Dreaming of a Disney spring break - part three COMPLETED - Page 59 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I love Morocco, but wasn't fond of Marrakesh when I tried it. I would go back again though, to try it. I really like the idea of that type of character meal, it would be a lot of fun!! They'd lose Jasmine at Akershus, but oh what a gain it would be to have Genie and Jafar!! Write an email in your persuasive way and see what happens!!
Can't wait to hear about a new way to see France's movie!

I guess people are afraid the food will be too exotic, but it's really not. The servers are always so nice and will give an explanation of some of the decor and Moroccan traditions if asked.
I know and I think that's perhaps the saddest thing, that any fears about the food being too exotic are just misplaced...

Great update! I am curious about you next update to come. I have to know where is Mouse Memories? I would love to find some more Disney Scrapbooking supplies!
We just use the directions on their website - they're very good. If you scroll down past the opening hours, you'll find the directions.
Everyone must have opted to go to the waterparks that day instead of Epcot, just to annoy the woman you saw/heard at breakfast!! Wouldn't THAT have been a hoot!
I never thought of that - that's classic and would be so funny if that's what happened!

Looking forward to hearing about the story that goes with the picture of you and Eeyore.
It's a good one and worth the wait - I reckon sometime this week you'll get the full story...
WOW!! I just got caught up on your trip report and I have two words: LOVE IT!!!
I love how you rate each of your restaurant experiences and at the end of each day you give a synopsis/review of best worst etc. Such a great thing to add to a TR! I also love all of your pictures. It really feels as though I am there with you btwn the pictures and your writings!
After looking over your pictures of Tokoyo Dining, I had my daughter look over the menu there. We have ADR's for Teppan Edo, but now we are not so sure.
We also love Marrakesh and think it is a hidden treasure. We would be going back there this trip if it was not for the want to try new restaurants at Epcot and we don't have a PH. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the idea of an Aladdin character dinner. It's genius and I wonder why Disney has not thought of that. I definitely think you should write a letter with the suggestion. Plus, it would give a character meal that was not just geared toward princesses for little boys (well girls would love it too, but you know what I mean, right?).
OH, as for that little boy...YIKES! I'm surprised that did not tie for your worst experience for the day that day. It amazes me how parents are not teaching there children how to behave these days! We also have the rule that everyone sits at the table until you are excused and manners are important not just at restaurants but at home too!
Thanks for having such and entertaining TR. I look forward to reading more!
Thank you for the kind words!
I won't take all the credit for the review of the best and worst bits of each day, as that credit needs to go from Jennifer and Dave. I got it from them, if I'm remembering right, from the PassPockets in the PassPorter? I thought it was such a great idea, I stole it!
Last but not least - it makes me absolutely laugh that you are so unabashed about admitting you park at BC to go to EPCOT for a few hours. We do that too, when we drive. It's just easier.
And I really REALLY need to stop reading TR's before I eat...
Glad we're not the only ones that do that!
Hope you've found some good food to enjoy, now that I've whetted your appetite...
Lunch at Marrakesh looked good. It's one of those restaurants that I really have to try! And I the idea of an Aladdin character meal. If that happened, I think it would become a coveted meal for sure!
I'm getting caught back up again. I am so glad you posted about LaNouba as we are suppose to go to it during our agent education program. I have to ask. Do they allow pictures at all (I know if they do it would be with out flash). I am such a picture taker and would love to get some shots, but I have a feeling they don't allow it. If they don't can you at least have your camera with you? I know after and before I will be taking pictures.
I also think that Mark has a very great idea for a character Meal. If one of the Restaurants are having troubles, this would be great to get people in and to try something new. The park has a totally different look with less people in it. We are there the last week of September. we always get in Epcot early in the mornings and enjoy the quite atmosphere it has to offer. Thanks for the Score from Marrakesh.
I'm desperately trying to remember the number - I want to say it ended in 6?
Ours was 6206, so I suspect we had the exact same room. I was judging by your photos from the balcony as we had the minor obstructions from the roof overhangs, too.
Well it took me a bit but I am finally caught up on your posts while I was gone. So where to start, Japan, your dinner looked delicious, Japan is one of the pavillions we have yet to eat in and I really need to get it on the list, my fear used to be the allergy issues but I have heard wonderful things at how accomodating they are so I think we need to get there hopefully on one of our next trips. Loved the night shots from the WS - I love strolling there on EMH nights as it gets so empty and it is so peaceful. Test Track at night is one of our favorites - we love this ride but at night it is exceptionally fun.
So glad that you did not turn and leave Sea World and that you were able to bypass the lines and get to see the show. The pictures are great and it sounds to be one amazing show.
Glad you had a great lunch at Fulton's except for the "kid", we saw a few of those this trip which is always normal but there was one on the bus, he turned and hit his father and my face dropped, the mother was quietly telling him stop now you are going to have a 5 minute time out....me, this kid needed much more than a 5 minute time out. Then he started running on the bus away from his dad....
I love Mark's idea about a character meal at Marrakesh, I do notice a lot of people's photos and it does look pretty empty which is sad, we love that pavillion, it is one of our favorite.
I guess the complaining Brit might have made a better choice by going to Epcot this day (can't believe how quite it looks in your photos), but then you might have had to listen to her more. As Stefanie tells folks, Disney has lines, but it's Disney. You'd love where we live as we have cows for neighbors. Luke laughs because I swear they stare at me funny when I walk down the country road by our subdivision. I might have to consider Marrakesh for lunch sometime. We had an early dinner here several years ago, but missed the belly dancer, though we saw some musicians. I felt the meal was one of the best for me that trip, but neither Luke nor Stefanie were impressed, hence we've not been back. Now if Mark's idea of character dinner happened, they'd both want to go.

You can have your camera with you, but absolutely no photos whatsoever in the theatre at all, even before the performance starts....
