As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Thanks for the shots of EE - - you know that I am still working up my nerve for it! One day!
I'm with you sister on the 5 resorts sharing one bus - - that is so frustrating at the end of a long day!

Re: Eighteen Again! - Pre-trip
Love your AK night pictures! We didn't do EMH there, so I've never been in the dark. Great shots of Expedition Everest - I can't wait for our next trip so I can ride.

Sounds like a great day. Yes, you can do extra magic hours if you are at the Swan/Dolphin but I guess there are so many convention people there that they can't be out too late. Can't wait for more!

Great report so far, Sharon. I was at Dennis Rodman. While I was at Epcot I heard someone on their phone saying they were eating at the same restaurant at Dennis Rodman earlier in the day. Guess they weren't kidding! Your room is beautiful.

Re: Eighteen Again! - Pre-trip
Thanks for the update Sharon! We went to Typhoon Lagoon last year for the first time. I prefere the wave pool at Blizzard Beach. At least you can enjoy yourself in it without getting thrown into other people. I didn't realize there was a rock to sit on though so I'll have to look for it on our trip this September. I know we'll be going back cause DH who is a scuba diver just loves the wave pool. He goes all the way back by the wall! Looking forward to your next update!!

Re: Eighteen Again! - Pre-trip
Sharon - Just getting caught up on your trip report. As usual your photos are amazing. Love your self portrait! The Pina Colada looks great! I think I'll try one in October when I'm at WDW. Dennis Rodman is hard to miss. I used to work near where the Bull's work out in Chicago and we'd sometimes see him driving around. You couldn't miss him. Looking forward to more.

The World’s Youngest Pervert
We didn’t have anything planned for the morning, so we slept in. I was still up pretty early and after I was ready, Erica was still asleep, so I decided to have a look around the resort. I took a bunch of photos. I love getting up early to walk around the resort since there’s very little activity and it’s easy to get pictures without people in them.
First, I used the last of the pictures in the waterproof camera while sitting out on the balcony.
Then I headed out, armed with my regular camera.
The nerve of those people, walking into my shot!
Our room was the one on the top floor in the center, above the awning
Stormalong Bay was still closed, so I got some pictures of it with no one around.
When I got back to the room, Erica was just waking up. She got ready while I watched the Top 7 Countdown. We were ready for some shopping, so we got the car and headed to the Orlando Premium Outlets. We checked out a lot of the stores but Erica didn’t buy anything and I only bought an ornament from the Disney outlet store. Erica had breakfast in the food court, but I was saving myself for Earl’s.
After the outlets, we headed to Downtown Disney. Here, I did a lot more damage. I bought a bunch of stuff in World of Disney, but Erica couldn’t decide what she wanted. It was between the ’06 backpack and the giant yellow Mickey Mouse slippers. She decided to wait and get something later. We checked out the new Pirates room, which Erica loved. She had to pose with the prisoners …
We also stopped in Basin and got some bath bombs and looked in Once Upon a Toy for the Woody & Zurg toys I promised my nephews. I wanted something to eat, so we headed over to Earl’s. I couldn’t believe how crowded it was! There had to be 25 people on line, and I wouldn’t even say DTD was crowded that day! Erica didn’t feel like waiting, so I decided to get something to eat when we got to MGM.
We went to Goofy’s Candy Co. next (which, now that I think about it is a terrible place to go when you’re hungry). This has become a must do for me, and I knew Erica would love it too. We spent a lot of time looking at everything and Erica made her own dipped Mickey rice krispy treat with lots of toppings. I bought some candy for myself and some for the folks at work. Erica also made a Minnie Mouse cup.
I had a quick look in the Christmas store, but didn’t buy anything in there. I noticed Andy’s room in one of the windows, so I had to get a picture for my nephews, who are both huge TS fans.
Then we drove over to MGM. I have to say, Erica was really enjoying calling the shots on this trip and we hit every one of her favorite rides, parades, and shows! It so happens that most of her favorites are at MGM, so I’ll be saying “This is one of Erica’s favorites” a lot.
We arrived at the park just in time to see one of Erica’s favorites, Beauty & the Beast. She got us seats while I grabbed us a couple of FPs for TOT for after the show. I also got us some popcorn and sodas to enjoy with the show. I got to the theater in time to catch the preshow.
Erica loves Four for a Dollar, and thought she might buy a CD when we got out of the show. We both love the movie B&TB, so it’s only natural that we love the show too. Erica was watching it with a look of total bliss on her face. I tried to get a picture of her without it being too obvious, but I couldn’t pull it off. This was the best I could do.
Once B&TB was over, our FP window had opened for TOT, so we headed there. I walked over and got us FPs for RNRC even though the return time was during our dinner ADR.
You all should know that TOT is my favorite, but it’s also one of Erica’s favorites, too. Those of you who’ve read my reports before know how much of a TOT geek I am so you won’t be surprised to know I have a favorite TOT bellhop. I could see we were going to get him (Joshua), so I told Erica he was good and he didn’t disappoint. So creepy! I snapped a picture of him, and he made a super creepy face, which cracked Erica up!
Joshua, my favorite Bellhop!
We had a fun drop sequence, and I even managed to get a pretty good picture of the view from the top of the Tower.
Erica and I continued our game of silly poses for the ride photos.
I was pretending to be asleep, but it’s a little hard to see me on the end
The standby line had been really short when we used our FPs, so we decided to go through again. Erica was really hoping we’d get Joshua again, but they must have rotated as we didn’t see him at all.
Next up was another of Erica’s favorites, VOLM. Erica shares my quirky sense of humor, so I told her about the wacky Ariel with the weird O shaped mouth I had the last time I’d seen this, and of course she was dying to see that, but we got a normal Ariel.
Then we headed over to see the Muppets, another one of Erica’s favorites. I know a lot of people say this needs to be updated, but I still enjoy it. Personally, I’d rather see a new film at HISTA.
We still had a bit of time before the Passporter meet, so we decided to take naps … err, I mean, catch Sounds Dangerous. It’s not the worst attraction that I’ve ever seen, but I think Disney could close this show and most people wouldn’t even notice it’s gone. I really think something better needs to go in this spot, but Erica and I enjoyed our little catnap!
After SD, we headed over to the hat and met up with all the Passporters who were already there. There were 13 of us in all, which I’m not saying anything further about. I never did manage to get a picture of us, if you can believe that. Anyway, the 13 of us (), headed in and the line was pretty long.
While we were waiting, Erica and I were at the end of the line and there was a family behind us with a little boy who looked about 3 years old. He pointed at my chest and I heard him say “Look mama, booby.” In a completely bored tone, his mother says “Yes, Goofy.” Duh! I had a Goofy t-shirt on! From this I learned two things. 1 – Seeing Disney characters on t-shirts is only exciting if you are 3 years old, and 2 – I really need to brush up on my baby talk!
Anyway, the 13 of us loaded up into the car, and then headed off for our trip through the movies. As you all know by now, the ride was broken and we (the PPers on board) were the only ones who’d figured it out. I guess everyone else just thought it was a really boring ride. When we got to the cowboy scene (and we had the cowboy scene, darnit, which I like better), of course there was no way the CM could do it without the animatronics working, so he announced the ride was broken, which made all us PPers laugh.
We ended up having to walk off the ride. After that, it was nearing the time for our ADR at Cape May Café and the other PPers were headed to Beaches & Cream, so we all headed for the boat to Y&BC.
Up Next: My Favorite Ride Photo Pose!

Re: Eighteen Again! - Pre-trip
Sharon, I really enjoyed reading and viewing your report so far. We didn't get to watch a parade during our visit last month (we were there at the same time), and now I'm making sure it's on our list for next time! I love your fun, relaxed narrative style, and the tons of pics are great for a newbie like me.
