As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Just catching up! You should have a little more time to enjoy yourself when you finish that class. I totaled a car in December so I feel your pain about all the red tape, paperwork, phone calls, etc. that go along with it. I know you and your DD probably don't want to hear this right now (because I didn't either at the time), but it could have been so much worse - cars are replaceable, but she isn't!
OMG, Dawn -- what is the saying, "when it rains, it pours"! I agree with the previous poster, maybe you should have let the nail salon owner call the police. It certainly sounds like he not only has fake licenses, but possibly also some employees who might not have their green cards. Sick the State Board of Cosmo and the BBB on them.

Ahhhhh...sometimes "ER" is a GOOD thing! I got an ER today (early release) so I only had to work 3 hours. I did sing the Dinoland Birthday Song I wrote to a couple of my managers today and they LOVED it, so you might be hearing it soon...
Today was uneventful at work, just opened the games and then tidied shelves, greeted guests, made sure the games peeps all had water, rang up a few sales, went home. I hardly know what to do with myself! I'm going to go ahead and start my final paper this afternoon and I'll probably try to get some scrapbooking in. I have SO much to do, but finding the time to set aside for it is difficult.
We did go to the pool yesterday for about an hour which was so nice. I made homemade bread, brownies for dessert, and we had spaghetti for dinner. 10yo dimmed the lights and I sang Bella Notte while I was fixing the plates. They were giggling and couldn't believe I remembered all the words. After we ate, we played a game of Clue where I pulled out all of my "accents". Col. Mustard is German, Miss Scarlet is Southern, Professor Plum is English, etc. I thought we were going to pass out from laughing so hard. It wound up being a great day.

Whats an early release? You leave early? Without pay? Or you have to use PTO?
An early release is when you volunteer to have your shift cut short. They usually offer them if they are over-staffed. You leave early, without any penalty or notation on your record card, but the downside is it is without pay. I was heading into 6 days (the scheduler messed up my days off again next week), plus I've got my final paper due in a week, so I thought I'd take advantage of the offer.
I got a bit of a start on my paper today, but I got some scrapbooking done, too. It's part of my job as the RAFIKI to put together some photos, so I'm trying my hand at digital scrapping. I'm enjoying it, only, my computer wouldn't read the SD card and we can't find our camera cables, so I had to download them to DD's computer then have her email me the photos. I still don't have all the pictures I've taken, but it was enough to get a good start. I'm using the Creative Memories program with the Disney kits and I REALLY like it.
I baked bread today, which DDs have decided it's really "just plain silly to buy it from the store when Mom can make it". I tend to agree with them, at least I know what goes into it and can make it healthier. It is, however, going to be the next thing I teach them to do in the kitchen so I'm not responsible for it every night.
ETA: I'm quite surprised by the much quieter and lower levels of stress that we're experiencing here. I thought it would be more chaotic with all 4 DDs around, but it hasn't been bad at all (aside from the car drama that is still ongoing). Maybe it's a different kind of stress and I find that I am much more at ease. I don't "hide" as much as I did back in Ohio. I talk to hubby once a day, maybe twice, but those conversations are fairly short, I recap my day, he listens, the end. He gives me facts I need to know (how much the water bill is, his Dad is sick, that sort of thing), but doesn't talk about anything else. Oh, and we have to do a Lost recap every week where he continues to shoot down any of my theories. He has started back into some of the conspiracy stuff, so when he mentions the US breaking apart in 2010, I tend wind down the conversation. I didn't realize how much walking on eggshells and irritability there was before...

Dawn - I'm glad you got to leave early. Sounds like you needed it, just to get your mind prepared for the coming week.
I'm a bit saddened to hear that you're more relaxed and things are easier with the 4 DDs and no DH than it was with 2 DDs and the DH. Glad you are relaxed and you all seem to be getting on fairly well, but sounds like it's nice not to have your DH around.
You still inspire me - anytime I think I'm getting too drowned in paper work, school, school work, and clinicals, I just think of all you're doing and challenge myself to do as well. Keep it up!
Dawn, have you tried any of the Artisan Bread in 5 Minute a Day recipes? You can mix up the dough , keep it in the refrigorator and then pull out what you want to bake every day- its very good and super easy- and just as tasty as any other home made bread-

I just spent the better part of my evening catching up on your adventures. You've inspired and amazed me! And now you know why I never made it as a stay at home mom. Work is much easier! Keep up the good work, and I'm looking forward to reading more.
