Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

So, after the "Three Habaneros" we had went back to Future World, and tried Mission Space. We've always just done the play around stuff, but never the missions themselves. I am an adrenaline junkie, and would love to do Orange, but I really wanted the whole family to enjoy it together, so we all went in and did Green. It was so much fun! DH is a constant ham - and he decided to start a medley of "Leaving on a Jet Plane" as our group was taken back to the concourse. (Armageddon is one of his favorite movies, and I'm sure he was planning that for months before the trip!) Of course, DH and DS15 had to get all goofy and joke around in there, and turn every little button and gadget on the panels into something perverse, or a fart noise, or something silly - but that just made it even more fun. We were laughing so hard by the time we got out of there I thought I was going to pee my pants. Sadly, I actually have no pictures to share of this ride, or any of the after-stuff.

After that, we stopped at Club Cool. Any of you who've visited before know what I mean when I say "beware the wrath of Beverly!" .... The one thing I really hate about Club Cool is that the bottom of your shoes is totally sticky the rest of the day, and so are your kids!

We went back on Spaceship Earth again, and milled about the other half of innoventions, by then it was time to hop the boat to the other side of the lagoon to have dinner at Chefs de France! Oooh La La...... I will continue later, as it is time for my dinner here.....

So, Chefs de France...

This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in World Showcase, and believe it or not, I had a much better steak here, than I had at LeCellier last year! And, when we were choosing our ressies for this year, we opted to leave LeCellier off the list in favor of Chefs, so that we could try some new stuff too.

Our ressie was for 7:00pm, it was packed, lots of people waiting around outside too. I thought for sure we'd be waiting well past our ADR time. I checked in at 6:45, and we were called and seated at 6:52!

We were hoping to see Remy while we were there, but sadly he was having mechanical difficulties that day, so no Remy! DS7 was very bummed, but the giant chocolate chip cookie he got for dessert made him feel much, much better.

So, here's what we ate:

Appetizers:
Me- French Onion Soup! I always get it, and it's the best I've ever had! I'm dying for some right now just thinking about it!
DH- Lobster Bisque- he'd never tried lobster before, he said it was too fishy for him.
DS15- Escargot- he'd never tried it before, so why not! These are an acquired taste. He said they were very "earthy" and that they have a strange texture.
DS7- salad
Entrees:
All three of us had the beef tenderloin with peppercorn sauce and potato gratin and green beans. This tenderloin has a perfect char on it, excellent seasoning, and is cooked to perfection. You can cut it with a fork! The potatoes are excellent, as are the green beans. YUMMO.
DS7 - had a burger & fries. (big surprise, right?)
Dessert:
Me- puff choux with vanilla ice cream & chocolate sauce - I love this, the pastry is just fluffy on the inside & crusty on the outside, the ice cream is perfect vanilla bean, and you could put chocolate sauce on anything and I'd eat it!
DH- creme brulee. He loved it. The only thing that disappointed him is that for some reason it didn't have the hard shell on it like it usually has. ?
DS15- He had some kind of chocolate mousse cake thing that was fabulous. Very rich. He refused to share it.
DS7- a really, really big chocolate chip cookie, it was the size of a frizbee.

We love Chefs de France, the ambiance, the location, the service, the food. This is a must on our list every year - it's a good thing we are on the Deluxe Dining Plan - we have a lot of "musts"!!!

We were done with dinner about 8:30, and decided to make our way around the lagoon, and watch Illuminations from the other end, so we wouldn't have to fight our way through as much of a crowd to get to the buses. We watched from the back side of the gift shop near the boat launch just to the left of the Canada pavillion. A decent spot with a good view. There were quite a few people there, we could still see, but I didn't bother taking any pictures because I would have had a lot of heads in them!

Love all of the updates. Pics were great. I can't believe how your DS15 likes to try such different things. I would be very proud of him.
I can't wait to try the Kim Possible thing and we still have yet to ride Maelstrom. It was down our last trip.
Everything sounds so wonderful so far. I am glad you guys had such a great trip.

Thank you! Yes, Michael is a very adventurous eater, he will try anything once - he is much more adventurous than me, that's for sure. We had a wonderful trip, and we're already talking about what we want to do for next year!

DAY#4 HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS!!!

We got up at 6:30, showered and dressed, dragged the kids out of bed, and got to the Trinidad South bus stop at 7:40. The bus for DHS pulled up at 7:45, and we were the last stop, so we headed straight out to DHS, and got there in 5 minutes. We had to wait around a few minutes before the CM's would let us in - they don't start letting the breakfast people in the park until 7:55. Then we headed over to Hollywood & Vine. (I gave a review & pics of this earlier, so I am not going to touch on it again, except to say that we really enjoy it here, and it's a great way to get in to the park before opening - and a to get a strategic position for TSMM!)

After breakfast we took our spot by the boat/Jessica billboard and chatted with a friendly CM for a few minutes before he took us and about 6 other guests over to an area near the hat where the Toy Story Mania CM's were located, who were going to take the rope drop crowd over to the ride in an "orderly fashion", and we were able to "blend in" to the front part of the group rather easily. The whole thing just felt really strange and very much like we were in school or something!

Anyhoo, we rode TSMM 3-4 times, and I still can't break 180K on that darn ride!!! I am ambidextrous, so I tried a new strategy, when one hand gets tired, I start firing away with the other, and my score got better, but not that much.
Ah, well, what can you do. We did find a great strategy guide on YouTube, which seemed to help, and DS15 has a high score of 238k, but that's the best any of us has done yet. Here's the link to the strategy guide if any of you need it...

YouTube - Toy Story Mania - Strategy Guide

After we finished up our hooplah at TSMM, we went to Muppets 3D....one of our absolute favorites! I really miss watching the Muppet Show on TV.....

Loving the updates!! So much fun to read! I was glad to hear that the kids enjoyed Restaurant Marrakesh. My DD age 10 wants to go there for the belly dancing and I was worried about the food (she's adventerous though, so not to worried). Can't wait to read more. Your pics are helping me with the wait until our trip

After Muppets 3D, we did a few other things, Backlot tour, character pics, and then the boys started getting on each other's nerves, poking at each other, yelling, we realized that they've spent a little too much time together, and they needed to separate for a little bit. So, first I took Matthew and we tried to get into Jedi Training ....AGAIN....with no luck, and then did a little shopping and had a snack, while Tony and Michael Rocked the Roller Coaster....

So, then, when Tony and Michael came back, we switched off, and Tony took Matthew to the Indiana Jones Stunt Show, and Michael and I went and rode Rock n Roller Coaster a couple of times, and spent a little time in the gift shops too....

I can't stress this enough - sometimes too much family togetherness can be a bad thing! So, a couple of hours separated is just enough time to give everyone a break, give the kids some individual attention, and give the parents back some sanity!

By this time, we were ready for lunch, and back to Sci Fi we went! Unfortunately, there are not many TS places at Hollywood, in fact, there are not many decent places to eat at DHS that my family finds appealing, period. Hollywood & Vine is good, we've had breakfast and dinner there, but it's not spectacular. Brown Derby is overrated and not worth 2 credits. Mama Melroses is totally Americanized Italian food that is overspiced, overcheesed, and so not what I would choose to eat - you can get better from the freezer section at the grocery store. We've had very hit and miss experiences at 50's Prime Time Cafe, the only reason to go ther IMO is the "entertainment" you're supposed to get from the wait staff - and the past several times we've gone we haven't gotten any at all! Our first time going to Prime Time in 2000 was great, we had Cousin Chris and he was fantastic, but since then all the others have been plain boring, non-interractive, and it's been a waste of time & dining credits. The food there isjust okay, nothing to write home about - it's stuff that you cook at home, meatloaf, chicken, pot roast, not stuff that I would normally order at a restaurant, especially one that costs that much! So, moving on to CS places - there's the Commissary - which by the way is no longer serving the Cuban Sandwich! We had lunch there the Monday before we came home, and it was off the menu, it was replaced with some Chicken Bleu Sandwich.
There's Toy Story Pizza Planet, Backlot Express. All of them are OK, but nothing special. Anyway, we really like SciFi, so we went there for lunch again, here's what we had:
Appetizer:
Me-onion rings
DH- spinach & artichoke dip
DS15- Chili
Entree:
Me- smoked turkey sandwich & fries
DH- Angus Chuck burger & fries
DS15- ribs & fries
DS7- burger, fries, ice cream sundae
dessert:
Me- peanut butter chocolate cake
DH- apple crumble
DS15- hot fudge sundae
and, we all had various milkshakes to drink, I know! It was soooo much food! But, we were smart, we had a little bit of the appetizers, half of the milkshakes, and half of the entrees and desserts, otherwise we would have been sick! But, everything was just excellent, and no one had anything bad to say, and against my better judgement, I devoured that entired peanutbutter chocolate cake because well it was just way too good to leave any on the plate!!!
