As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: LizardCop\'s semi-live updates at Mousefest.....
Sorry folks, no pics in this one. Haven't had time to sort through them yet
Well.....
Thursday started out good.....
And it wasn't a bad day
After posting my mini-trip report update, we got going. Showered, dressed (this is always a good thing when going out in public), gathered our stuff and headed for MK. For some reason I had 9:30 in my head for our CP time (you already know where this is going, don't you?). We're on the bus, pulling out of POP, headed for MK and my phone rings. It's 8:22 and Tara is calling me. "Where ya at?" she says. "On the bus" I says. Ummmmm... "Tara, when's our PS?" "8:20" "OOps"
We didn't make it, but that apparently allowed Terri and running buddy Cheryl to sit with the rest of the gang instead of sitting close to them...
So's we ride the bus to MK, get there, and get a locker as we've got stuff for the Guide Event later and we're planning on not leaving the park all day...
Anyway, we grab a hot chocolate, I drop in and let then rest of the folks know we're in the park and Jan and I wander off to Tomorrowland.
Now, I'm gonna give you fair warning right now. In Tomorrowland, I got a picture taken with Stitch. I don't know what this little fella did, but there will be photos showing up later alleging to be me and I was smiling. I want you to know now, it's not me and I don't know anything about this...
After the pic, I got my booty kicked at Buzz, then we meandered back to the group who should be getting done with breakfast.
We meet up and the girls (and Mark) and head for Pooh. I made a side trip and met up with them as they were getting to the ride. It appears they were "meeting with some characters" before they got to Pooh. Jan and I were going to sit the ride out when Cheryl (chezp) jumped over the chains and drug us in
From there the girls went into Pooh playland to see the inside of the tree. Then we headed for HM. We had a little bit of a wait as Tara had to go back to her room for something and was on the way back. She got there, we did HM and all came back out. We looked at the newest resident to the pet cemetary, then headed off to Fantasmic. On the way, many stopped and got Fast Passes for Peter Pan. Fantasmic was great, as usual. Then the rest of the group headed for IASM then they planned to do Peter. Jan and I headed for the Noodle Station in Tomorrowland to meet with Dave and Jennifer.
We grabbed some lunch then spent the next few hours with the other guides there on an adventure set up by Dave and Jennifer.
That completed, Cheryl (chezp) and Jan headed for BTMRR while Mark and I guarded the bags
Mark and Cheryl headed for LTT for their PS's with everyone else while Jan and I headed for the locker to change out some things. We got our arm bands for MVMCP and we hit Casey's Corner for dinner.
That done we headed for Tomorrowland to wait for MVMCP. We did hit Buzz again and I got whupped up on again. Coming out we met up with Marie (CRCrazy) and her daughter Sarah, they were behind us on the ride. They were going to ride it again, it was 6PM, but they closed everything down to clear the parks out for MVMCP.
In the past, the rides were still open and if you had your arm band, you could ride between 6 and 7. This time they closed everything down, including the shops. Really strange. Fortunately, they left the bathrooms open so we headed there
Buzz opened back up at 6:30 so Jan and I headed there again and I got whupped again...
By this time we headed for the Liberty Bell for the Buddy Ride Meet!!!
While headed that way, I hear a "I know him" and look over to see a couple of Passporters. It was CalderCup and ZacksMom. It's nice to be famous Hugs and intro's, then they headed off to return in a little for the buddy ride meet...
Got to the bell and one group had already left for HM (early ), so we waited for the rest to show up. Got a big group there, got a couple of fast pictures (unfortunately none with my camera) and they were off. Splash was the #1 ride, it was cool folks and I don't do wet and cold if I don't have to. While watching some bags, Jan and Sheila headed for BTMRR. They got 2 rides in and were headed back for #3 before the group from Splash finally got done. That group headed for BTMRR and then got back to where I was. It was time for me to head to the 8:45 meet, The "hosts" were gonna try to get there by 8:30. I made it, as did a few others, but there was a parade going on and things were a little slow moving.
We didn't get one "group" picture, too many people and not enough space. I believe we did get pictures of everyone that was there, eventually... I'll post some as soon as I can...
After MVMCP Wishes, many scattered again. Some for the free photo (the lines were long and Jan and I didn't get one, again), many for more rides. We hooked up with Tara, Katie, Donna, Paige and Angie. The girls did Aladin's carpets, then Tara, Donna and the girls headed for Splash. Angie headed back for the late parade spot, Jan and I were a little behind her.
A group of PP'ers were gathered to watch the late parade, and we had fun. The parade was great, I videotaped it as well as Wishes earlier so I'll pull photos from that for the full blown trip report..
After the parade, most everyone headed for the exit. Mark and Cheryl gave us a ride back to Pop and dropped us off at midnight out front
I'll try to sort the pics later and drop a couple in.
Today's open for us, we may head for MGM in a little to see if we can find a Rock-n-Roller Coaster rider for Jan
