The Overtakers are in Qahoots. FIRST WILD RIDE 15SEP2011-18SEP2011 - 01DEC2011 Updated - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Saddle Oxfords can be uncomfortable, but once broken in to the shape of your foot, they are pretty nice. They were popular again when I was in junior high and I just had to have a pair. I hated them until they were broken in and then I didn't want to wear anything else. Can't wait to see pictures of the Disney Store.

You all won't believe this...but Disney store was kind of a disappointment.
We went out Friday and got the shirts at the Manufacturer. So the guys got blue and black shirts. Wolfhunt is working on the image for the pocket on Dew's shirt...he still hasn't picked a character for himself...or maybe just hasn't told us what he's decided. The pocket so far looks really cool.
But then we went to the Disney store. First of all...it was pretty small compared to what I was expecting. They had tons of kids stuff...but barely any adult items. There were only like 2 sweatshirts and maybe 3 t-shirt styles to choose from. They did have the Magic aromatherapy on display...but not much of it.
I did get to watch...a little girl play with Belle's wand/scepter that activated the magic mirror. It was pretty neat...but I wasn't that impressed.
The viewing area for movies in the back was really small...and didn't have a comfortable seat. There was one hard flat toybox/bench to sit on that maybe fit 2 people.
So...I was disappointed. The other major thing that was cool had a MAJOR downside. They had these cool projectors that put images onto things on the walls and ceilings...but it made the store SUPER HOT. I mean sweltering...we ended up not staying long to look because the store was unbearable. It actually wasn't that crowded...they did have tons of costumes out...not as many toys...more costumes/clothes than I expected.
I didn't even find anything that I wanted to buy...which is REALLY unusual for me. I almost was tempted into the Magic lotion...but just not enough...so...I give it a 2 out of 5.
Well...appliques/outlines are done on the skirts. Working on beading on the 3 good fairies from Sleeping Beauty...and need to do some more beadwork on Tink...then I will be done. So goal was almost achieved.
I could stop where I am now...but I wanted the presentation of the fairy dust to be better...so I will likely be done this week during one of the evenings. Likely Thursday.
Now...we are exactly 9 days, 3 minutes out from departure, packing needs completed....
What a let down on the store! Remember when Disney Stores were awesome enough to hold you over until your next trip? The one by us even had a Gallery (this ended up being dangerous for my bank account). Then they became a parody of itself and I hated going in there.
I doubt we will get one here anytime soon, we have the poorest excuse for a mall I have ever seen.

I really can't wait to see the finished costumes.
Thanks. The store was truly disappointing. But I did run to JoAnn fabrics last night and got the little strips of material to make hair ties for our ponytails. So we will be very ready to go and doing well. I'm debating on getting some costume pearls to wear...but I might not have the time to go shopping for them with the Oktoberfest festival in Covington and Apple picking scheduled for this weekend.
I was pretty good last night. Went out and got 2 new name tags for 2 of my 3 dogs. Their name tags were pretty rugged and I wanted to make sure they had their proper IDs in case they got away from the dogsitter while we were gone and had to be hunted down. He's VERY VERY reliable...but the youngest a 1 year old pup...well she has gotten out the door once recently and we had a heck of a time getting her back in the house. She was leaping and galloping and thought we were playing a game of tag with her...and she was winning. I should enter her into some sort of racing/obstacle competition.
We are planning a Red Lobster All you can eat shrimp dinner tonight for all 4 of us to discuss the costumes and any last minute needs. Both Puzzlewoman and I have done our Early Check-in to the resorts and Puzzlewoman is now also PIF!!! So we are ready...I paid in full at 46 days out:
Skirts are almost completely done...my fairy dust around the 3 fairies...is almost complete. Maybe another hour of work. I can do more to Puzzlewoman's Tink as I have time over the next week. It looks complete now...but I can always bling it up more.
I went through DH's Disney shirts last night...they were stuffed haphazardly on the clothes rack...so I took them out and put them in the washing machine...to get them ready for the trip. Hopefully folding them so they aren't all wrinkled for packing. I'll be taking the Bowling shirt to Wolfhunt tonight to iron the images on...unless he wants me to iron them on...he'll just print them...we can decide tonight.
So...we are officially like 7 days and 23 hours or something like that. Can barely contain my enthusiasm. Trying to get my big projects ready at work...so I can leave for the two days. Boss has already approved the time...but I don't want to leave my teammate in the lurch with my work...so pressuring our code developers to have their implementations ready by Friday So I can have my stuff done and ready next week . The life of the System Validation Coordinator is never done.
Read the Allears article about the Haunted Mansion and now I have a goal...to check out some of the things/hints mentioned. Planning on riding the Doom Buggies next Friday before the start of the Halloween Party. Will have no time for rides during the Halloween Party...since we are goal oriented on special Character Meet and Greets, Parades, Fireworks...and special Magic Shots...I think Wolfhunt only needs 2 or 3 to complete his collection of Magic shots
So cross your fingers...that the weather turns better between now and departure. Here in Cincy today...it's currently like 58 degrees and only scheduled to go to 64. Would prefer 72...but at least it's not 102 like last week.
By the way...little FYI: We have now officially caught, 3 mice in the house. I woke up at 3 am this morning to the snap of one of the trap doors and the dogs barking. So...I'll go home tonight and scrub everything down for the 3rd time in a week. My OCD kicks in and I get grossed out by the thought of the little buggers scampering around the house and now I will have to obsessively scrub everything. Can't help it...it must be done or I will never sleep again.
Talked with my parents last night about it. My Dad, who yes has OCD, was telling me all these neat ways to get rid of them. Someone even recommded that you put Bounce sheets in places that you've seen them...guess the smell is a deterrent. Sounds kind of strange to me. We've made sure we don't have any food out or anything not sealed in plastic bins...but he said that the Dog food that we leave out probably attracts them. My folks had got them in their fancy motorcoach once...and now my Dad is as obsessed with them as I am. So...say good by to little Mickey the 3rd...he's been officially evicted...hopefully we are done...and we don't have another trap find Mickey the 4th. My hands are starting to peel from all the scrubbing and I've now broke 2 nails that I was hoping would look good for the trip...but oh well. Our Neighbors told us they'd caught 5 in 3 days. It's because the house on the other side of our neighbors. The lady had a stroke. Her two handicapped sons and she were moved to a home. All of their groceries, food and refridgerator stuffs were left in the house with the electric turned off...so the mice have been attracted to the house and now us neighbors suddenly have mice problems. Never had them before in the 14 years we've lived in the house. We are probably all going to have to contact the Board of Health to have them do something about the house since we aren't sure who owns it now...if it's still hers, the states, the boys, or whose responsibility. Whoever it is needs to do something...because the mice problem is gross and now all of us immediate neighbors are swarming with the problem. Our neighbors are even mowing her lawn to try and keep the house looking decent on the outside...but obviously the mice are attracted by the rotting food and stuff in the house.

Well...the skirts are officially done. This is my last side on my Maleficent skirt.
I also finished the scarves. Green for Puzzlewoman and Purple for me.
Puzzlewoman showed me Wolfhunt's plans for the Iron-on's for the Bowling shirts and I'm impressed.
I then sewed a button back on Dew's favorite shorts. He went through his shorts and set out what he wanted to take. I went through his tees and washed them all up to make sure...they were nice and fresh with no wrinkles.
Then I also mended a tear in the pocket of my favorite jean shorts.
So packing has commenced. Crafting on my part is done. Puzzlewoman and I have our costumes ready.
Confirmed yesterday with the Dog/House sitter. He's coming over after 7 next Wednesday night. We are going to take him out to dinner and then show him the dog's routines.
Getting very antsy....next week this time...I should be at WL in my room...hopefully...getting settled in...before taking off for DTD.
Fingers crossed...on the weather...it's not looking great for the timeframe we are there. We don't mind the storms and rain...just would prefer not to have to wear a poncho over our costumes to MNSSHP.
It's almost time! Sorry the Disney Store was a bit of a let down...I'm not crazy either about the stores these days. I understand it's for kids, but for crying out loud it's the adults that have the money to spend! Wish they had more stuff for the spenders!
Your creativity is awesome! Can't wait to see pics of you guys wearing everything!

Sorry that the Disney Store wasn't more exciting. I have to say that when they opned the one here in NY I wasn't so enthralled either...maybe I was so used to having the World of Disney here...but I don't find the draw that I used to have when we had the WOD. I pop in there once in awhile as it is across the street from me at work (need someone to disappear when the boss is driving me crazy) but it really does not have the same appeal to me.
Love the skirts, can't wait to see the pictures from the party and see everyone dressed up. Keeping my fingers crossed that you have great weather while you are there....especially for the party.

Oh my had I gotten behind! Great work on the skirts! Yuck and about the mice. Hope no more take the notion to move in! I can't believe how close you all are now.
Skirt has been delivered with scarf to Puzzlewoman. Also delivered Dew's bowling shirt....but we haven't decided if Wolfhunt or myself are doing the ironing. So we will see.
Was lazy last night and just sat in the chair in my living room, watching tv and petting my Puppies. I have 3 you know...all less than 10 lbs. Sofie is 3 lbs. Walter 4 lbs...and Mitzi about 9 lbs. But...packing has commenced...checking the weather report...it looks like I'll have to hunt down our cheap dollar store poncho packs.
