Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

He suggested not to get that done until I was for sure about having no more kids, the pregnancy can mess with your vision. I believe this to be true as 2 of my friends had the surgeries, then both had kids a few years later, and now both of their sight has gone back to the way it was before..............random right??

Holy moly -- now that's one souvenir we've never gotten!! Congratulations!!!!

Hope Cameron is feeling better. I am home today with Jacob, who mysteriously woke up with strep throat this morning. Ugh.

The rest of your day at Epcot sounds great. Sorry Cameron didn't like Illuminations, though. I can't believe you walked 11.4 miles -- though as big as Epcot is, I guess I shouldn't be that surprised!

First, for Cameron! Congrats on the priceless Disney souvenir! Great finish to your day! I think the viewing area near the Mexican margarita stand is one of the best for Illuminations.

Congrats on the Disney baby! Sounds like you packed in a full day even with a later start! I am glad Cameron finally took a nap for you so you didn't have to leave Epcot.

Thank you! We did have a pretty good day. It just takes a while to adjust to the new normal of traveling with a toddler. Of course you know all about that. I'm pretty sure Cameron remembers nothing of Living with the Land. He hasn't said a word about it. He won't stop talking about Nemo, Bruce, Choo-Choo, Minne and Cinderella so he's all good.

I've heard this too about Lasik. I think they say that you should wait at least 6 months after pregnancy to get it done and also wait until you are for sure done having kids. I do know, however, that the clinic Nate went to he gets free "tweaks" for 10 years. Not sure if he'd want to go through it again, but it's nice to know that if his vision changes at all he can go in and have it fixed for free.

It's probably the most expensive souvenir we've ever gotten. Of course no up front costs. Cameron is feeling better. He still has a bit of a cold, but nothing too terrible. I hope Jacob has a quick recovery. Strep is the worst.

Thanks! I did think our spot for Illuminations was pretty good. Of course give me a couple of margarita's and I'll think any viewing spot is pretty good.

Thank you! I was surprised by 11.4 miles, but then I remembered that Epcot is HUGE. I don't think I've totaled how many miles for the whole trip. I've seen the day by day breakdowns, but never totaled them up. I do know Epcot days have us walking the most.

Thank you! We did manage to get a lot done even with not getting to the park until after 11. And we have another day at Epcot so it wasn't that big of a deal that we didn't make it around the WS or to all the other stuff in the park.

Day 3 – Part 1 - Cameron’s First Haircut!

January 30th, 2012

Today we had an appointment for Cameron’s first haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop. The appointment wasn’t until 10:30, but I wanted to make sure we were in the park by 10 AM at the latest and with waiting for the buses and such I knew we had to leave by 9 AM so I set my alarm for 6:30 AM. I don’t think my in-laws were happy about having to get up that early on vacation, but they wanted to be there for Cameron’s haircut so they didn’t complain that much.

Nate and I got ready and then had to wake Cameron up. He was a bit crabby about this, but the second we mentioned he could take a tubby bath he was all smiles. Of course we had shipped the bath toys we bought in Epcot back to the room and they hadn’t arrived yet. Oh well, he still had fun in the bath. I, however, did not have fun. Kneeling by the tub reminded me that I did in fact slip and bang my knee the other day. Luckily, kneeling was the only time my knee bugged me the entire trip, but man did it HURT when I gave Mr. Man a bath!

We managed to leave the room by 9:15 AM and had good luck with a bus arriving shortly thereafter. We made it to Magic Kingdom by 10 AM and got our locker and such. Then we had talked about going back to the front to have our picture taken by a PhotoPass photographer. I went to change Cameron’s diaper and then half of our group was gone! I finally spotted them taking pictures of the castle. I sent Nate to go get them so we could sneak in our entrance pictures before Cameron’s haircut. And Nate stood there talking to them for FOREVER and started taking pictures himself. This kind of bugged me and I think I may have yelled at Nate a little telling him that if he wanted the pictures done now that we needed to get going so that we could make it back in time to check in for Cameron’s haircut. We managed to get our pictures taken:

Then it was time to check in for Cameron’s haircut. We had a bit of a wait, but I think it was good as Cameron got to watch a few other little boys get their haircut so he knew what was going to happen. We took some before pictures:

He probably should have had his haircut a while ago, but I wanted him to have his first real haircut at the Magic Kingdom. I guess it doesn’t really matter as his hair is now fixed and strangers have stopped referring to him as a she. I am glad I waited for him to get his haircut here. They were great! First the woman cutting his hair loaded him up with stickers:

Then it was time to get down to business:

He was pretty good throughout the whole haircut. He did get a little squirmy halfway through so the lady gave him a Lightening McQueen toy. Which he actually really enjoyed. Contrary to what this picture may have you believe:

I’ll admit I teared up a bit while he was getting his locks chopped off. He ended up looking like such a little boy. He was definitely no longer my baby! He got his ears and his little certificate:

“What do you think Cameron?”

“Hummm…”

After his haircut we made our way over to Fantasyland. On the way we stopped for more PhotoPass pictures:

When we got to Fantasyland I checked the Lines app and saw that Winnie the Pooh only had a 10 minute wait so we headed to Peter Pan and grabbed FastPasses and were then going to head over to ride Pooh. Well when we got to Pooh it had a 25 minute wait. I checked the app again and it still said 10 min! I tried using this app a few other times as well and it was wrong just about every time. I took a few pictures of the Fantasyland construction but only one turned out:

We checked out It’s a Small World and that too had a 20 minute wait so we passed for now and headed to the Tea Cups. Jean and Jim decided to sit this one out so Nate, Breanna and I took Cameron for his first spin in a giant tea cup. We weren’t sure if we should spin it all that much as we weren’t sure if Cam could handle it. Cameron seemed a little bored so we increased the spin. I’m not sure how Breanna felt about this:

Cameron and I on the other hand had a great time:

Breanna must have changed her mind somewhere along the lines:

Up next we took a spin on the Carousal:

Cameron just loves those and didn’t want to get off. We managed to distract him with the sword in the stone:

We stopped to see PhillarMagic. Nate wasn’t so sure if Cameron would like this show and he thought it might be a little too long for him. I knew he liked Donald so I thought we should give it a try. He wouldn’t keep the 3-D glasses on, but he sat through the whole show and seemed happy.

After that we used our Peter Pan FastPasses. Nate insists we went on this ride on our Honeymoon, but even after riding it I don’t think we did. Cameron seemed to like flying. He doesn’t know Peter Pan, but he likes pirates and said “Yo-Ho” a few times during the flight.

Our tummies were grumbling by this point so we stopped at Pinocchio Village Haus for lunch. It was decent food and did the trick as everyone seemed to have a burst of energy after lunch. We headed over to grab FastPasses for Space Mountain as that was the ONLY thing Breanna really cared about doing today. On our way to Tomorrowland we managed to catch a bit of the Dream Along with Mickey show. After grabbing the FastPasses we headed on over to Adventure land to check in on some Tiki Birds.
