The Trip Full of Spontaneity TR July 22-26 - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I will look over your TR tomorrow as getting late. I know your frustration about PB as it's just corporate greed and they think they can get away with it. I'm hoping it bites them in the rear and they have the sense to see how many customers they will lose by charging with their top plan just for 3rd party hosting. It's just ludicrous and they must have the most moronic people making these decisions!
I'm not going to spiel too much more as I've voiced so much about this on the thread regarding this. DMA started it and glad she did! Just makes no sense going from paying nothing from the hosting to $400 a year (one payment) and now a beta contract offered to some (like myself and Shadowryter as we received yesterday on Thursday). Get this and grab your heart! ..... They are offering one month plans at $59.99! Are they serious? That's $720 a year for something I was getting for free! I know it includes the ultimate plan of photo storage but just looking for hosting plans. Don't need the extra storage yet but probably soon as 72% full with free plan at 10 GB. Called P500 plan as 500 equals GBs. YIKES! Perhaps they devised a plan to screw their customers in connection with the US Congress as something they'd do!
Here's the link to the thread. I've said way too much already! Time to get rid of Congress and start from scratch and term limits! That's it on politics for me here as it's PP! I'm just too honest and could never run for public office!
I got that same email. It was so stupid! I'll check out Shutterfly, since Cam mentioned it.

We were dumped with buckets of pixie dust on this trip.

I certainly intend to keep going and I hope others will. I will look at other sites to see what works for me and at least I'm in a more fortunate position and know my photos will remain in existing trip reports for almost a year (June 2018), so that's something, but I'm darned if one company is going to beat me.
There... off my soapbox now!
You have a good point. I just didn't even know Passporter could accept anything but Photobucket. I'll give Shutterfly a try.

I felt the same way about writing TRs when I first heard from Photobucket.
But since other options have been mentioned I'm thinking I will just switch over to one of them for my next TR. Shutterfly sounds like the best bet.
Thanks! Shutterfly is definitely what I'm going to check out.

The next morning we slept in for awhile, took our time getting ready, and then headed for some breakfast at Pepper Market.
We met up with my buddy John Mancini!
He is the best guy ever! He pixie dusted us with some extra Fastpasses for the next couple of days. I had received three for Magic kingdom from a friend who couldn't use them. Those were what we were planning to use for the day.
I got my usual Mickey Waffles
And afterward we went to Magic Kingdom. I spotted Thumper.
We then used our Fastpass for Pirates of the Caribbean. The Photopass wasn't working on that ride.
We met up with my buddy Mark, who brought Tim a swim suit, since he forgot his. They headed off for Big Thunder Mountain and I headed for Rapunzel and Tiana.
I grabbed a raspberry lemonade slushy on the way.
Photopass pictures coming later but I had a great visit with Rapunzel and Tiana. The guys then went on Seven Dwarves Mine Train. I dragged Mark onto it's a small world.
I'm so glad we rode this. Last year I got to listen to Marty Dklar talk and he said it's a small world was his favorite ride. With hearing of his passing this week, it holds a special place in my heart now more than ever.
Tim and I then rode Peter Pan.
And then met up with Mark again. We all got another Fastpass for Ariel's Under the Sea Voyage.
We then got a Fastpass for Buzz Lightyear. Mark tried to show Tim how to get galactic hero. Mark got it, but Tim didn't quite get there.
After that we split up and headed to the Polynesian by boat.
And soon we had arrived. It was our first time here. We kept trying to get here on previous trips, but something always happened. Finally, we had made it.
We checked out the gift shop, then headed upstairs to 'Ohana. I was finally getting Tim there at last!
We had a perfect view of the Castle.
Tim liked the bread. I didn't because I don't like coconut.
The salad was good.
Our server brought us leis.
Soon came the potstickers, chicken wings, noodles and veggies. I liked the pot stickers the most. All were decent. Tim liked the wings.
Then they brought some chicken. This was cooked through but ice cold so I didn't like that. Then they brought some steak. Tim liked this better than I did. I had a tough piece. Then they brought the shrimp. I liked the shrimp and ate more of that than anything.
Then came the famous bread pudding.
What did I think? I thought it was good. However, I liked the bread pudding at Raglan Road better.
Our server also brought us cupcakes. Tim ate his. I could not.
We then paid our bill and headed to the bus stop to meet back up with Mark

I love the Haunted Mansion Dooneys and the dresses in the first pictures. I'm glad you were able to get to DS while waiting for your room to be ready. You know I'm not that fortunate, Chris would have just sat in the lobby and waited
I'll have to try the ribs when we go, those looked really good. Looks like a great time at MK and your update is really making me miss 'Ohana.
What a great start to your day with Mickey waffles and extra FastPasses! Lunch at 'Ohana looked delicious!
It was magical for sure!
