Six months and counting…But will I be able to walk by then? My Disney hopes and Fantasy wishes PTR - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well, it’s been a while since I posted. I have to admit that I’ve been extremely busy. With dad’s Alz mostly. He’s great one moment and then the switch flips and I don’t know who he is and why he is so angry all of a sudden. It’s frustrating but one thing I do know is that I really need this vacation.
So what have I been up too all this time? Well…trying to ready myself for this trip. I’m knee deep into my Fish Extender creativity and have been trying to put them together. I want things to be nice and I’m trying not to overdo this time around. Dan of course poo-poo’s the whole thing. (Is that even a word??? Lol.) I have my bags strategically set and I have removed a lot of stuff I had planned on packing. Still we have 3 suitcases and 2 carry-ons but I’m trying to cut it down. Those pirate outfits really take up a lot of room. I could probably use a small suitcase just for them and forget about those hats. I bought another dress but haven’t decided weather it will be for this cruise. I have learned from experience that if you see it and like it better grab it now or it will be gone.
So….the Disney part of our trip is now paid in full. I’ve been trying to nail Dan down long enough to take his measurements for his tux but he’s been out straight with work and when he’s not he likes to relax at home in front of the tube or play a video game.
I celebrated my birthday on the 20th. Dan and Heather got me an adorable little cake since I didn’t want much which would sabotage my diet. It was cute, a small center cake surrounded by 10 little mini cupcakes and all chocolate which absolutely made my day. Heather’s birthday is in a couple of weeks so we decided for diet sake that we would go out to dinner in honor of the two of us, most likely Labor Day weekend. Dan will have that Sunday off so it will be nice for all of us. One meal…back to diet. It’s a set back of a couple of days but we’re worth it. My birthday cake
Now I want to come back to what is in part the title of this PTR…“will I be able to walk?” The answer is yes. A matter of fact, I am also driving again so Dan’s and Heather’s days of being my chauffeur have ended. I can get a little sore in the late evening but all I need to do is put up my foot and rest a few before I am good to go again. It has been just a few days past eight months since my injury but on the night of the 18th I sat on my sofa and stared at my heels like a Jedi warrior using the force. I needed to psyche myself out I guess. I slipped my feet into those heels and stood up like a new born fawn. To my surprise my foot felt better elevated in heels than in flats. I walked around the house and I was fine. So…I will be able to wear heels for this cruise. Maybe not for hours…but just enough so I can wear my gown and feel good about how I look. Yeah….no flip flops.
I bought Heather a really cute pair of espadrille wedges from PayLess. They make her about 6 ft. 2 inches tall. Problem is that the strap snapped why she was wearing them around the house which give a whole new meaning to breaking in. I brought them back and had to reorder in a different color but even Heather admits that’s she’s a bit leery now.
I called Disney with our flight info for the DME. Next on my list, Dan’s tux, ship gifts and oh yes….ordering my cakes. I ran this by Dan who I left completely out of the loop and he is fine…with mini cakes…nothing huge. I even showed him my virtual cakes and he loved them all. Now let’s hope that I will get what I want this time.
One thing I need to look into is our “Water view”, room at POFQ. I read that WV could mean overlooking a noisy pool and I know we wouldn’t be happy with that. A slight view of the river, a fountain…but not the pool. Have any of you heard this? Should I be concerned? Would it be to late to try and upgrade to a River View? Am I stressing for nothing? Lol!!!
Well we will definitely be trying on our Pirate costumes this weekend and I will post pic’s. In the meantime I have to get my act in gear and get my FE gifts finished. Last year I was done months in advance…this year…hardly started. But I’ll get there. Next….Those Pirate costumes pictures I’ve been promising….

We had a river view room the last time, and it was just a tiny corner of the water from a strained angle out the window. It was highly disappointing. The rest of the view was of a path around the building. I don't think you can really get too close to the noisy main pool, but you could have a view of the quiet pools.
Glad to hear you are healing and can walk!!!! You've got the idea - go slowly and don't press it. Plans sound great! Can't wait to see pirate costume pics!
