As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm so far behind! AHHH!!! Mike's work really dropped the ball with posting the schedule for July so as soon as he gets it, I will look over your dates. It's looking like we might meet up on one of your "off" days or something like that because we try to avoid the parks like the plague during the summer time but he should be getting his schedule today so I should be able to let you know before you leave
Didn't want to miss wishing you a Magical Vacation! I've only had a 2 wk vacation down the shore. Fifteen days in Disney will be pure bliss. Ahhhhh....
I can't imagine how challenging it will be to say goodbye on Friday but sending lots of pixies your way!
GL with your final packing!
Mel
Thanks!!! Yes - the anxiety has really kicked in about FIL - but I know it will all be okay.........

So far, they've looked great on everyone.
Thanks Laurie - it is so hard to leave them when they are so ill - but I know we need this time together - Scott really needs to get away and relax! emily is really looking forward to WAT - I did it in 2011 and really enjoyed it!

Thanks!!! It is nice to have quality time alone with each of them - and I really enjoy my "alone" time as well!

Well today is my last day of work for 2 WHOLE weeks!!!! Yahoo!!!!
Between life and work, it's been pretty stressful and I am so looking forward to skipping town for a bit!!! HALF A MONTH!!!
The majority of the packing is completed - just need to add a few more things to the bags - and put all the toilitries in a small suitcase - they are all together - just need to throw them in! I know that I am probably so overpacked - and I try every single trip to plan accordingly and NOT overpack - but it just never seems to turn out that way! Oh well - my motto is if Southwest will allow you to check 2 bags per person, then why worry about space?
After work, I will run home, pick up Scott and Em - then we will pick up MIL and go visit FIL - I know that I am going to be a mess - I am going to try really hard not to be - BUT it's so real knowing that this could be our last goodbye - he is just up and down every day - of course, yesterday he had a good day - so we will see. Then we will have dinner with MIL (and I will seriously NEED an adult beverage and let the vacation begin!!!) - then home to bed - and hopefully have time to watch Wreck it Ralph - we still haven't seen it!!! And to bed fairly early and we will be departing the house at 4:45 a.m. - I originally thought our flight was at 6:05, but it's not till 6:50 - so that gives us a bit of extra time (the amount of time for the drive!!!), but at this time tomorrow, we will be landing in Orlando!!!!
I took a few photos last night of some of the things I made for Emily - I will try to post (have to do it from I-phone) in the next post!!!

George was not too thrilled to see this so he tried to stop me from filling it!
My cats do this too -- only they jump on top and won't even let me open it
My new "Linny" inspired hat!
Super cute hat!!
Em's autograph book
I saw a "pin" on Pinterest that uses a Disney Encyclopedia of Characters...may I ask what book you used for this?
Em's journal I made for her
Cute -- I need to get my "craftiness" back up and running
Ems pink highlights (not a great photo....she took it herself!)
Aww her hair turned out adorable....makes me miss the blonde and pink...but being a brunette, blonde is too much maintenance for me ($$$) - so when I'm feeling Sassy, I have the tips done in purple...sort of dark brown ombre and then the purple on the tips
And a Pin Scavenger Hunt I made for Em
This looks like fun!
I hope you have a WONDERFUL trip!! for your FIL & MIL while you are gone.

Plans all look good and can only say you a better man than I Gunga Din for braving WDW near July4th After a Christmas /New Years time Visit.
See you didn't get the memo about Male Orange Tabby's . Not the brightest bulbs in the box are they. Andrew could literally trap himself by walking up to a corner in a wall and Chester is unable to stalk and attack a stationary toy mouse.
Sorry to say not a fan of Em's pink highlight but still would recommend Scott consider obtaining a Garrand for when Boys come to see her. You know just to help set the mood.

If we could handle New Years Eve - this will be a piece of cake!!! LOL!!! Actually we have gone several times over the 4th - and we just go with the flow! And honestly - it has never been what we witnessed over Christmas/New Years Eve!
yes - George is our first orange tiger - and we often find ourselves saying that if there was a short bus for cats............he would be the first one on!!!! He was the runt of the litter and we believe he also failed to develope a few brain cells..........he gets himself stuff in chairs, under the hutch, etc. And he eats cords all the time - even plugged in cords!!!

The Linny hat is adorable on you, and I love the crafty things you made for Emily. The scavenger hunt really looks like fun. I'll be thinking of all of you tonight as you make those hard visits. Then I'll be thinking of you with a smile tomorrow as you arrive in the bubble!
