10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 72 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
What crazy wait times. I really think that Fast passes have increased the wait times for rides, they have hundreds of people per hour that they have to get through. I have been in lines were they let 20 or more people from the fast pass line through then 5 from the regular line. Of course I still make use of the fast pass, I don’t want to wait in long lines either.
Wow, those were some insane crowds! Lucky you had fast passes! I agree that Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a cute fun coaster, with some great theming, but it’s not as good as some of the other coasters. I’m expecting to feel the same way about Slinky Dog Dash.

Wow! I agree those wait times were INSANE! Glad you got to ride 7DMT, it's a cute ride and I love the end! BTMRR will forever and always be my favorite MK coaster, though!
Those wait times were pretty crazy but at least you had the FP's to get the attraction done that you wanted in a relatively quick time. I just don't enjoy the MK that much anymore when the crowds are insane like that. It's nice that you got to break up your evening with dinner before heading back.
You certainly made good use of your FPs today!! I can't believe anyone would waste two hours in line for anything but I see it every time we go to WDW. I can't wait to see where you are headed next!!
They certainly were and wasn't expecting them to be that long even on an EMH night!

I can't imagine why anyone would wait that long for any ride. Good thing you had FP+s. I'm glad you got to experience 7DMT and enjoyed it!
Seems like a waste of a time with a wait for just one short ride, while there are so many other things you'd miss out on with this! I enjoyed 7DMT and quite a good ride but still enjoy SM and BTMRR a bit more.

You may be right about the FPs. I don't like the waits and would rather use my time for other things! I've had the same experience with the lines.

So glad I had the FPs and worked out well for me. I agree with you regarding the MK. I usually come early to the MK for this reason but wanted to do EMHs tonight and having dinner shortly in the area.

Glad you finally got to ride SDMT.
i enjoyed this ride a lot but not the best coaster in the MK. Some people are just out of their minds to wait this long and a big waste of time!

I think my FPs have worked out well for me today! I can't believe this either and no way would I do this as so much you could be doing. Waiting two hour for a three minute ride? I think you'll enjoy my next update!

Great pictures of all the Halloween decorations! Those crowds are insane! Yikes! Glad you were able to get done what you wanted to do before your ADR!
I really love how the MK is all decked out for Halloween! I couldn't believe those crowds either. Glad I had the FPs or I would have been miserable!

Well, this will be a long update and perhaps my most extensive yet (in any TR) as I wanted to get all of this in with one post! You will all enjoy it for sure as it just covers my dinner ADR! Lots of photos and although, my phone was fully charged it would pose a problem much later but not until the end of my night as I know you can guess what happened! I will share the blame with you when it comes up.
My Streak Continues as Why Would I End It?
Wednesday, October 11th (Part IV) After leaving the Magic Kingdom, I headed for my dinner ADR. So, where was I going and would I need transportation to get there? Well, see below for a good hint!
Yes, I was going to the Contemporary Resort for dinner and more specifically the California Grill. One of my favorite WDW eateries for not only the cuisine, the views from dining on the 15th floor and going out on the deck to take in all the great views of WDW! I’ve dined here on every WDW trip and this will be my 13th time. Most have been for dinner and once for the Sunday Brunch in 2016. Well, my streak continues and why would I end it?
Once, I arrived at the resort, I went through the lobby and took the escalator up one floor where the check in area is for the California Grill. I was a bit early for my 5:20 pm ADR, as it was about 5 pm. I checked in for my ADR as I wanted to go out on the deck before my dinner.
Once, I checked in I was given a pager for my ADR, which I hope doesn’t go off too soon as I want to take in the views on the deck. I was escorted to the elevator with other guests and shortly we arrived at the 15th floor.
I went to the bar and got a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. While, I was paying for my glass of wine, my pager went off! Earlier than I hoped, but not surprised as the restaurant just opened and no back up yet! I turned in my pager and I was escorted to my table by one of the hosts. My server Chris introduced himself and gave me the menu. I told him, I wanted to go out on the deck for a bit, before looking over the menu and he said that was fine and to take my time. I took my glass of wine and went down the ramp to the deck, but the deck was closed! A CM told me the other deck near the private dining rooms was open, so I headed there. It’s just around the corner from the elevators.
Hallway adjacent to other deck
I went out on the deck and it was quite nice out. There was a bit of a breeze and it was very relaxing and comfortable out here. Of course, I took plenty of photos as well as enjoying my glass of wine.
Would like to know what resorts these are as quite close to WDW!
The ICON Orlando wheel in the distance. I got a better view of this from the airport to the Royal Pacific Resort earlier in the trip.
One of my favorite MK attractions. Hoping to go on it later for EMHs.
Bay Lake Tower. Nice view, but too bad I got a bit of the railing in the photo!
I think this is the Golden Oak development outside of the Magic Kingdom. They do not come cheap! But, they are amazing homes!
Bus depot at the Magic Kingdom
I certainly recognize Spaceship Earth!
Wilderness Lodge and my resort of the Swan and Dolphin resorts behind it!
One of the resort boats going to and from the Magic Kingdom
I spent about ten minutes out here and I felt I was done for now, but I planned to return later after dinner, when the sun begins to set. I returned to my table and began to look over the menu. My server Chris saw that I was back.
My server Chris
Chris came back to my table and he went over the menu with me. I told him I have dined here several times. I recognized him and said to him that he may have waited on me on a previous trip. He gave me a few more minutes to look over the menu as well as the wines by the glass list. I still had enough left in my glass to get through my appetizer course. Chris returned and I made my selections for my appetizer and main course. I also selected the wine I wanted with my main course as well.
Chris returned with some ice water as well as some great bread to enjoy.
Bread accompanied by Butter with Volcanic Sea Salt. Very interesting and quite enjoyable!
I enjoyed the bread for a while, but I didn’t want to fill up too much on it as I planned on a full meal, including dessert.
Views near my table
Shortly, Chris returned with my first course
Cheese Board with accompaniments
I decided to have this as some of the appetizer choices didn’t interest me or I’ve had recently and wanted something different. There are five types of cheeses that come with this but I only had four as I skipped the blue, which I’m not fond of. I got an extra piece of one of them. They were all very good.
Once, I was finished with my cheese board, Chris cleared my settings while I left to use the restrooms. As you can see below, they’re quite nice at the Cali with great quality paper towels.
Chris returned with my glass of wine, which was a red varietal of some sort. I forget what I had. Soon after that he brought my main course to the table.
Grilled Bison with Sauce Reduction accompanied with various Vegetables including Potatoes and Turnips
This was very good and packed a lot of flavor. The Bison had a great char taste to it from the grilling and was cooked a perfect medium rare for me! The sauce reduction was exceptional. It doesn’t look like much sauce but more than you think with some under the bison as well. I enjoyed the veggies as well. I can’t fault this dish in any way!
While, I was enjoying my main course, I could see outside the windows that the sun was beginning to set. So, I got up to see this and get some photos. There were other guests who were over here as well. Most were those from the tables here, so I felt it was ok to get some photos as I wouldn’t be disturbing those dining at the tables close by.
Sun setting behind Bay Lake
Sun looks like the shape of an apple!
This was quite enjoyable and I loved watching this transpire. It would be even better out on the deck, but I still have more of my meal to enjoy, but will return after dinner.
Chris arrived at my table once I finished my main course and asked if I’d be having any dessert. I told him I would be. I looked over the choices and ordered my dessert as well as a double expresso.
Doesn’t it look good and will be of some assistance for EMHs shortly!
Chris returned with my dessert and something about it confused me as what do I do with it!
Watermelon Sorbet done with a Hidden Mickey in the presentation.
That petite bottle implemented into the sorbet is tequila and Chris told me to just squeeze it. Quite interesting and it added some nice flavor to the sorbet.
Once I finished my sorbet and expresso, I settled my bill with Chris. I told him how much I enjoyed it and why I keep coming back. Before, leaving the restaurant, I got a few photos inside and then headed out to the deck.
The ICON Orlando Wheel, now all lit up
Space Mountain is so beautiful with the lighting!
I still managed to get the railing in the photo with my second attempt!
Cinderella’s Castle and Space Mountain together!
Once, I was done out here, I headed inside, but wasn’t leaving just yet.
Like this design
Wine racks in corridor near outside deck
While, I was taking photos of the wine racks a CM was taking photos of other guests with their cameras and/or phones for special photos. I waited until he was done and had him do the same for me as you see below.
Kind of cool. They do this mostly in front of the windows for the HEA fireworks show.
The Cali is still quite busy at about 8 pm as many are dining now to see the Happily Ever After fireworks show during their dinner.
I was finally done as it was after 8 pm and I’ve been here since 5 pm. It was a long meal but quite enjoyable and relaxing with the breaks on the deck to make it even better. Probably, one of my best experiences here ever!
I forgot to mention how good my server Chris was as he was great from his service and knowledge of the restaurant and menu.
I then headed to the elevator to begin my return to the Magic Kingdom for Extra Magic Hours!
NEXT: This Is Even Worse Than Earlier Today!
