Brent and Liz's Valentine's day/Anniversary TR: Slippers, Satchels, Special Cinderellas, Surprises, Friends...and Ducks? - UPDATED 3/24 COMPLETE! - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Liz- your comments were wonderful, I love the psych nurse comment. You are just so patient with your Prince Brent, I don't know how'd I'd do with princess stalking, lol. I do love that Mulan, she is the one who signed my petition oh so long ago! On a first name basis with Cinderella, lol. I'm glad that you started feeling better. Your description of Brent at home versus Brent on vacation makes me laugh.
About moving. . .right now the State Police communications are moving from 22 communications center to 4 centers by July. . .I know there will be so legal maneuvering but, It seems like a good time to just move, we'd bring My Mom and Pat's Dad with us (not living with us, but in the area). They actually have some work at home nursing jobs that I could probably do from home, as I have case management experience and occ health, and Orlando Police Department is hiring dispatchers right now for Pat, so everything is up in the air and we'll see, but I've been looking at places down there.
Anyway, please regale us with more tales of Brenterella.

What a truly great day from start to finish! Love all the character interactions this day and terrific pictures of each! I can't help but smile every time you run into the Cinderella who calls you all by name! That is Disney at its very best! The jerseys were a great touch, Liz!

Tuesday Feb 7 Breakfast at Cape May, Dinner at 1900 Park Faire with a Special Cinderella.
We awoke this morning in no real hurry. Due to the length of our stay and the fact that you can only buy 10 day park tickets, this was to be our day without attending a park. Breakfast would be at Cape May. I must say I thought this day would be short enough to maybe do two days in the same update but after collecting my thoughts and reviewing my notes, I realized a lot of stuff happened today, so it looks like it’s one day per update. We got there and Donald was first. He came up to Liz:
Then he stopped and gave me the “I got my eyes on you” gesture after pointing to my Cinderella filled shirt. Hmmm, Then I said something about where’s Mickey and he gave me a raspberry. I asked him another question and he gave me a raspberry again! I then told him I wish he would quit doing that and guess what he did then? That’s right Bbbbbbbbbbb! Another raspberry.:
I didn’t even know he did this til I looked at the pictures later:
Then Minnie came up and gave my Cinderella filled shirt a double take and looked at me like “Why am I not on a shirt, Mr. Key!” Sighh . . .
Goofy was next:
Then we went back Apartment hunting. After all it is in our plans once we get the kids grown and owe less on our house than what it’s worth to move down here. Liz can transfer her job and I can certainly get a job making sure noone gets out of line around my beloved Cinderella can’t I? Errrrr I mean, “drive the Disney bus” right Liz honey? We visited Legends Apartments. It’s in the Lake Nona area, just east of MCO. Our thought was it is closer to where Liz would be working, and most of the tourists would be between MCO airport and Disney, correct? This is on the other side of the airport. We were impressed with the place. Nice pool, fitness center, and good location. Had a little shopping plaza right in front where you could get most anything you needed. We will definitely keep this one in mind for later. Liz took a picture:
Anyone else have any suggestions where else we should look on our next trip?
Then it was back to Pop where I took some pictures of the construction on the new Art of Animation resort under construction. I think it’s looking pretty good!
How bout some before and after pictures. These were taken in 08, I believe:
Quite a difference huh? They were putting up the signs when we were there. Then we got cleaned up and ready to have dinner at 1900 Park Faire where we thought we stood a fair chance of seeing our Special Cinderella.
We were not disappointed! We were ushered right in to kind of secluded table near the buffet where the two rooms meet, and our Cinderella came up promptly greeted us by name! Hugs were exchanged and soon the Prince, Step mother and step sisters all came by to see us. It was a late dinner and the place had emptied out a great deal so they all came by several times. Cinderella herself kept coming back so often it was like we were having dinner with her. They all took the time to look through most all of the pictures in our photo book. They all of course looked at my magic slippers and made lots of comments. Here are some pictures of our wonderful dinner:
We had all of them sign our wall hanging, and Cinderella signed it Cinderella ‘heart’ Brent. I blushed. She asked us where we were from, I replied “Michigan, where we have lots of Chimney’s that need to be cleaned. You would like it there!”. She told us seeing us made her day yesterday and we made her smile that much bigger. Then, the highlight of the evening. Cinderella and the prince came out for their waltz, as they do once a seating in this dinner, and Cinderella left her Charming and came running my way and said “Prince Brent, may I have this dance.” That was quite a moment. I, of course, said yes, and we danced. I was in heaven. I must say while I was dancing with her, I kept thinking how lucky of a man I was. Cinderella came and asked ME to dance, while my lovely wife was rooting me on and taking pictures. Dancing with Cinderella and realizing how lucky I was to have such a wonderful wife, who I managed to find and marry with the help of Cinderella was just too overwhelming and I teared up a bit. Here are pictures:
I twirled her and kissed her gloved hand, then she thanked me, smiled and said she should go dance with her Prince. They danced then left the floor, but as Cinderella was leaving she blew me a kiss and gave us a big smile. Then we made our way back to our room on a new High. This truly was shaping up to be the best vacation yet.
Tomorrow:
We meet our Fabulous friends at the Studios for lunch at 50’s prime, and later the satchels, slippers and ducks part of our title start to make sense. Foreshadowing: What do you think Princess Aurora is laughing about? Satchels Slippers, or ducks?

What a fabulous dinner at 1900 Park Fare! It's really how the characters all remember you guys by name. I'm sure you all made the other guests jealous having them all gathered at your table that night. I know I would have been glancing over wondering what kind of VIP was over there Awesome pictures!
Great photos and fabulous storytelling, Brentt! Thanks for the "before" and "after" shots. And how wonderful that your Cinderella showed you so much attention and danced with you!
Cannot WAIT to hear about the two beautiful princesses you get to meet TOMORROW.
Wow! Another great dinner at 1900 Park Fare! I love those step sisters!
You guys sound just like DH and I...I can get a job pretty much anywhere and Scott wants to drive the boats between resorts and parks. Last trip there was a new ( read young) boat captain earning his ears. he was having lots of trouble getting close enough to the dock without slamming into it. Then we had a not so nice boat captain take us from MK to the GF. That is when DH started saying, " I could do that!". Lol
People think we are joking but really we are dying to leave Louisiana and hope to make it there one day!
