PTR: A rustic Spook-tacular adventure for two: Tricks, Treats and Eats! - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad to hear you weren't effected by the flooding. Congratulations on scoring a ADR for BoG! How lucky that you got to see the Beauty and the Beast off Broadway show. My sister and I were lucky enough to get to see the show on Broadway and it was amazing! Your plans for your MNSSHP day sounds great!
I haven't been on the boards so I think I missed out on the start of this. So glad you are back!
Glad you got to add an extra day on and also the extra day at Port Canaveral.
Your dining plans sound great so far. We LOVED Via Napoli! I think their pizza is so delicious.
I am glad you are going to MNSSHP again. I am sad that we skipped it last year. Not sure when I will be back during that time frame. Girls are both in HS now and can't miss anymore for family vacations! Boo!
It is almost time!!!!
Thank goodness you weren't affected by the flooding, that's sounded horrendous. I hope the Interstate re-opens in time for your trip.
Your plans for the Halloween Party day sound wonderful.
Yes we were very lucky! Thank you!!!

So, what's been going on? Well mostly just packing and figuring out what toiletries we need etc. Of course once you pack you realize what you lack. I need toothpaste and hairspray and Eric needs a few odds and ends too.
So, our suitcases are out, I'm all but nearly packed minus what I'm wearing now and a few last minute things.
We are trying to decide the best time for DTD on Saturday right now. Feel free to share you opinions on this but I'm thinking with so many changes and F&WF that maybe going early on during the day on Saturday from like 3-7pm. Then we could go back to our hotel and chill by the bar and walk around. See the electrical parade and then head to bed.
Anyway, Lets do another Disney day by day.
Monday October 26th plans:
We have plans to do Animal Kingdom this day. I know that most other don't share a love for this park the way we do and that's fine more park for me!!! We put this for our first day because we love it for one. We also wanted to do a dinner reservation this night and the only way was to do a park that closed early. The other is they had EMH this day for an hour I believe.
Our original fast passes were spaced really far apart this day but I changed it and tweeked them this past weekend to flow better and give us more time to get extra fast passes once they expire.
Plans would be for us to get up and get going early on this day. Generally we are up by 7 or 730. We will grab a bus early as possible and hopefully get to AK by 9am.
We have a fast pass for the Safari first thing from 9-10am. We will go over that way before this expires and hop on.
We will just explore the trails there and walk around until our next fast pass for EE at 10:20am
Once that expires we will just explore that area and then eventually head over to Dinosaur where we have a fast pass at 1120.
Our plan is to eat lunch once they all expire, either Resturauntosaurus or Flame Tree BBQ.
Once done with lunch we have all afternoon to do what we want which would be Bug's Life, Conservation station, Safari again, a break at the Dawa bar for my fave amber beer and then EE again I'm sure.
We need to leave this park by 4:30pm to DTD.
Does anyone know if a bus still runs to DTD from AK park????? if it doesn't then we have to go to AKL to catch a bus down there.
We have a 5:45pm reservation at Portobello's for our first time at this restaurant. I'm overly excited to eat here as I love creamy Italian bad for you food!! YUM!
Once done we have from 7pm till 10pm or so to walk around DTD and explore which we are so excited to do!
So, this weekend we have plans to grab the last minute stuff, set everything out, finish our envelope system and get it all ready to go! We leave next Friday early on as Eric has decided to try to take a half day for us to do things around the house like take the trash, clean up the house, mow the lawn and be ready to leave around 3pm.

We were there from about 1pm to 7pm this past Saturday and it was certainly crowded, but Boathouse and Splitsville were completely fine! We finished with sundaes at Ghiradelli and there was a little line but nothing bad. When we were finishing up there were just people everywhere and the traffic was a nightmare. I think they've gotten enough stuff reopened that it's manageable now, it's just a sea of people in the narrow walkways with all the walls still up.

No they do not We did AKL to Disney Springs and it's a very long bus ride because they have to go a sneaky way around the traffic. Just keep that in mind!

Your plans sound wonderful! I'm pretty sure that there is a bus to DTD from AK but hopefully someone else can confirm for sure! The 3-7 pm time should be a good time to go to DTD too It can get pretty packed down there at dinner time!
