Wise Women, Good Looking Men and Way Cool Teens - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Okay, so I have totally missed this one up to now!!! Dummy me kept waiting for the pre-trip report to turn into the TR!! I haved loved catching up, but woefully have missed adding some of my pics and thoughts in. So sorry I ddn't find this when you started it, E. I may gather my thoughts and add a few pics a little later. Gret TR!!!!!
(PS - Thanks Diz for giving me the kick in the b*** to look elsewhere for the report!!)
add your photos now, please! i don't believe there is a rule against it and i would love to see them!
Okay, so before E gets to MY last day on the trip, I think I will add a few thoughts and pictures. First off, let me just say that this was the most amazing trip! I met so many new, old friends. It constantly amazes me that one can “meet” someone for the first time and feel like they have known each other all of their lives! PassPorters are just the most awesome people in the world! And just remember , E – you gave me permission for this take-over!!
I had an uneventful flight and a great DME ride next to the cutest couple bringing their young (maybe 3 or 4 yr old) daughter for her first trip to Disney. Thanks to ideas here on the boards, I had done some thank you cards and gifts to hand out on the trip. I had the BEST time surprising people with them. The first ones went to the flight crew at the end of the flight there. They were so cute in receiving them. I also gave a little gift to the darling little girl that sat on her father’s lap next to me on DME (sorry for the sticky candy cane). At check in, I was able to by-pass the extremely long line and go straight to the online window. I was checked in toot suite and headed to my room when that same couple grabbed me and asked me how I had done it!! Turns out they had done online check-in, too so I pointed out the empty online window. My little version of Magic. How wonderful!!!!!
I found my room – in the midst of wonderfully decorated mini-cheerleader windows - put up my tiny little decorations, and headed to MK for the first of my many “firsts”, lunch at CP. Not much to add here except one of my absolute favorite pictures of the trip:
E and E
OH!! And the first of my pictures of bathrooms around the world.
CP BR
This was E’s assignment to me. I did okay with it but missed a lot when I was entering too quickly to stop!
The Dessert Party (another first) was a blast. E and I agreed, we had the best seats in the house!!! But by the time it was done, my contact lenses and I were also done!! Good thing Disney offers buses. I couldn’t even see to do any shopping before I left.
Court’s personality shines through early!
Friday was another day of “firsts” for me. First time getting to wander through Epcot and see the things I wanted to stop and look at, first time eating at Chef’s, first time renting a car at the Car Care Center (HIGHLY recommend it!!! SO EASY!), first time taking a tour of different resorts while being a bit sneaky, first time meeting Diz (!!), and first time for the International Dinner. Here are some of my pictures of the day!
Beignets for Sheila!
Canada BR
Chef’s BR
I absolutely love these next two, taken at the International Dinner
E and DBF dancing
S and DH dancing
Illuminations Dinner BR (impressive, huh?)
After the party, I loved meeting up with Y (didn’t get to spend NEAR enough time with you!!), but sadly I spent a lot of that time on the phone with DH and didn’t take any pictures.

Saturday came with more “firsts” (noticing a theme here?). First time wearing my Birthday Button (had to stick with Courtney. I had been warned about this breakfast!), first meal at Whispering Canyon, first time forgetting my camera for the trip to AK (okay, so not a great first and one I still kick myself for!!), first quest to meet a legend, first meal at O’Hana, first boat ride to DTD, and first Dole Whip.
I think this was my attempt at the WCC BR – although I missed the door!!
AK BR taken w/ cell phone.
Court and the Chef
O’Hana BR
My 1st Dole Whip and YES – it’s GREEN!!
Adventureland BR (4)
Sunday was no different in the land of “firsts”! First time at Blues Brothers', first Gospel Brunch, first meeting of a PP legend (thanks for the effort Gray!!), first time in several resorts as I finished my sneaky mission, first (second and third) official PassPorter Meet, and first meeting of a PP guru (so excited to have met Jennifer and Alex).
DTD BR
I have put in a number of Blues Brother's Pics since E and DBF didn't do this one.
Amazing Gospel Singer
Court and I on stage being “birthday girls”
WAIT!! Is that Aub, I see? YAY!!!
Blues Brothers' BR
LOVE this shot at 50's Prime Time!! Gotta post it again!
I think that gets me all caught up! I can’t wait to see the next installment, E! Thanks for letting me add my bit.

I've been struggling with how to write a comment to this trip report (I started it last night and ended up reading until midnight with my iPhone in bed! .) It's just that I have been so very touched by the relationship you all have developed through Passporter. You can just tell in all the things you do for each other and others that you all are such sweet, caring people. And it just makes me want to stand up and cheer that you all came together because of this board. Thanks so much for letting us share on this trip where you all got to meet as a big group for the first time. I'm only sorry that I didn't get to spend more time with all of you while I was there (and unfortunately I think I didn't get to meet some of you at all!) Can't wait to hear the rest of the story and looking forward to many more pearls over the years from you wise, wise women!
