As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Kylor & Jalen\'s SURPRISE Disneyland vacation
Tina,
Just had a chance to catch up with your trip report. Sounds like you all are having a blast! So glad you enjoyed your breakfast at PCH Grill. Zack and I had a great time in February, although we had a very naughty Stitch (just the way Zack likes him! ) Can't wait to read more!

This time the ride stopped right before we got on so they could put a wheelchair passenger on (he was about 10 cars ahead of us) I knew this meant we would get stuck inside the ride while they took him off, so I was planning on racking up the points. I shot at this same target the entire time we were stuck and went from 40,000 to about 100,000. Haha, it was fun.

Hey, that's cheating!!! I love it! I need the ride to stop in order to get any type of decent score!
Great update Tina!

Re: Kylor & Jalen\'s SURPRISE Disneyland vacation
Wed April 27th cont'd
After our success on Buzz Astro Blasters, we headed over to the castle to get some shots. Here's Jalen on the bridge with the swans:
The boys by the castle:
As I was taking that last picture I noticed a small crowd gathered over off one of the castle's side paths. We rounded the corner and, voila, it was Mulan. There were 2 families ahead of us Fastpass to Mulan She was loving having the two little 'princes' pose with her. She was trying to get them to do the same pose she was, but as you can see Jalen was none too thrilled to be meeting her and Kylor was too 'cool' to do that She was just the sweetest character.
We took the back alley up to Fantasyland and there were HUGE lines for Aurora and Snow White up there. Sometimes you just find that off the beaten path character and it's great (like Mulan) Jalen wanted to ride the carousel and this is the first time I noticed the pretty blue velvet coverings over one of the horses. I thought it was just a broken horse Even the big '50' on the cover didn't make it dawn on me. (these were the gold rides they revealed on 5-5)
After our spin on the beautiful carousel, we took the path to Frontierland and the petting zoo is actually open. The kids had been wanting to see this since last year and it's just never open when we pass. So of course we hop in there. I think it's called Slice of Heaven petting zoo? After Home on the Range. The boys headed straight in with the crazy goats. And I mean crazy They were jumping all around and butting heads with each other. It was totally hilarious. The CM even warned the boys to be gentle b/c they will headbutt you if you are acting aggressive Jalen pet quite a few.
Kylor hung out in there for a while but then had enough. It took a lot of coaxing to get Jalen out. I told him to come look at the crazy cow and that got him. This cow couldn't keep its tongue in its mouth and the rest of the trip Jalen kept sticking his tongue out on the side of his mouth and moving it, going 'What am I?' There was also a horse here but you weren't allowed to touch the horse.
The boys washed their hands and we headed out on the path to BTMRR. We stopped at the pond across from the ride and were watching and counting the fish we saw jumping all over in there. I sensed something wasn't right and that's when I realized it was so quiet. No BTMRR cars going by. Come to find out the ride is closed - but just for that day. Phew, thank goodness. We would have been heartbroken if we didn't get to ride this sometime during our vacation. Jalen took this nice shot of me and Kylor by the jumping fishy pond:
The boys by the quiet BTMRR:
We headed on down past the riverboat and stopped for this photo in front of Tom Sawyer Island. If you look real close, you can see the 50 ears - on the right side of the shack behind the boys:
Jalen really was dying to ride Splash Mountain. The standby line was 50 minutes, but they wanted to wait. Ugh. Here's a picture I took of the 50 ears on Splash Mountain:
So we hopped in line to wait. It was really awful watching all those FP people stroll by us knowing that could have been us in a few hours. Oh, well. At first I was annoyed at waiting but then Kylor says "I don't mind waiting. It gives us a chance to talk" Then I felt bad I was being such a spoilsport. So we talked The line moved very slowly. I think about 100 FP people passed us during the course of those 50 minutes - seriously. No wonder the standby line goes by so slowly (not that I'm complaining - I love taking advantage of FP as much as the next person) I took this picture of the 50 ears on the railroad trestle from in line at Splash.
I noticed as we got closer all the signs stating 'No lap riding' Uh-oh. Jalen loves this ride b/c he can sit right in between my legs in front of me. This has changed since last year, though. They moved all the seats forward so there's no room for that. Still only 1 person per row, though, unlike WDW. Kylor was in row 1, Jalen 2, and me 3. I love this ride. It's worth every minute in line b/c you are actually on the ride for a long period of time. Nobody in our boat got even remotely wet. Gotta love that. Our picture was hilarious but I didn't buy it. As we exited Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore were all out and all their lines were HUGE! The boys didn't want to wait, so we headed on. We were going to go on Pooh but Jalen had to use the restroom. We headed to the Hungry Bear restaurant to use their restrooms and after we were all done they decided they didn't want to ride Pooh after all OK. We walked down past the Haunted Mansion and found our first mural of all the pictures people had sent in from all over the world to make these 50th murals. Here's the Fantasmic one:
I found these statues outside of the Nightmare Before Christmas shop that I had never seen before:
We headed back through Adventureland and took this picture of the 50 ears at Pirates:
Coming up: Souvenir shopping, swimming and a surprise showing of the new fireworks show

Great update Tina - I loved the 50 years Hidden Mickeys - thanks for taking so many shots showing those. Isn't it great, the way they've added so many little touches to celebrate the anniversary?
