Free + Still Good + F&WF = Let's Go TR!!! Completed! - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Now that's what I call a lot of great interaction - my favourite has to be Pluto. The shots of him down on all fours is just brilliant! I also love the shot of the two of you in Japan.
Lots of character fun at DHS! Pluto was great with the scratching and I love Minnie's new set up. More great tasting at the F&WF. I was too full by the time we got to Africa to try the spinach and cheese paneer. Maybe it will be back this year. Great PhotoPass pics from this day.
As soon as I saw that Kalua Pork Slider with Sweet and Sour Dole Pineapple Chutney and Spicy Mayonnaise I immediately tracked a recipe down and pinned it. That looks so good.
You and your husband are so cute. Looking forward to reading more.
Ooh - can you share the recipe or where you found it??? Those were one of our favorites!!! Thanks for the compliment on Scott & I

Thanks!!! Pluto was so much fun!!! I have to sadly say, I personally was a bit disappointed with the paneer . It was good, but I had really been looking forward to it, and it was just eh.

Pluto has always been a favorite of mine at meets! I love just treating him as my dog-- petting, and scratching-- and the response is usually adorable! Great time noshing and sipping around Epcot!
Sure, here's the recipe I found. I don't use banana leaves when I make kalua pork, I line the bottom of the crock pot with bacon per my favorite food blogger Nom Nom Paleo.
just jumping in to read up on your F&W trip, as we are heading down in Oct/Nov!
Wanted to say, first- your pics are AMAZING, especially the animal activity!!!
and also, I am surprised at the number of Photopass photographers you found! I have been reading that they are "disappearing"....
so maybe I will re-think the Memory Maker.
I will DEFINITELY re-think just using my snack credits for F&WF. You seem to be able to do WAY more than that in a night....
ok, mentally adding to the budget!! lol

After a quick rest/change of clothes back at POP, we were ready to PARTY at the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!!!! We were able to get tickets for tonight’s event and I was SUPER EXCITED!!!
We arrived at MK around 6:30ish, got our bands and went right through to the hub to get some photos of some of the décor! I love these little statues!
We knew our mission tonight would be characters!!! When we come to these parties, we tend to steer clear of the rides, and do the things that only occur for the parties.
So we headed for our first character meet of the evening – and it was with Terrance and Tinker Bell!!! I was so excited when we saw Terrance – as he is Emily’s very favorite of the fairies – so of course I had Scott take a phone photo and I sent it with a text that her friend said hello – my phone rang almost immediately!!!
When we came out we knew that Tarzan would be coming out soon, so we got in line – it wasn’t long before they were coming out – however, at first it was just Jane and Terk – then while we were still there, Tarzan came out – so we got all 3 together!
We did a bit of the candy trails and rode Pirates of the Caribbean.
Man – does time fly by fast when you’re having fun! Before we knew it – it was time for the parade – so we found a seat outside of Pecos Bills (somehow Scott was hungry – so he grabbed something to eat, okay I shared!) and we were able to see most of the parade from here – with me sticking my lens through the fence!
I finally got the headless horseman!!!
After the parade, we wanted to find the Photopass Photographer with the hitchhiking ghosts – and we did!
And the Ghost Horseman!
Next we headed towards Fantasyland to find the Seven Dwarves – of course there is always a long line for these guys – but I believe we only waited about 30 minutes or so.
We caught some of Hallowishes from behind the castle area.
Then we saw Mad Hatter and Alice with no line!
Checking the times guide – we saw that Donald and “friends” would be out in the Storybook Circus area – so we went over there – they were not out at that time, but the CM told Scott to wait, as Donald would be out as soon as he checked on his nephews……….poor Scott got his hopes up thinking that Huey, Dewey & Louie were coming out……………it was Donald and Daisy in their Halloween Costumes.
Then we headed over to Tomorrowland to catch the Monster Bash! I had a lot of fun dancing with all the Monsters!!! The big orange one – George Sanderson really liked to dance!!!
Buzz Lightyear was next – he was right outside his ride!
Then we made our way back up Main Street, as we wanted to meet Jack & Sally! On our way there, we met up with Lady Tremaine, Drizella, and Anastasia ~ they were feisty as ever, trying to pick up guys on the street!
We got in line for Jack & Sally with the rest of the park……….actually we waited about 45 minutes for them! I was kind of shocked that their line was longer than the dwarves! But they were A LOT of fun!
It was time for the last villain party – so we headed up to the castle stage to watch this! What a great show! I had missed it last year, very happy that I caught it this time!
And after the show we met Judge Claude Frollo:
And Maleficient!
I managed to get a couple of night time photos of my castle!
And then we rode Haunted Mansion – by now it was almost midnight – and it was walk on!
After we came off HM, the party was over and the park was closing…….we didn’t even get to get a Photopass Photo on Main Street – oh well, next time.
We took the bus back to POP and called it a night – tomorrow would be our last day.
Up Next: More Animal Kingdom!

You certainly made the most of the party! I love all your parade pics and you did really well getting all those characters, especially with such short waits for the dwarves and Jack and Sally.
I tell you what, people say that we're always on the go and pack a lot in - but my goodness, I think you guys pack in more!
