Wise Women, Good Looking Men and Way Cool Teens - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

After this we went to have dbf's first ever dole whip! he loves them. then we hit the haunted mansion. rides are always fun but really having friends with you adds to the enjoyment.
we bid everyone good night and aimed for the buses. we just missed one by about 20 seconds. but we were first in line for the next one. sadly, they made us leave our que to join Riverside's que, losing our favorite spot in line. in no time the bus arrived and we got to stand all the way home. evidently b and family took the boat back to the Poly which was good. if they hadn't they would have been on the monorail that was stuck for 4 hours, not so much fun

Yeah, we actually debated that too... when we came out of the park Chantel and I looked at each other and went boat or monorail? The boat just happened to be pulling up so we both went boat. Good thing, because I don't think any of us would have been very happy about being stuck on the monorail.
We have been to O'hana's for breakfast and for Dinner just as a family and I can tell you it is way more fun with friends!
Sorry you guys missed your bus though and had to stand E!
And how could we leave out the L I N E for the monorail when leaving the poly??!! It was like a bad day at TSMM!!!! Omg taking the boat that night probably saved someone's life... O'hana was delish and a HOOT! the emh's were some of the best ever too! How could they not be with the company we were keeping?
We got to find yet another towel critter. I don't think our housekeeper had a day off the whole time we were there! It really became a diorama at the window. I think I'll wait and show the whole bunch off. It's amazing the critters you can make with towels, washcloths and rubber bands! we even had a bunny who would sometimes be part of the diorama and sometimes be watching out the window for our return.
sounds like you had a little animal kingdom of your own going on....we only got one towel animal the entire time. i am happy with that as most times i don't get any (and yes, i do leave a little "envelope" every day for my mousekeeper...but it is a plain one. still waiting on a tutorial from you or brigett or BS to help remedy that...hint hint...) can't wait to see the whole menagerie!
what program do you want to use to do your envelopes? hint--you can do them in any word processing program--word, word perfect or any of the graphics programs. i own print shop and print master. the first one is more expensive but does a great job. the second cost $9 and it will do everything you need it to do. just make sure you have enough "free memory" to work with graphics. ask your hubby or any geek to explain that. its not only a matter of having enough hard drive space to store stuff but you need your computer to be able to handle manipulating graphics without slowing down or freezing up. i know both of those programs will also allow you to create shirts and reverse the image so you can put it on the transfer sheets. so far i've got the mousekeeping envelopes done for the oct trip and some of the restruant envelopes done. now i'm looking for graphics for shirts.

woke early again. today we are to meet folks for a balloon ride in DTD. it hasn't flown any time that we have been in DTD, except when we are no where near it or planning to fly in it.
at 9:30 we arrive and find Betty Sue who has already talked to the pilot and been told the balloon won't be flying until 10:30. she called the others to let them know. they have plans to go the House of Blues Gospel brunch so a group ride doesn't look likely. we hang out there since the pilot tells us they really think it will go up at 10:30. they test and think maybe another 30 minutes. so well, we have a lunch scheduled at raglan rd. While we wait another couple comes up and reads the menu and asks us if we have eaten there before. of course, we tell them how awesome the place is and this is our second time this trip and we eat there every trip. they thank us, chat for another moment and wander on down the sidewalk.
we are seated by the hostess, Chelsea, so remembers us from the previous visit. our server is Erin. dbf has cream of asparagus soup, chicken with wild mushroom pie and bailies irish cream brule. i have the BLT-Egg sandwich and the bread pudding. at some point, i went to the ladies room and a lady at a table there waves me down. its the couple we chatted with before coming in. they decided to take our recommendation of the place and they LOVE it! Turns out they are locals, both Irish, and can't believe they've not tried the place before. soon its dbf's turn for a visit to the boy's room and they stop him also to thank him for telling them about the place. turns out the man is a vietnam vet who was shot and they thought he would never walk again or speak. he speaks just fine and has a small limp. we so tend to chat with folks where ever we go, drives my son crazy!!
anyway, we are near the end of our dinner and they are on their entree. dbf and i discussed that fact that we have lots of points left on our dinning plan. i remember someone here talking about buying strangers dinner. woohoo, we decide to buy the couple a dinner and get out of there before they know it. erin says it can be done and she sneaks over to talk with matt, their server. the card is passes, we are moments from gathering our stuff and getting away. suddenly a shadow falls over our table! its the lady, who says, "did you think you could buy us a dessert or drinks and we woulnd't know it was you? like we know anyone else in here." she puts 2 disney gift cards on the table and says "karma." and walks away. dbf puts the tip in the envelope, $30 incase Erin has to split the tip with matt, if not, its an early christmas present.
we beat a hastey retreat since she really only mentioned us buying dessert or drink, our hope was she didn't know it was the whole dinner!
we head for the bus stop right in the area in front of raglan rd. for once POFQ is the first space, we've never the first place. anyway we board a bus for old key west. wow, its a beautiful, huge place. we get on a bus there to go to DHS
first stop in dhs, ToT! omg, i love that ride!! from there we headed to RnRC. i asked about the car you can try to see if you fit--dear me, its over the river and through the woods to get to the back room where they keep it. size-wise i would fit but the right kneee was happy about the step in height. it was then the lady said that they have cars where the sides open but i would have to be in a wheel chair to get one of those. dbf says he won't ride if i can't, so sadly we leave there. we moseyed around, found the perfect gift for my boss's grandson at tatooine traders and got that sent to the room.
14 passporters are to meet at 50 PrimeTime for dinner, another first for me on several levels. we've never eaten there and i've not met many of these folks.
Great update!
How nice of you to buy that family dinner!!
I bet they were on cloud 9 when they realized it was the whole dinner!
someone here suggested it in their trip report, it seemed like such a wonderful way to use those points that we knew were going to be left over. everyone at POFQ was on the dining plan!
Okay, so I have totally missed this one up to now!!! Dummy me kept waiting for the pre-trip report to turn into the TR!! I haved loved catching up, but woefully have missed adding some of my pics and thoughts in. So sorry I ddn't find this when you started it, E. I may gather my thoughts and add a few pics a little later. Gret TR!!!!!
(PS - Thanks Diz for giving me the kick in the b*** to look elsewhere for the report!!)

The lunch thing was such an Elaine thing to do! The more I go to Disney, the more I realize that making the magic is even better than waiting for some to be handed to you!
