Just Keep Swimming - Our First Disney Trip TR - COMPLETE 3/21!! - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

nice pics. Sounds like a perfectly splendid day in MK. Sorry about the bus and boats. I think getting to DTD is always a pain. I usually have a car and just drive myself. Looking forward to hearing more.
I woke up around seven on Wednesday and I promptly woke up Zac.We still hadn't been able to get in touch with our investigator so I talked to Dad on the phone that morning. He suggested to call my cousin who is a lawyer and get some advice.I got phone numbers and gave her a call. She said all I could do was done, which was informing my bank and cancelling my card. Although she said I should file a police report. Which is what I went to do.
I found the number for the county sheriff and gave them a call. They had an officer on their way to our room. I was really nervous because I've never had to deal with policemen before. That and I wanted to get a good start at Magic Kingdom, our park for the day.
It wasn't too long before the officer showed up and started asking me questions about what happened. He was nice but I found him to be a bit condescending. Granted, I am rather naive about people. He said my number was most likely skimmed off my card. The officer informed me that this happens a lot at Disney! I was shocked.
While I was starting to fill out the report, he got Disney security to come by. A security guy came and took a report of what happened. Apparently my investigator never let them know. Then the heads of Housekeeping and Security were in my room. It was a bit overwhelming. But I stayed calmed and finished writing out my report.
Everyone seemed really apologetic about what happened. After everyone had heard the story of what happened and all the paperwork was taken care of, they all left.
Well, now it was time to head for Magic Kingdom! It was around 11 at this point and we wanted to go. There was still so much to do!
Are you sure what you took for being condescending wasn't the officer doing his best to be empathetic Hopefully the entire problem was eventually resolved
Part Eight: Fairies! Fairies! Fairies! (September 12th)
Part Eight: Fairies! Fairies! Fairies! (September 12th)
We took the bus from the resort to Magic Kingdom. I felt like it took entirely too long. But it was just me being impatient. Today was the day I would get to meet the Disney Fairies, who I adore. Also, we had a dinner ADR at Cinderella's Royal Table.
We got into the park rather quickly and took the time to look around Main Street since we didn't get a chance yesterday. I wasn't too impressed with the shops. It was pretty much the same stuff I saw in the stores in Downtown Disney. We passed by Tomorrowland with me saying that we spent enough time there yesterday and I wanted to see other parts of the park.
We went to Adventureland because, of course, I needed my Fairies fix. We hit a very brief patch of rain but continued on because we saw no reason to hide in a store for such a short spell. At first we weren't sure how to go, but a Cast Member showed us the way on our map. I quickly found the Fairies building. The line was over a half hour long but I didn't care. There were some cute movie clips on a screen nearby that held my attention. That and the children in front of me were really interested in my pins and my autograph book.
We finally got to the front of the line and I did very well not to peak around the corner. I was hoping to see Rosetta and Tink and Vidia but once I got around, I was slightly disappointed. They had already switched over to the Secret of the Wings layout. Which meant only Tinkerbell and Periwinkle were there. Now, the new movie hadn't come out yet so I wasn't sure how to feel about Periwinkle. And I was a little sad that two of my favorite Fairies (Rosetta and Vidia) weren't there. But I put my best foot forward. After all, I had waited a very long time (before coming to Disney and while in line) to meet the Fairies.
Tinkerbell was so enthusiastic and peppy. She made me feel better instantly. I asked her how the other fairies were and she said they were all in Pixie Hollow. I also asked her about Queen Clarion and got a similar response. I wish I could remember exactly what she said. Next time I'll have to bring a video camera. She really liked my pins and called them "Lost Things". She also saw that I had a Periwinkle pin and wanted to show Periwinkle but she was busy with other children. She also showed me how her wings lit up because she was near Periwinkle. We took pictures together and I moved onto Peri. I was shy at first because I wasn't sure what to ask her. But she helped me open up and we had fun and got pictures together too.
After meeting the Fairies we decided to get lunch. We hit up Tortuga Tavern. I'm pretty sure I had a chicken burrito. I can't remember what Zac had. It was super delicious. While we were eating there was another "rain storm" but we were under a canopy so we stayed dry. It was sort of funny seeing other people scramble. After lunch we went on Pirates which was super fun. We also went on the Jungle Cruise. I wanted to get Fast Passes but Zac said the line didn't look too bad. I loved the Jungle Cruise. Our "tour guide" was really good on her delivery of jokes.
After the cruise we went towards Liberty Square. I decided that I wanted to play the Sorcerers game. We went over to one of the CMs who was in charge for that area. She was super helpful in helping us understand how to play. I got some cool cards and our first round was in Adventureland. On the way back we stopped at the Haunted Mansion. It was scary! Well, not jump out of my seat scary, but creepy shivery scary. Which is better in my opinion.
We went through the missions in Adventureland. It was super fun to play and thankfully there weren't lines to use the portals. It told us the next set of missions was in Fantasyland. Funny enough, we wanted to go there next! We started off there and found that there were lines to use the portals there. I was a bit disappointed. We got to do two steps after we just gave up waiting. Especially since some people had the same mission and I was getting spoiled. We decided to see Mickey's Philharmagic again. So much fun! Then we got fast passes for Winnie the Pooh and got surprise fast passes for Dumbo!
Before heading to WtP we went on IASW. Zac dreaded it because he hates the song and apparently he got stuck on the ride in Disneyland once. But he did it for me. <3 After that we had time to go on Peter Pan's Flight again. It was fun but seemed shorter than the last time. Then it was time to go to WtP. The fast passes got us quickly through the line and we got in. Oh my goodness this was such a fun ride. The only downer was that the ride stopped a bunch of times because they had to help people on. Still, it was very enjoyable.
Then we went to Dumbo. Even with FPs we had a small wait. I was nervous about Dumbo because of the height. But when we finally had a turn, it wasn't so bad. I even rode most of the trip at the max height! After Dumbo we rode the tea cups. I was not impressed at all. Then Zac wanted to ride the Speedway so we did that. I am a terrible driver. And the exhaust smell was horrible. I wouldn't ride again but Zac enjoyed it.
