Forums Closed
|
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: The \"Twisted Arm, Broken Toe, US & WDW TR 8/1-8/14\" - THREAD 2 - VIDEO Update 11/7
Thanks for the wonderful comments everyone!! I would sooooo love to be an animator, but I don't think Disney would appreciate my need to have an instructor to get my job done!
As for my electrified photo, I don't know what possessed me to do that! On second thought, yes I do...it was Dad's Electric Lemonade!! I normally wouldn't do that. Okay...who am I kidding.....yes, I would. I guess this is one example of why Ryan has taken to calling me "Auntie Weirdo" instead of "Ahny" (his first attempt at saying Auntie when he was a tot)
Anyway.....on with the show!

Yet again, I had to edit my video to fit within the 100MB limitation on YouTube. I was only 3MB over too! The syncing of the video isn’t the same as the original – I had to take out my Star Wars music – but the content is basically the same. :sigh: Rock on!

He had been once before with my sister & my mom, but he said he didn't remember much. My mom has told me that my sister was super critical of everything he did. I think he got more out of our laid back approach. :sigh:
On with the show.....

Day 10 - Thursday, August 10, 2006 – part 1
Now playing: Happy 43rd Anniversary, Mom & Dad!!!
We woke up this morning to news about the UK terror plot being uncovered, but we didn’t let it get us down. We had an anniversary to celebrate tonight!!
Ryan arrived at his usual 7:45am (for the last time ) Jeffrey was up & ready to go. He and Ryan headed to the Animal Kingdom, while Kyle & I hung out at the resort. It was nice to have some one-on-one time with him. I think we may have gone to the Pepper Market for brunch, but I’m not sure – it’s not in my notes.
Jeffrey & Ryan were back around 1:30pm. They had quite the time. They rode EE 4 times and got a free 5x7 ride photo due to my playing the Yeti game at home to earn them a free certificate. They also rode Dinosaur!, It’s Tough to Be a Bug and Kali River Rapids (or as Jeffrey calls it….Calamari Rapids!! )
Photos from their day:
Not that great of a photo. My scanner is on the fritz so I took a photo of the photo.
I managed to get the boys to take a nap for an hour, then it was time to get ready for the surprise Anniversary Celebration! (They knew we were going out, but just didn’t know where. They were instructed to wear their shirts & meet us in the lobby of Coronado at 3:15pm) We changed into our shirts and went off to meet my parents in the lobby. I only wish I had my camera ready & was close enough to capture their faces as we all came into view with our matching shirts. My mom still says this is one of her favorite memories of the night.
We took a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then the boat to Fort Wilderness. We were super early so we killed some time in the gift shop. My mom & I played a game of checkers and then we headed over to Pioneer Hall for the Hoop Dee Doo. I revealed where we were going as we were walking over there. They received lots of congratulatory wishes and compliments on the shirts! You could tell it really helped to make their night and it certainly helped make mine! ( Insert proud moment here. The photographer said they were the best she had ever seen! ) She photographed us as a group and then she photographed my parents alone. Of course, we had to purchase both packages.
Again, I had to take a photo of the photos.
The placement of Kyle's legs in this photo make me look deformed
It was a great show. My parents loved all of the attention that they received. (Sorry about the glare….I couldn’t escape that light)
They danced to “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” My mom’s face says it all. She was so happy!
and my dad surprisingly got into playing the washboard. The photos crack me up!
hee hee
He only wished he was a bit more quick when he was asked the secret to so many years of marriage. He answered, “Keep your mouth shut,” but afterwards wished he had said, “It was an arranged marriage.” Oh well, it was funny anyway. We had a great time. I do wonder about the future of the Hoop Dee Doo though. I know there was a thread regarding a rumor that this show may be closing before I left for vacation (back in July sometime). This was the first time I have been to the Hoop Dee Doo where it hasn’t been a complete sell out. Most of the upper level was empty. I also heard that they no longer offer the 9:00pm show, but I can’t confirm that. Hmmm…
Anyway, hearts happy & bellies full, we made our way back to the dock. I made a quick stop into the gift shop to purchase a Happiest Celebration on Earth photo album. I noticed it was on sale for $16 (from $25) prior to the show, so I went in to make the quick purchase. I met up with the rest of the group at the dock. People were still congratulating my parents. I felt very happy for them. We also struck up conversation with a family. The dad was picked to play the angel in the show & they had forgotten the camera. I somehow managed to get a photo of the finale and offered to send it to them via e-mail. (I sent it soon after we got home, but I never heard back from them. Hope they got it okay)
We took the boat back to the Magic Kingdom. Mom wanted to ride the monorail, saying she’d never be back here again. Dad decided he wanted to go back to Coronado & wait for us there. :sigh: The 5 of us headed over to the station & were lucky enough to sit up front with Gary, who had only been out of training 2 weeks. Mom & Ryan had never done this so it was extra special for them. Jeffrey graciously sat in the first car so I could take photos of our crew. Gary told us a lot about his job and working for Disney. He really seemed to love his job, but I don’t know how long he’ll like the hours ~ 3:45pm – 2:00am
We completed our loop, thanked Gary for the ride and then headed back to Coronado. We showed Mom where the lawnmower incident occurred. Then she came with us to our room to check it out and to get the last of Ryan’s belongings there. Jeffrey, Kyle & I changed our shirts, as we were headed for EMH at Epcot. We all made the trek over to the lobby to meet Dad and then we said our good-byes until the 14th.
Coronado at night was stunningly beautiful.
With one less park touring member , the three of us ventured over to Epcot for EMH. Our feelings were conflicted. We were happy to still be in WDW, but sad to be without Ryan.
Up Next: EMH @ Epcot

What a great way to celebrate your parents anniversary! I the way the t-shirts turned out and it looks like your parents really enjoyed themselves. Its that Ryan had to leave, but he took some wonderful memories with him!
