As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great updates. Your review of CM has me so excited about going there in Oct. This will be dinner our first night and probably the first meeting with the characters. I hope we have a good experience too.
I love Epcot in the early morning, especially coming from the IG. Sounds like it was definitely low crowds with only a 20 minute wait, glad that Sharon decided to give it a go and that she enjoyed it even if she feels that there would be no repeat ride. I experienced a bit of unpleasantness on the ride for the 1st time in Feb and I think it had to do with the fact that they had us sit all the way at the end, so I kept getting a glimpse of the screen ending and the wall - not sure if that was it but I actually came off feeling a bit dizzy (headachy), hoping that it was just the not so perfect seat as I love that ride and would hate to have to pass it over.
Finally all caught up. Looks like you had a much better experience at Chef Mickey's than we did! I wish we could have had all of that character interaction. Anyway, I can't wait to see the Memories show at MK since I've heard nothing but great things about it. I guess Mark's feet were feeling better by the next day?
I think it's like everything - you always feel better the next morning, after a night off your feet...
Caught back up after not having a chance to go online over the weekend (we spent Saturday at Hersheypark and I thought of you so often with them having a lot of animated cows and stuffed cows at the Chocolate World tour! ).
Glad you're having so much fun! The crowds at MK sound awful, though - glad Mark wasn't lost for long!
I was a few days behind, but now I am all caught up.
I love your nighttime pictures at the MK. Your meal at CM's looks yummy. I am excited that we are doing dinner there again this year. On our first trip with DS I told him it was Mickey's kitchen and so he asked to eat at Mickey's Kitchen for dinner this year.
The practically empty walk into WS from the International Gateway was one of my favorite things about staying at BC! Glad Soarin' turned out well for Sharon!
Sunday 10 April – part two: is Ciaran going to be OK with this?
Now, although Ciaran has had issues with rides and they’ve barely been able to get him on anything so far this vacation, he was keen to do the Seas with Nemo and Friends, so that was where we headed next, stopping for some photos on the way in.
We were a bit worried about how he’d do in the dark line on the way in, but once Mark explained to him that it was because we were under the sea, he was fine with it.
And as for the ride? He loved it and wanted to go round again, which has to be a good sign!
Turtle Talk with Crush was just eight minutes off, so we insisted that we went in there next and this was so much fun. It always is, but I think this was perhaps one of the best we’ve ever seen. We laughed so much through it.
We had a quick look around Seabase Alpha when we came out, as I had to see my manatees and then it was back outside into the sun.
Already, it was getting hot and it was only about 10.30am. We grabbed a pineapple lolly for each of us. This is a great addition to the line-up of snacks on offer at Disney. So refreshing and thoroughly recommended.
We said our goodbyes to Heather and Brandon, as they were heading for Mission Space and we were off to Test Track. Ciaran really wasn’t sure about it when we went in, asking the Cast Member if it was scary. She reassured him that it wasn’t, although the sound of the cars hurtling round the track didn’t help. Once he got inside, he was OK and we were soon in our car and flying round the various obstacles. Ciaran’s reaction? He loved it and wanted to do it again. Are you seeing a pattern here?

On the way out, I got a few more photos:
Ciaran was still keen to go back to the Seas with Nemo and Friends, so we walked through MouseGears to keep out of the heat and Sean, Sharon and Ciaran disappeared off that way, while we browsed through MouseGears. Finally, some merchandise that we wanted to buy! We each got a T-shirt and three Christmas ornaments, along with a couple of fridge magnets and a salt and pepper set. It’s so cool that you get a 10% Annual Pass discount pretty much everywhere and not just at World of Disney, as was the case the last time we were here. A very welcome change.
I wanted to use the restrooms, so I headed out, while Mark was paying. I had planned on using the ones behind MouseGears, but discovered that’s where Pixie Hollow now is, so I asked the Cast Member where the nearest restrooms were. She told me across the way, by the Epcot Character Spot and I headed in there.
As soon as I walked in, I spotted the Queen of Hearts and ran back outside to get Mark, as she is one of his favourites. We had a fun time with her, then I finally got a chance to use the restrooms.
On the way out, I stopped to look at a neat display, all about Epcot’s history. I love all these little touches around Disney!
