As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

Moving on with the current of the years.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

October 6, 2017-Enjoying an amazing dinner at Victoria & Albert's with PP's Dot and Drew

No big deal on lack of pics, I didn't take any because I figured there would be others posted somewhere. It's your descriptions and opinion that we really crave! I think I'm the only idiot that liked that red stag lemonade, I mean I loved it!!

We returned back to AKL and took a rest, we grabbed a few snacks and I put my feet up. I don't remember what Brandon did--I think he was playing on his computer. I put Stacy on the TV and I remember some objections! I only made him watch for a little while! I promise! We grabbed some snacks and wine and beer for later from the lounge before heading out to the party. We didn't go right at 4pm because we wanted to make sure we had provisions for later and provisions don't show up in the Club Lounge until 5pm. Just so you know--don't be squimish about taking things from the lounge. Yes, the lounge attendant stared at me when I emptied 1/2 a bottle of Chardonnay into my extra large plastic wine glass, but I PAID EXTRA POINTS for free wine! Do I care--no--is it their job to refill that stuff--yes!
After stocking the mini fridge we headed downstairs in our cute pumpkin T shirts and caught a bus for the MK--Brandon once again flagged down a bus that was pulling out and we hopped on and even had seats! On the way into the park I looked at the sky and realized that I wish I had brought the better poncho and an umbrella!
We got out wrist bands and candy bags as we went through the area under the train station. I grabbed several maps for the party and stuck one in my pocket and several in my bag--I just discovered that they are still in the back pocket in my bag!
I love the decorations all over the Town Square area! They do such a great job decorating for the holidays!
There are tons of carved pumpkins all over the tops of the buildings and most are themed to the building they are on!
This one is my favorite--white pumpkins! I have one on my front porch right now--I have 3 pumpkins right now--one orange, one white, and one Cinderella pumpkin. Last year my pumpkins from Halloween lasted until March--without rotting at all. We'll see how long these last--I bought them the second week of September.
Our first ride of the night was Haunted Mansion--we just felt like it was the right thing to do!
The Haunted Mansion landscaping is lit up all super creepy.
We also saw the bride wandering around so I grabbed a photo--although it isn't great--I loved seeing her! She was talking to herself and yelling at random passers-by.
We headed over to Frontierland and rode BTMRR while we waited for the party to actually start. I really wanted to get photos of Snow White and all the dwarfs. We headed down to the area they were supposed to be in when the party started and they had just shown up, however the line looked like it was about an hour long--seriously it stretched back forever. I was a little shell shocked by that. I've NEVER seen a character line that long ever.
And. Thats. When. The. Rain. Started. I'm not talking about a little drizzle--it was already doing that. It was POURING. Sharon's plane had just taken off so I'm blaming her. No, not really, she'd been gone for 2 hours--but clearly her weather mojo went with her. The good news? The party seemed to be a little emptier after the weather. We put on our dollar store ponchos--which by the way are like plastic T shirts with hoods on bigger people. It covered down to my pockets, but not so much on Brandon.
We decided not to let it slow us down so we headed for Fantasyland and it stopped, mostly by the time we got there. The one other photo op I wanted to make sure we hit was Cinderella's Carriage. The line was only a few people long, interestingly the line, besides us, was made up entirely of people wearing bride and groom hats--too cute!
I actually haven't looked at these aside from the little photobucket version--so I won't know how they came out until I hit the post button on this update. The CMs working this station were great. They were constantly adjusting the lighting and camera to deal with the weather and the clouds and darkness.
Next I dragged Brandon on it's a small world. He hates this ride since the trip we got stuck for 20 minutes, however, he's willing to make sacrifices to keep me happy. It's one of the reasons that I love him and I'm not mad at him for the disaster that comes at the end of our trip. (Yes--we always have a disaster, sometimes it's me, sometimes it's him, but be warned it is coming. Last year's October disaster resulted in me getting 7 stitches 6 hrs before our flight and going to WDW with a black eye.)

We spent the next bit of the party in Tomorrowland. We rode Space Mountain and Buzz. We also stopped at every single candy station. Why? I've developed a sweet tooth. I don't know when it happened. I never used to eat dessert. I would rather have a cheese plate than a piece of cake or pie. I was a salt junky. I'm still a salt junky, but now I order the cheese plate at the beginning of the meal and look forward to dessert. It's still a special treat reserved for special meals out and vacation, but I've developed a keen appreciation for pastry chefs recently. I still have a few lemonheads and lolly pops left from our trip. All the good stuff is long gone--don't worry.
I do have to say that we ended up with a ton of candy--both of our bags were more than half full. It was a mix of items--tons of tootsie rolls and fake smarties. There was a fair bit of name brand candy mixed in and my favorite station was the Werther's sour apple caramel hard candies.
Up next, fireworks, parades, a yummy meal, and a disappointment.
I'm glad you mentioned that little tidbit about the club level lounge. I'm a little nervous about taking things from the lounge back to the room, like soda, water, snacks, but I guess that's what it's there for? One other thing...I'm assuming you brought that big ole wine glass from home, but if you don't do that, do they have wine glasses in the lounge?

I know I'm weird, but it's just a little more obvious to me right now, when I read about everyone's complaints of Tootsie Rolls and I'm sad I didn't get many! It started raining while I waited in the airport (which happens to me more than I can say), but I was hoping it was holding out at Disney. I tried my best. At least it wasn't a complete washout, and the crowds cleared out!

WOW - you got great pics on IASW! How'd you do that? My always come out blurry. Any ride with movement and they are blurry. Sounds like you had fun at the party.

Don't be nervous about taking things from the lounge--you paid for them! Yes they have wine glasses in the lounge but the are tiny! I have a plastic wine glass from target that I keep in my Owner's Locker. I think it cost about $3 and it greatly improves my "quality of vacation."
