As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Marnie,
You'll just have to get a laser gun and start practicing when Matt's not around. I recall someone saying that DL's Buzz has moveable guns, not fixed. That would be interesting to try.
Wow! Pixie dust was with you at MK. Such light crowds! I can't recall ever walking right on to JC. I honestly hate the long wait it always seems to have - even with the fastpass. We'll have to try at night before they close down.
[ QUOTE ]
We gave Matt about an hour, and then went back to the room so that we could get going. I was getting antsy
[/ QUOTE ]
Glad I'm not the only one that gets that way! There gets to be a time when well, "what do you mean you want to sleep? We're at Disney, let's get going!" Of course, my DH would say if it was up to me the parks would be open 24/7.
Great ending to your day. Can't wait for more.

Since we still hadn’t seen Wishes, we decided to stay on for that. However, Matt wanted to watch it from Fantasyland. Ladies, what ever you do, don’t let the man decide it’s good enough to watch Wishes from Fantasyland.
[/ QUOTE ]
That is exactly where Chuck wanted to watch Wishes thinking we would REALLY get to see the fireworks. Luckily, I prevailed on that one.
Great update!!! Looking forward to the next installment.

Another great update Marnie! I don't have to worry about Larry wanting to watch Wishes from fantasyland. He likes to see it from Main Street.

I agree with you about the whiplash... we watched Wishes from there too, and had to keep turning around because the shells were launching from next to the castle, behind us, and behind Small World in front of us.... got to love how safe they are... all the roofs of the buildings near the castle are hosed down and dripping with water.

Re: Colexi\'s Spring Break Adventure, Thread 2 of 2 - Updated 5/14
Day 4 Monday April 18th ……That was How Much???
Even with our late evening, everyone was up by 6:45. Ugh! So much again for trying to sleep in, especially since we were taking it slow this morning. No matter, we’ll just go to breakfast then. We got dressed, and headed downstairs to Boma. I didn’t have a PS, but I figured that before 8 it shouldn’t be a problem, and I was right. We were seated almost immediately, however all the way at the back of the restaurant. At least we were next to the windows and could look out at the pool! We enjoyed the breakfast here in December, and wanted to make sure we ate here again this trip! The kids were hungry, so I took them both up with me while Matt stayed to order the drinks. We had just sat down with our food when the CM brought our drinks. Thankfully, I could then order myself some Frunch, as Matt had forgotten to do that! And the CM gave him a hard time too It was another great breakfast and we were filled when we left! I was able to use the DDE again, although I’ve misplaced my receipt to know what the actual savings was. Over $10 I’m sure. We headed up to the room first. I put the “room ready to be made up” sign on the door to see if that would get us faster service, and left the mousekeeping envelope by the sinks.
Next up was Downtown Disney and the shopping adventure! We arrived just after 9:30 (I can only shop there in the AM with little crowds, at night it’s just way too crowded)! Of course, Stitch had obviously been there, as evidenced by the crashed van.[/b]
First stop was the new Lego store. Wow, they’ve done a great job with all the new statues and displays. Matt loves Legos, I know I’ll be in trouble here The had displays in all the windows of major world cities, it was really well done!
NYC – King Kong is on top of the Empire State Building
Hong Kong – with a Disney castle in the back
London
Sydney
Moscow, I believe. Look at the snow on the building!
Paris – I love DLP castle in the background
Newly refurbished and looking brighter
How cool is this one
Some fish by the sea
A new dinosaur
Colin in the playhouse
Continued in next post.........

Re: Colexi\'s Spring Break Adventure, Thread 2 of 2 - Updated 5/14
..........continued from previous post
After the kids played on the playground for a bit, and in the outside bins making a few things, we headed inside to the store. Everything looked brand new (except the ceiling – need a paint job IMO) and everyone had fun looking around. I had given Matt strict instructions that he had a $15 limit! I thought that was more than reasonable. We ended up getting the kids a knight each, Colin a green (his favorite color) and Alexa a red one! Knights, no matter what story, seem to be the big thing this year for every toy line Okay, they were only $8 each, so I thought that was quite reasonable. And they were multi-positional, so the kids could move them how they wanted. Okay, now where’s Matt? Of course, he finds what he’s been looking for. A set of “little people”, I think there were about 40 of them in box. For how much you ask The low, low price of $35 I asked him what happened to the $15 limit he was allotted We finally escaped from the Lego store $55 dollars lighter! Ouch! And we haven’t even hit World of Disney or Once Upon a Toy yet
Well, it was my turn to go crazy in World of Disney. Since right now, our next trip isn’t until August 2006, I wanted to get a bunch of things to tide me over (that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it )! I also picked up a bunch of stuff for Alexa for her birthday, without her knowing about it! I got a shirt for me, a new mousepad, window cling, picture frame, some more cups for the kitchen, you name it, I was picking it up! Including discount, I walked out of there about $200 lighter I had most of it sent back home, so the AP discount paid for the shipping charges, and I kept a toy that Alexa wanted, and a truck for Colin, with us. Wouldn’t you know that I had bought a stack of postcards, and had mistakenly put them into the send home pile so I had to buy some more later in the week! The only downfall was that I ended up with a CM who forgot to do the AP discount. He did it on the things I wanted to keep, but then forgot to do it on the stuff I wanted to send home (which is really where I needed the discount)! So he had to return everything and then ring it in again with the discount.l It took probably 20 minutes, and I wouldn’t have minded, except that he kept calling me hon.. And, my room charge wouldn’t go thru, although I had just used it at Lego. So he had to call AKL, and of course they said there wasn’t a problem. He tried it again, and it worked! Matt had taken the kids out to sit outside, and called me wondering if I got lost
That done, we headed over to Once Upon a Toy, after a quick browse of the pin shop. Nothing really caught my eye in the pin shoppe, so we made it out of there The kids had to make their own Mr. Potato Head pictures first, before anything else was done.
I found a Parcheesi game that I had wanted to get, as I loved playing this game with my Mom growing up, and I haven’t seen it in any other stores that here! I also got a Buzz Lightyear Die Cast Ride vehicle to add to my collection. I couldn’t find a lot of these this trip, not sure if they are discontinuing them or what, but they were hard to find Of course, Alexa with her memory that doesn’t quit, remembered Matt telling her in December that if we came back, she could have one of those tubes you fill up with the powdered sugar. How she remembers these things, but can’t remember to brush her teeth every day, amazes me So we ended up with one of those (thankfully the smaller one) as well! Only $20 spent in there, I thought that was pretty good!
It was getting close to noon (and lunch) so we headed over to Wolfgang Puck Express! I like this place, although I was hoping to get to try Earl of Sandwich. Not this trip We ordered a margherita pizza for the kids, and me and Matt would split the BBQ chicken quesadilla. We had dinner at H&V tonight for the FDP, so no sense filling up with lunch. With my AP discount, it was only $15.75. We decided to get it to go, and we’d just eat it back by the pool or in the room. Of course, I couldn’t leave DTD without a stop in Ghiradelli. First into the chocolate side to get a free sample of chocolate and then over to the ice cream side to get some ice cream. We went for just one waffle cone, with strawberry ice cream (I think Colin chose the flavor). At only $4.21, I thought it was a bargain, and it was huge for only 1 scoop! It’s less expensive here than we pay at the new Ben and Jerry’s shoppe that opened near our house Who’d think something at Disney would be cheaper than at home
Coming up next........Day 4 continued.......Do I know you???

Marnie, I just caught up with your trip report and it's superb! I knew they'd renovated the Lego area but I had no idea they'd added so many new displays. Now I can hardly wait to see them for myself.
