As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears

Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving forward now as one

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Friday 3 March – part eight: the Winnie the Pooh fun continues…
Once we were done in the Crystal Palace, we headed over to the first aid centre next door, as I needed to clean up my insect bite, and reapply some antiseptic cream to it, and I didn’t feel that doing it in the restrooms in the Crystal Palace would be appropriate.
We were quickly done, and made our way over to Fantasyland. On the way, I couldn’t resist zooming in for another couple of shots of the show on the castle stage.
Now while we’d been at lunch, I’d checked the app, and seen the Seven Dwarves Mine Train was up – yay! However, Winnie the Pooh had been down. Boo! Thankfully, by the time we got there, both were up, so we headed over to Pooh first. I wasn’t sure how it would work with the Disability Access Card, and if you just used it the same way as if you had a Fastpass, so we saw the Cast Member, who was the same one who’d sorted it out for us earlier, and she told us to go ahead, and on we went.
Once again, I thought my camera did very well in low light conditions…
… and what a pleasant surprise to head into the shop, and actually find Winnie the Pooh characters in here!
I did spy a couple of Grumpy interlopers however… Speaking of which, it was next over to the Seven Dwarves Mine Train…
We ended up being put in the back row, which I was a bit concerned about, as I knew it would whip us about, but hopefully we’d be Ok.

I have to be honest, it was just about as much as I could cope with, and I did scream my way through the thing a fair bit.
Next: another boat will be along in five minutes … yeah right!
Your ride photos are just too cute! That would totally be me. LOL I've never ridden Seven Dwarves, but I can imagine.
Your camera is just outstanding. Seeing how clear your pics are, and how great the zoom is has convinced me we need a better camera for our upcoming trip. We've talked about it for years, but I think it's a must do now.
Finally caught up here. I have been such a slacker.
I am loving it all and there is just too much to comment on.
I saw the muppet show too in Feb and it was so cute.
Your interaction with Piglet was fabulous and fun!
I have to ask...I know you keep saying you have a new camera but I must have missed before what it is? It does take great shots. Is this a replacement for the camera you had that had all the issues? Is it the same brand?

It is a replacement for that. Much as I loved my Sony, I got sick of all the issues. This is a Nikon Coolpix B700 and it's got a 63x zoom!

I've been in that last row too and didn't necessarily find it to be any worse than the rest, but maybe just a touch. Not like on BTMRR - that one makes a huge difference when you're in the last row! Makes for great photos though!

Oh my goodness, that last row on Big Thunder Mountain... been there, done that... not going to do it again.

The Disability access pass works just like a fastpass with the only difference is that you can return ANY time after the return time, even if it is hours later. You can not get another Disability pass without using the one you already have set. It also does not interfere with any of the regular fastpasses as it is completely seperate. We use this system with our autistic son and it works very well for us along with the fastpass system.

I only took them on the slow bits... and I just held the camera out and kind of hoped I'd get a half decent shot.

Friday 3 March – part nine: another boat will be along in five minutes … yeah right!
We headed out of the park, stopping for just a few photos on the way…
We browsed the Emporium, and Mark found a T-shirt, and I said I’d head outside to get some photos, especially as I’d seen these guys were back outside:
How wonderful to see them twice in such a short period of time! They are so much fun. With that, we made our way out of the park…
We headed down to the boat deck, and I said to Mark we’d never catch the boat, as I figured they were just about to leave, but given it was only the two of us, and we were power walking, they could’ve waited. The captain told us another boat would be along in five minutes. Well, all I can say to that is that was the biggest lie I’ve heard in some time.
We waited 15 minutes, after the boat he said would come to us changed its flag at the last minute (that’s how you tell which resort it’s going to) and then they had two in quick succession. Then, best of all, this boat turned up, and departed empty. We assume she was going off shift, but even so, it just rubbed salt into the wound.
Then we could see no boats at all. When the next boat did turn up (not ours), we asked what was going on, and the poor guy had only just come on shift, and had no idea. Eventually, we got going, but it really was painful.
