Goin' Down the Bayou ~ The TR (November 1-10, 2012) - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great update! The video was just so adorable! I do agree with Heather (ilovedisney247) having had both breakfast and dinner at Chef Mickey's that dinner is much better. We found the character interaction to be better then as well. Congrats on the credit from your airline. Looking forward to more.
What a fun time at Chef Mickey's! Seeing your pics, I'm kind of sad we're not eating there this time.
Sorry your going to miss out on Chef Mickey's this time! I'm sure you've got some great meals planned, and there's always next time for CMs, right?

The food was all good, no complaints there, but I think I just prefer to have my buffets at breakfast

Isisn't so nice when your kids do something so sweet - like share money - and you don't even have to fight about it. It makes you feel like you are doing something right as a parent.
I prefer breaksfast buffets too. Not sure why, but I do. What a nice sisterly thing that was to do, and without any coaching from mom and dad. And any app that saves you money is a pretty awesome app.
Had to catch up! Looks like you all are having a GREAT time! Love all the pics!
Congrats on the flight credits!
Thanks

Aren't those moments the best? My girls are no angels, but when they do something good on there own you can't help but pat yourself on the back!

Breakfast is my favorite meal, especially out, but I can never decide what I want. Do I want savory like eggs or bacon, or do I go sweet with pancakes or french toast?? Too many decisions Breakfast buffets are the best for that, then I can just pile up my plate with everything
Our 6AM wake up call rolled around way too quickly, but it didn’t take us too long to get up and out of bed. Isn’t it funny how getting up that early is different at Disney? At home we definitely would have been hitting the snooze button a few times! Anyway, we all got ourselves dressed and had a quick breakfast of cereal before we left the room around 7:20. It was still dark out!
I still look half asleep in this one!
We waited for about 10 minutes for a bus to DHS, but we were there and through bag check by 7:45. The lines at the turnstiles were pretty long, so once they opened it took us a while to get through, but when we did we made a bee line right over to TSMM. When we got there the wait time was already showing 45 minutes, and it was only 8:15!! I hopped on the line, which was snaking back out the entrance past the FP machines, while Chris went to grab us some FP. I think our return time was 9:40 am for those. The line finally started moving, and didn’t really stop once we were through the entrance.
Soon enough we were boarding our ride vehicle. The wait was more like 20 minutes, not the 45 that was posted.
At some point while we were on line I got a text from Dawn (DSteiny23) that they had arrived and were also on line for TSMM. They were not too far behind us, so after our ride we waited outside for her and the rest of her clan. My girls, of course, were shy and hid behind Chris or I when anyone tried to talk to them. But, it was so nice to finally meet the rest of her family after reading about them and seeing so many pictures of them in her TRs.
We decided to head over to RNRC, Kaeli was excited to try this out for the first time and Dawn’s son Jason was itching to see whether or not he was finally tall enough for this one. He was just so excited, I really hoped that he made the mark because he would be so disappointed if he didn’t! Well, he was just thrilled when we got there and saw that he was indeed tall enough. Even though she was tall enough, Abby didn’t want to ride, so I sat out with her while Chris and Kaeli joined Dawn and her family for a ride with Aerosmith. I grabbed a cup of coffee for myself and a cookie for Abby and we sat on the ledge outside the exit just enjoying our snacks and the beautiful morning. There were quite a few kids coming out that obviously did not like the ride, many of them with tears and red faces, and I was really hoping that this was not going to be the case for Kaeli!
Abby and I finished up our snacks and headed inside the store to do a little browsing, here’s my little model showing off a cute hat
And, as it turns out, my worries were for nothing. Kaeli absolutely LOVED RNRC!!
Notice her little thumbs up??
A group of young girls had asked Dawn to take a pic of them, so of course we had them trade the favor and get a group shot of our families!
The shadows are really bad, but I’m hoping that maybe they got a better shot with Dawn’s camera.
We said goodbye here , as they were going to ride ToT next, but we wanted to head back to TSMM since our FPs had ripened up. Before leaving though, we grabbed some FPs for ToT and stopped for a few Photopass pics
So back across the park we went for another spin on TSMM where Chris thoroughly kicked our butts again! The girls were itching for a snack when we were done, so we stopped at Hey Howdy Take Away for some Mickey bars before trecking back across the park to use our ToT FPs. What a workout we were getting this morning!
Abby wanted nothing to do with ToT, and I was just as happy to sit out with her again so we did a little browsing in the shops while Chris and Kaeli took off for the Twilight Zone.
Unfortunately, Kaeli did not enjoy ToT at all! Chris said that she didn’t scream or cry or act scared at all during the drop sequence, but just said as they were exiting that she would NEVER ride that again, lol! (Though, she has since changed her mind and has told me that she wants to try it again next time ) So, Chris gave away the two other FPs and came to meet Abby and I in the shop. We decided to go and give the Animation Academy a try, but by the time we got there the corral was full and the standby line was out the door. I knew there was no way we’d make it into the next show, so we decided to leave and head through Pixar Place towards the Streets of America. We noticed that Mike and Sully had no line, so we stopped to say hi to them.
And then did a little browsing in the shop right outside of their meet. The girls thought it was time to use some of their souvenir money, Kaeli chose a cute little stuffed Baby Boo and Abby got a stuffed Sully. Purchases in hand we strolled through the Streets of America
And then we stopped for a quick picture with Lightening McQueen and Tow Mater.
Phinneas and Ferb were not out yet, so we headed over towards Mama Melrose even though we were about 30 minutes early for our 12 pm ADR.
