Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Ooh la la our trip to Disneyland Paris *Day-5*

Day 5 Our final day

We woke up about 7.45am this morning and Allan did the now usual breakfast ritual, coming back with a trayful of goodies from the buffet. We ate breakfast in bed, then reluctantly started on our packing. I had not gone overboard on souviners this time so we didn't have much more than we came with – not like our buy a second case Florida trips! After packing Allan had a shower and I had a bath then we dressed and headed down to reception to check out . We left our bags with the concierge so that we could go to the park and come back and collect our bags about 15.30 pm; we needed to allow enough time to travel into central Paris as we were catching the Eurostar from Gare du Nord.

We walked out of the hotel and it was a very hot day, we stopped at the Hotel New York to buy some sunscreen as I was already a little pink from yesterday and I did not want to get burnt. I am notorious for packing gallons of sun cream when we go away but I really did not think that I would need it in northern France in April! The weather had been glorious for most of our visit.

We headed towards Disney Village and I saw Cafe Mickey, I had never ever had a character meal and tried to persuade Allan that we should book one for later. He agreed and said we could go to Disneyland Park for a couple of hours and then come back to Cafe Mickey. We went in to make a reservation for later. We tried to book for 2pm, the lady at the desk explained that even though the restaurant would be open at 2pm, the characters finish at 2 so we would not be able to dine with them. Allan was ok with this (Duh! Totally missing the point!!) but I really wanted to see Mickey so we stepped outside to have a quick chat about it. It was midday and I asked Allan if we could have lunch there now, he pointed out that we had only had breakfast a couple of hours ago but I talked him round and we went back inside and spoke to the same lady. She told us that she did have space now and took us out to the terrace. I was thrilled it was lovely and sunny and we could see the lake from our table, it was beautiful.

On the next table there was a little girl and her Mum, the little girl was adorable, she told me her name was Nicole and her Mum and Dad had brought her to DLP for her Birthday. Her Dad was in the hotel watching a sporting event and her Mum had taken her out to lunch to her favourite restaurant at DLP. She told me that it was her birthday yesterday, I asked her how old she was and she replied neuf, even though she is English, she was so cute. Nicole was very excited about the characters and told me that they are a lot of fun, she had eaten at Chef Mickey's yesterday with her Mum and Dad.

The waitress came and we all gave our order Allan ordered two starters to be served as a main course, one was a salad and one was an anti pasti appitizer. I ordered a chicken BBQ pizza, Allan had beer and water to drink and I had a glass of Champagne and a cherry coke.

The first character came round and it was Mr Smee, he was really funny he kept pretending to try to get over the fence to jump in the lake because he was so hot.!

Mr.Smee and Meee!
The second character was a baddie (sorry I don't know his name), the fox from Pinnochio. He was very very naughty he wanted me and Allan, Nicole and her mum to pretend we were playing in a band. Nicole had to pretend to play a guitar, I was to play the piano, and Nicole's Mum and Allan were playing instruments that I can't remember (sorry it was seven months ago now), the naughty fox was playing drums on the window with Nicole's breadsticks and she kept telling him off, it was hilarious. The people on the other side of the glass were a bit surprised!

That Naughty fox.

Goofy came round next and Allan tried to take a picture and the naughty fox put his hand in front of the camera.

He really was misbehaving.

Finally a photo with goofy!

Our lunch had arrived at this point. My pizza was delicious, Allan really enjoyed his food too. Quite a few more characters came to our table including Robin Hood, Gepetto, Tigger and Mickey.

The heroic Robin.

Mickey is my favourite character and I was so pleased to have my picture taken with him, check out the silly grin in my pic.

My first Mickey and Me picture!

Minnie Mouse came round to see us too and she was really michevious, she kept trying to mess up my hair, I absolutely hate having my hair messed up and she just kept giggling.

Mischevious Minnie!

Tiggered.

After lunch we headed through Disney Village into the Disneyland Park, we could literally only stay for an hour so we just had a quick walk around Main Street and had one last look in the shops. Time was soon up so we walked back through Disney Village to the hotel, collected our luggage from the concierge desk and then went outside the front of the hotel to wait for the bus to the RER station. We waited about five minutes and the bus turned up, and were quickly at the station. We bought our tickets to Gare Du Nord and got on the train that was waiting at the platform. After forty minutes travel through the suburbs of Paris we arrived at Gare Du Nord. We had time to get a quick drink to cool down before we had to board our train.

For the return Journey I had booked First Class as they weren't any travel agent rates left in Standard Class – a real shame . We headed down to the platform to board and to my delight we had the Disneyland Paris train, which is painted with Disney Characters, it's really cool. We thought they only did the direct Disney park runs but apprently they are used for regular trips too. After we found our seats Allan insisted on getting off and walking all the way to the front of the train to photograph the engine, he was most disapointed to find a standard one, not “Disneyfied” at all. Still he got to walk off some of that food!

Whoo! Whoo! Disney Choo Choo!

We really liked the First Class carriage the seats are a lot bigger and you get free drinks and a meal. The stewardess came round with the drinks trolley and asked me what I would like to drink, I asked for a glass of white wine and she offered me a glass of Champagne woohoo! I must have it written on my forehead that this is my favourite drink. Funnily enough the lady in front who was moaning non stop had not been offered any Allan ordered a mineral water - he had to drive in just under two hours.

Just one more glass of champers

We were then served our meals, we had a salad to start and the main course was a sort of duck casserole, niether of us cared for it much and we usually really like duck.

With the train now zipping through the French countryside at over 150 miles an hour we were chatting away about the news in the papers we were reading when all of a sudden it got a bit quiet... The train slowed and slowed eventually coasting to a halt some way after a small station, basically in the middle of a field. The train chief cam on the tannoy, and told us there was a technical hitch.

Several more announcements followed, they were on the radio to HQ etc, they were testing systems, then that they were rebooting the train!! Allan heard later that the problem had been that the train's control system thought a door had come open, so for safety it brought the train to a halt.

More drinks and delicous chocolates followed for those of us lucky enough to be in first class, with extra chocs for Allan and I because as usual he was chatting to the crew! He got into a discussion about the best flavour chocs, so we got to try their favorites too .

After about an hour they convinced the train that the doors really were shut and we were off again and within half an hour were passing out through the “Chunnel” (Channel Tunnel!) back into the UK. Off the train at Ashford, we found the car park ticket, grimaced at the cost and headed for the car. A quick stop for fuel at a very 1970's petrol station just off the main road and we were on the motorway. DLP behind us, but a surprising hint of a sun tan, a laptop full of photos and a fresh set of Disney memories .

Re: Ooh la la our trip to Disneyland Paris *Day-5*

Karen, I'm so pleased you've finished this report and I love those photos from Cafe Mickey - you must be so pleased that you were able to persuade Allan to go there, it looks like you had so much fun there!

I agree about first class on Eurostar - we both said that's how we'd travel in the future if we went to Disneyland Paris again, it's so much quieter and more relaxed and getting food is a definite bonus.

Not long now to the next birthday trip and I hope you'll be writing a trip report about that one as well!

Karen, I am so glad you finished!!! I was looking forward to it!!!

The pictures from Cafe Mickey were so cute . . . there sure were a lot of different characters there!!! Glad you both had such a great time . . . sorry about getting stuck in the train in the middle of nowhere for so long though!!! But, with chocolate and champagne, I am not sure I would have noticed!!!

Looking forward to reading a trip report on your upcoming birthday trip . . .
