Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Nala,
Love the page. I like your use of the dictionary. Do you have one dictionary that you are using and ripping up as necessary??

I was wondering about the sepia tone. I wasn't sure if it was bruising because of the new tattoo or if it was actually sepia tone.

I can't believe you guys are posting more than one layout!! Good for you, but I haven't even finished my first! I do have it mostly done, just need to go print out the picture at Walgreens in a 5x7 format (and I might even try sepia!!!)

Maggie

Maggie,

At first I thought you were talking about the definitions I have of "love" (bottom left) or the one of "tattoo" (under top right of heart) but then I realized I have dictonary paper on the right side of the page. (I forgot I did that)

The paper on the right is out of a scrap pack I got somewhere a few years back. The sheets are about 4 x 6 and I just put two of the same sheets on top of each other to cover the lenght of the page. For the "love" and "tatoo" definitions I used my handy Webster's and typed them into my word program and then printed them out and trimmed to the size I needed. That also allowed me to pick what part of the definition I wanted on the page. But your idea of having a dictonary on hand to tear up and use on a page is brilliant! I am going to have to go in search of one (or two) for just that reason. I think I will also look for a Webster's in large print! Thanks for the inspiration!!

The Grumpy tat is only done in black, brown and white (on the eyes and a bit on the beard). The artist said if Grumpy wanted to come back and have the red added to his shirt and more brown to his pants, he would be happy to do it. I said no, as I love the look of it the way it is!

And Michelle, don't give up on your DH. Mine six years ago was a hater of all things Disney (hence the nickname of Grumpy) . There is hope!!!!

masonsmousermom,

Those pages are great. That quote is perfect with your pictures. What a precious page. And I love the NASA space suit shot. Thanks for sharing.

And thanks for everyone's kind comments. They mean so much to me. I am very shy about showing my work except to you guys because you are all so supportive.

Carol: Another wonderful page! count me in as one who thought the bonnet was a actual lace or a sticker. Very cool!

Robin: Belle is so photogenic and a ham for the camera! the pages and the added embellishments of her namesake make the pages.

Nala: I love your almost no use of ribbon! Seriously, what a great gift from Grumpy and the page wonderfully displays it.

kmurburg: I love the story behind your February page! I love the idea of calendar pages and you have shown us such a great selection so far.

Shelly: I really love both your pages. The carousel layout is classic and I the quote. I love the paper on the "Love is Strange" layout!

kmburg, i really like the journaling on your page telling the story of the birthday hat. That's a really cute idea.

Shelly, "love is strange" was a great quote for your page.

RobinKay - love the Belle pages; we have similar pages - but for the humans as Belle is a middle name for several generations in our family.

Nala - I look at your pages and think how boring mine seem. I'm just starting to get "brave" in using a variety of papers - yours are absolutely gorgeous...an eye for blending!

Kmurburg - I love the birthday hat story too! You've given me a new idea for next Christmas when I drag out our 'strange' Christmas hats. Thanks for the inspiration!

masonsmousermom - Is that the Mickey & Minnie kissing paper from the Paper Pizazz book? Neat idea! Loved the colors and blending and journaling on Mission Space!

abh- It is the Mickey/Minnie kissing paper- not sure where I got it from- it was a X-mas gift from my sisiter. My family has given up on getting me anything that is not somehow related to Disney! And I don't mind one bit!

Thank you to everyone that has commented on my pages. Most of my quotes I have found on the internet, and then I transfer them to a word document, enclose them in a text box or a shape (like the heart) and print them on vellum paper. They come out just as nicely as the vellum packets that I have bought from stores, AND I can personalize them!

Nala- I LOVE your pages! My pages are always so symetrical and organized; I love how you layer your work and use many different textures and shades. It's very inspiring!

I have to say that I have been avoiding scrapping since our third trip to Disney. I always said that I was too busy. But, I've found that my DS, Mason, (age 4) LOVES LOVES LOVES to "do his crafts" with mom and so we scrapbook together. It's been a great bonding experience. He enjoys reminiscing with me about Disney and he builds paper rocket ships and makes pirate flags while I do my Disney pages.

Oh, this reminds me so much of my youngest son, when he was about 7 or 8, he furthered the paper airplane idea and made paper "things" from disney! He made kali river rapids, tower of terror (and it had an elevator box that he could pull up or down) and splash mt. They were such a hoot. We just threw them away about a year ago, I sure hope I have pictures somewhere in my stack of UNSCRAPPED photos!

Well, we've been going for 9 years now and the only thing he's agreed to wear was a shirt last Sept. for MNSSHP and it was very SUBTLE disney, but I guess I need to look on the bright side because that was an improvement. Baby steps, right? He did, however, make me promise to never ask him to wear anything disney again! I wonder if a tatoo counts, ha, that's a good one!

ACK!! I ruined my February challenge page I had been working on!! I took a picture on DH's birthday to use for this page. I took a landscape shot and a portrait shot. I had my whole page pretty much done except for the picture. Well, the vertical picture didn't turn out right, so I had to use the horizontal picture. But it didn't quite fit on the page as I had it organized!! So I tried to remove a couple of the sticker letters and ripped the background page!!! Now I have to go out and buy another piece of the background paper. Oh man!

Sorry to hear that Maggie. I do that more often than I care to admit and it is so frustrating!!! Hope you can get it put back together without any more glitches.

O.K., in the midst of two sick children, I decided to get my Feb. challenge done before I get the bug and miss the challenge.

Let me start by saying "hearts" was hard for me, so it was a good challenge. I never would have made this page to look like this and it's good to challenge your style! I hand cut the red heart and blue matting because I don't have much for hearts in my stash. DH and I don't go out for Valentine's Day much anymore and I have two boys, don't have many "girlie" pages with hearts, so I needed to think of what else I could do with the heart theme. Scrapping, of course! This is a layout from our annual Mall of America meet with Passporter friends. It's hard to read, but the black words sticker under the girl sticker who is holding a scrapbook page says, "just one more page". AND, ignore my crooked picture on my white towel, ha! (I had to do a 2005 layout because I don't have my 2006 pics printed yet, how embarrasing! Oh well, I got my challenge page done before the end of the month!!!)

Michelle! That turned out wonderful! Love the colors, the mix of dots and stripes and the way you used different sizes of photos. The title is fantastic.

I have to tell you that I am also not a fan of hearts but it forced us to try something we don't usually do. And like you said, that made for a great challenge.

I can't wait to see how Marcie challenges all of us for March!
