ride like Soarin’ would be, but you can’t see anything outside of your vision, which made it more amazing, specialized and on an individual basis. Flying through the beautiful land of Avatar was amazing and thrilling in every way, with lots of dips, fast speeds (in feeling) and so much more. It was a longer ride than I thought and I didn’t want it to end. The action was non-stop and this is certainly the best sim ride I’ve ever been on and one of the best overall! I don’t know how you can top this! I wanted to ride again, but getting another FP+ was extremely unlikely and I didn’t want to wait standby. I will just have to wait for my next WDW trip!
After exiting FOP, I entered the gift shop and I looked around. It was well themed too. I didn’t buy anything but saw some interesting things.
After this, I was certainly hungry as it was nearly 3 pm and I had yet to have lunch. The plan was to check out Satu’li Canteen for the first time as the reviews have generally been good. Although, it’s counter service, so I wasn’t expecting anything amazing. I walked over to the eatery, which was very close by. I know this is one of the CS eateries that you can place your order through the MDE app. I tried this but it wasn’t working that well, so I headed inside to place my order at the counter.
I like the idea of this and it’s like you’re creating your own dish. I went with the sliced grilled beef, red and sweet potato hash and the charred onion chimichurri sauce. It’s also served with cole slaw. I also ordered a Stella draft.
The finished product
Overall, it was quite good but I think the sauce could have had more flavor. I think this is the one that goes with this dish as chimichurri goes with beef. Other than that, I was quite happy with my choice. I enjoyed this and it filled me up. Not to worry, as dinner is nearly five hours away. I will certainly return again.
Nice theming inside this eatery
After finishing up at Satu’li Canteen, my day was over in the Animal Kingdom and I began to head towards the park exit. It was quite an active day and I got to see and do many things.
Once I arrived at the bus depot outside the Animal Kingdom, the wait was a bit under ten minutes and not too bad. One thing I noticed, while waiting was how humid it had become from earlier. Clouds were starting to roll in as heavy showers were in the forecast and approaching the Orlando area!
It took a while to get back to the Dolphin as there were stops at the Swan and one of the other Epcot resorts. There was also a lot of traffic as it was the beginning of rush hour, which doesn’t help. I arrived back at the Dolphin around 4:45 pm.
NEXT: That Was Just So Cool!

Yes, it's been quite the few days with the announcement about the boards. However, I am so glad you've joined us over on Facebook and will be posting your future trip reports there.
Great photos of Pandora. Isn't Flight of Passage amazing? Even though it messed with both our heads and we'll probably never ride it again because of that, I'm glad we got to experience it.
I'm so glad you enjoyed FOP! We got to ride it twice on our trip, well I did, and the 2nd time I got tears in my eyes on just how beautiful the scenery was.
