As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Jen, you are such a trooper! Love all the breakfast pics, sooo cute!!
Thank you! Kent was amused that I have spent so much time in DLR on narcotics between this trip and the one in May after I fractured a bone in my foot. What a mess I am!!
We slept in the next morning and then I took a little extra time to organize the clean clothes and get us kind of ready to pack later that night. My pain level was not great but not as bad as the end of the previous day. I brought plenty of medicine along and we hoped for the best.
The parks opened late this morning but we had magic morning to get us in an hour early. We got through the gates in headed towards Fantasyland when we found that Ethan had lost his croc. I went back and did not see it. Kent took the boys to ride and I headed back to lost and found truly not expecting to find it. Kent texted me to say what rides they were on as I waited to see if they had E’s shoe. They asked me to describe it. Umm…..blue…and ah.....crocy? What else can I say? They asked who was on it. OHHH! Well either Lighting Mcqueen or Mater depending on which one of the Jibbitz guys was on they one we lost. Sure enough they had it!!! I was thrilled since we had all several days left of our trip and I did not want to have to buy another pair or go without either. The boys were waiting in line for Dumbo after finishing up Pinocchio. I made it over just in time to see them take off! We headed over to Snow White next, then Peter Pan and Pinocchio again before we headed over to Tomorrowland. As we passed the castle I saw out of the corner of my eye Snow White heading to her wishing well. We stopped and let Ty chat with her and I got an autograph. There were not other guests for a few minutes so we really got to spend some nice time.
We got a round on Buzz before our Magic Morning ended and we were hungry. We went and got cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate. The weather was cool and misting and the hot chocolate was perfect. The boys and Kent wanted to go do IASW so I went off to get some shopping in with the plan to meet up with them after. I don’t have much in my notes about what I bought expect for some Halloween costume items. I was still working out what the boys would be and cowboys were an option at one point. I got Ethan a hat that fit his little head and some badges as well. (As a sidenote Ty ended up being a pirate and Ethan was a Lightning Mcqueen pit crew) I wandered past POTC and there was no wait at all but the boys had finished IASW and hopped on the train so I decided to hold off.
By the time we met back up the boys were ready for a meal. We stopped at Pizza Port (or Pizza Planet to Ty). Ethan fell asleep on me almost right away so we saved some pizza for him and the rest of us filled up on pizza and pasta and salad. Ty wanted to ride on the Nemo Submarines but with Ethan back in the stroller we could not take him, so Kent and Ty went to see about the wait on Nemo while I wandered around with a sleeping cutie. The wait was only 20 minutes so on they went!! I had gone over to see if the characters were out at Pooh Corner and if my Eeyore was there. He was!!!
We all went through the line and as I came to Eeyore I told him how he was my Fav and how I love him and could I get an autograph please. He motioned for me to put my book down on the wall behind him. I thought this was odd cus I know is not what he usually does. He started to sign but then I saw he was drawing…and drawing ….and drawing and then he signed. He did a whole drawing of himself and signed. I gave him extra hugs and thanked him a ton. Meanwhile (this took a few extra minutes) my boys had a mini party with Tigger around the corner. It was awesome and magical and I love my sweet Donkey!!!!!
The boys ran and played up in the treehouse for quite a while and then we did jungle cruise. We headed over to DCA to finish the shopping that was cut short the day before and then onto Bugsland. We did all the rides there and then over to Jumping Jellyfish and the Zepher.
We went out to hit WoD so we could pack those purchases and stopped to pick up dinner at Tortilla Joes so we could all eat while I pack us up back at the room. While I was packing we could kind of see and hear a little bit of World of Color from our balcony. It was very cool.

Best picture ever!!! Naturally, I'm a bit of a donkey fan myself. I have yet to have a trip to WDW without hugging that big lug! BTW, glad you found the other shoe! Been there, done that.....

We planned to check out in the morning and spend the morning and early afternoon in the parks and then head down to San Diego.
We got up nice and early and showered and packed the last of things. I took extra meds with me as I could feel the pain creeping in. We checked out and had the valet bring up the car to pack and as Kent went to park it in Self Park for the morning I went to the business center to fedex our car keys to our house sitter who was picking us up in our car at the airport. I had forgot to leave them for her. The CM at the business center was very helpful and I don’t remember the exact cost but I know it was way less than I thought I should be. I kept asking him to be sure it was going overnight, I am sure he thought I was crazy. Just as I finished up with that Kent and Ty met up with Ethan and I and off we went to Carnation Café for breakfast.
We said hi to our fav mouse on the way into DL!!
We usually eat at Carnation Cafe on our last morning and this time we got to meet Oscar and he told us what beautiful and well-behaved boys we had. Yay!! We did Buzz with no wait at all a couple last times. At this point my pain was getting very bad and I was having a hard time enjoying myself again. We decided to leave and get on the road. I hated to leave our happy place but I needed to rest.
At this point I was pretty sure that on top of the kidney stone I was getting a urinary tract infection. (sorry for TMI) This happens a lot with stones I guess but I never get those kinds of infections, so I was in denial a little bit. Once we got the car and we drove through somewhere and got some lunch for the boys I reclined my seat and napped a little bit.
I woke up in HORRIBLE pain!!! I needed to take another pill/pills right away. I went to drink the soda that we got at the drive thru but Kent had finished it all. The boys had finished all their water too! My pain pills are uncoated not small pills that I did not think I could get down dry. Kent said we were very close to the hotel so I said to hurry. I seriously did the breathing I learned I childbirth classes. Every minute seemed like an hour. Then Kent went the wrong way in the loop near Seaworld. I was crying at this point and Ty was holding my hand telling me it was ok. Finally we got to the hotel and Kent went in to check us in and get me anything to drink. They had ice water with lemon right at the check in desk!! He brought some out to me and I took some (a lot ) medicine.
Kent went back and asked for an upgraded room (this was our plan) and they had just what we wanted for a small added price. A Bayside Suite I believe it was called. To book it outright was much more expensive than risking it and doing the upgrade at check in. Of course we would not have done this during high season or over a weekend even. We were checking in on Wednesday and leaving on Saturday.
Kent told them his wife was very sick and could we get into our room RIGHT away? They said no problem and the guy even hopped in a golf cart so we could follow him in our car and not get lost in the big complex. I was still breathing and praying for some relief. Our room was prefect and the guy helped bring in all the luggage and I rested on the bed. Slowly the pain lessened. I went to the bathroom and based on how that felt I knew I had a UTI. So as Kent got us a little settled I went online to find an urgent care nearby. There was one only minutes away so off we went. Sure enough…UTI. They gave me antibiotics and a med for the additional pain from the infection plus more pain pills incase I was running out. We went to the Target Pharmacy to fill it. They were busy and said it would be an hour!!!! Come on!!! So we shopped for snacks and stuff. Since I was feeling so badly we stocked up on comfort (aka unhealthy) snacks and treats for me. Kent was so sweet saying anything I wanted I was getting!!!! Finally got my meds and left, stopping to pick up dinner at El Pollo Loco for roast chicken and tortillas.
Our room was awesome. We had a full sized table and chairs to eat at like a family, which was nice. It also had a mini kitchen area with a small sink and fridge and microwave. It may have had a tiny stovetop as well but my memory is a little fuzzy. The boys and Kent went out for a little bit before we ate to play at the beach; which was right outside our door. We had a shared fire-pit and some beach chairs out there too. The resort had firewood and s’mores packs that you could buy and I knew the boys would love that!!! The resort also offered sailboat or motorboat rental and had a good-looking restaurant.
Taken from the kitchen area, the blue couch turns into a bed that Ty will sleep on.
The same room taken from the hallway leading to the bedroom and bathrooms. If you look outside where the grass ends....that is sand baby!! Since this is mission bay it is super calm and shallow. Perfect for kiddos.
This is our room and tot he right is a sick area with a double sink and leading to the shower/tub/potty room and on the other side of that a single sink room with a closet. So lots of space to spread out. Ethan slept in our room on his travel toddler bed.
We had planned to do the Wild Animal Park the next day but there was no chance we could do that with how I was feeling. So we switched things up and planned to spent the day at the resort and let me eat and rest and take medicine.
This is hard for me as a planner girl to let fun plans go by the wayside in order for me to take meds and sleep on the couch but what other choice did we have. Also this resort was amazing so worst case we spend three days playing here. Not a bad deal truly. My glass is half full gosh darn it!
Minnie, what was the name of the hotel you stayed at while you were down here is San Diego? I am trying to remember where it is located. The only one I can think of is the Hilton San Diego Bay Resort.
Oh my goodness, you poor thing. I hope you started to feel better after this awful installment - my heart went out to you, reading it.
Thank you. This was the worst of it thank goodness.

It is the Paradise Point Resort and Spa. It is gorgeous and the service was about as close to Disney as possible. I will be posting more pics of the grounds and such in my next update. We booked the original basic room through Hotwire (after Kent figured out which one was tis hotel) and we paid a small amount for the upgrade so we got a great deal on an amazing room.

I'm glad you were still able to squeeze in a little more Disney before heading out. Your resort sure sounded amazing! At least you got the upgraded room in which to rest and relax. Sounds like that's exactly what you needed.
