Our Magical New York Wedding-- a Pixie Dusted Wedding and Honeymoon Report! - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thanks so much! I have so much more to tell so I am glad you made it over when you did! (And notice I havent been posting in the title when I update so I dont have to be such a nudge and bother you guys all the time! lol!)
So, Ive been tired and cranky lately and then I watched this movie called "P.S. I Love You" which was totally sad and I sobbed and texted Rob 10x at work to tell him how much I love him and how lucky we are... and I started thinking about wedding stuff and I realized I FORGOT about the update! I FORGOT to tell you guys that I ordered my DRESS! and I FORGOT to tell you where we booked our honeymoon!!!
In any case, Davids Bridal was a lot of fun because you get your own consultant and our girl was very cute and fun. She wanted me to look through this book and I just said to her, "How about you pick out dresses that you think would look best on me? I want to be the hottest girl in the room on my wedding day!" LOL!
My grandmas came with us, my mom, niece, sister, and cousin. Rob's sister could not get off of work but shes going to stop by soon. In any case, I would love to say that I have pictures but I dont for fear if I left them on my camera Rob might see and jinx it. But now I feel silly for thinking that. I don't think anything could jinx it when you are meant to be with someone. When you just want to smile and laugh and be young with that person forever.
Here is a link to the David's Bridal page with MY dress on it: David's Bridal - Bridal Gowns V9010 Beaded metallic embroidered satin gown.
A couple notes on it though-- I fill out the top better than that model (LOL) although the rest doesnt quite look as good on me... but it will by July and I am not planning on using the straps. I also bought the matching viel. To appease my mother mostly since I would just as well not have a viel but figure I can just take it off after the ceremony anyways.
Well, that is a LOT done! I also invited the girls to go see that Kate Hudson/Anne Hathaway movie "Bride Wars" but it looks like my cousin will be back at college (she graduates in May). The 3 of us might go anyways.
We also put the deposit (with insurance) down on our honeymoon which leaves us under $2000 to pay left not including flights. Not bad. Soooo the honeymoon will be tooo (drum roll pleass)................................
SANDALS ROYAL BAHAMIAN
Why did we chose this?
Well there is so much I am excited about let me see...
First of all ALL INCLUSIVE! Everything from snorkeling to drinking to meals to a clubs and bars and airport transfers! And for a fee we can SWIM WITH DOLPHINS and we have a spa right in our resort! Annnnd theres a free honeymoon package that comes with champagne, turn down service with rose petals, breakfast in bed, and a welcome pacakge! Our resort includes 8 restaurants, 7 pools, 6 Whirlpools, 2 swim up bars, a PRIVATE ISLAND (and a partridge in a pear treeeee... lol)!
Also a little fun fact it was the first resort EVER in the Bahamas. Our travel guide has lots of info about the orgins but I love the history of being at the site of this island that some duke and dutchess or something liek that bought and now look at the destination the Bahamas has become?! Anyways check out the site and tell me what you think! I know you will love it! I adore the pictures especially. Bahamas Vacations, Honeymoons, Resorts - Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort
Wish I had more pics to post but I have a few day trips up my sleeve soon and I will give you mini updates and work it in here somehow! LOL!
Oh and I also got some attendants gifts and a few odds and ends. I will give you a random to do list stuff update sometime soon! LOL! And maybe a little introduction so you can get to know who I am talking about when I refer to the bridal party...anyways... Now go look at my dresses and honeymoon spot!!!

Great dresses!! I think you'll love Sandals! We did Montego Bay and absolutely loved it (and went to 3 other Sandals ones while we were down there too)!!
I'm so excited about your PTR! (As if you didn't know that already - but I just finished a 20 page awfully boring paper for class and honestly reading your report just put me in the best mood!)
First, your dress is beautiful! I'm positive you will be the hottest girl in the room Congrats on finding it so quickly!
Second, your bridesmaid dresses are also gorgeous! I hope I can find a dress my girls will all agree upon (although I highly doubt that is even a possibility ) And your niece will look just adorable in her dress
Third - how awesome that you chose Sandals! It looks fantastic! It's impossible to beat all inclusive....you've given me several ideas

Your dress is beautiful! The bridesmaid dresses are beautiful! The flower girl sash and dress style is beautiful! Sandals sounds perfect... and is beautiful! This is going to be a beautiful wedding!
I love the dresses Mel...yours is amazing. I love it becuase it is simple, classy, has that real princess romantic look without going overboard. It is perfect...
Love the bridesmaid dresses, what a great shade of green. Great choice on the honeymoon, checked out your link and there is so much to do plus it is so beautful.
The dress you picked out is beautiful!! Love the other dresses too!! Sounds like you've got a great honeymoon in the making!! Can't wait to hear about what you do next!
Okay so i know you wont believe this but this is the same dress I had picked out before *LOL* The cap sleeves and the opening under the empire bodice is what I told a friend of mine i wanted that worked at David's bridal last year and this was the dress she showed me a pic of.....completely bizarre cause when i saw your pic I was like ..hey that's the dress I have a pic of ....if its not the same its super similar! weird...
I KNOW you will be the hottest girl in the room...I am so excited for you!!!
the bridesmaids dresses too!
That sandals resort is gorgeous! We actually toured the beaches resort in nassau when we were there earlier this year and was not impressed but that sandals resort is just amazing! I KNOW you are looking forward to that! I know i would have a countdown already if I were staying there *LOL*
BTW, P.s I love you....i saw that by myself too and cried and cried and cried and I just told eric this week he's gotta watch that with me
So, arent you going on your field trip tomorrow to the World of Disney in NYC???? hope you have a good time and thanks for the great update!
OMG - I love the dress!!! I think you will look great with or without the straps. I'm not usually a fan of straps, but those are very pretty. . . . . I love that BM dress, too. Very simple but pretty. . . . . .
You are getting so much done, you should be very proud of yourself. Danny and I did an ALL Inclusive on our Honeymoon in Aruba and we loved it. We aren't drinkers but it was still worth it and I would do it again. . . . .
So, you're going to WOD? I was there Saturday night . . . . You are going to love their window displays. Let me know what you think.
