We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler Trip, PTR - Page 55 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad that you had the chance to pick up all the last few things you will need for the trip. Sorry Skyler is having a hard time right now with the speech therapy, it is a slow process but I am sure things will get easier for him real soon.

Thanks so much Meg. AsI got us 1/2 packed today while my woderful DMil played with Skyler, before I was running out of energy, havenow realized I need another trip to Target or Walmart. Luckily laubdry is getting done and only the clothes are left to go in the suitcase besides my few last minute items that will take me all of 5 minutes to add our Departure Day. I'm going to try finish packing tomorrow, if not a little bit over the next few days since extra hands will be around too. Thanks. I hope Speech Therapy gets easier for Skyler. He is stubborn at home too with telling me "I want" and "More".
Guess the bug is spreading through the computer Hope you guys are feeling better. Men sometimes don't understand what it feels like sick taking care of a little one (usually becuase when they are sick, we take care of the little ones) Hang in there with Skyler, please believe me when I tell you this time last year Christian was using one word comands and now people can actually understand him. It will alll be worth it in the end. It made me so happy at Ava's Birthday party today that all of our family members were saying "he is speaking so much better now we can actually understand what he is saying" It made me so happy! Just be patient and stand up for what you want for your son and he will get there in his own time. (don't let them rush you) Well cant wait to see ya not much longer now. Glad you got everything for the camera. Wanted to get a new one before we left but the bday was too much....

Thanks so much Stephanie. Thursday,
all I wanted was someone to come home
home early or something and give me a hand with Skyler so I could sleep. Besides feeling
sick, I just couldn't keep my eyes open, and
the sleep I needed helped me feel better. I
could certainly understand staying up with
Skyler the night before as Erick had to work
Thursday, and I never expected to feel ill
when I woke up. I so agree with you. Usually
when Erick is sick(and that is rare too) I'm
taking care of him & Skyler too. I can
certainly say I was longing for my mom and
missed those days of my mom taking care of
me when I was sick. I'm glad to hear your
family had noticed the difference in Christian.
Skyler is still doing one word commands. He
was better after a nap yesterday and most of
today either saying or signing "I want" &
"more". I know he'll get it on his own, but you can tell how bad he wants to say things and how frusterated he gets trying to say them. We can't wait to see you soon too. I
hope Ava had a wonderful Birthday Party.
BTW, I don't know how many people in
WDW you'll see with a Lime Green Stroller,
but, Skyler's stroller is lime green(I know,
poor little guy, but I love lime green). I'm sorry to hear you weren't able to get your new camera before the trip. Birthday parties and Disney can be quite expensive and add up quickly. Not much longer.!

Keep it up with the signing and stick to your guns, who cares what anyone else thinks, Consistency is what helps with the therapy. You know two steps forward one stop back, but if you arent consistent it ends up being 1 step forward and two steps back so to speak. Hang in there with getting it all done, you'll be relaxing in Disney soon. I love lime green too, but Pink is my fave color.

Thanks so much Cassie. Today he is having a great day with signing and saying "I want" to both DH & I for everything. He's even getting better at saying and or signing it for DMil. We are consistant with it at home, however I think he wants to be stubborn foe his speech therapist. Thanks. I can't believe I will be relaxing in Disney soon. Pink is one of my favorite colors too, but Lime Green is the color of Kermit the Frog. Also when we bought Skyler's stroller it was the last one in the store and the floor model, which didn't bother me the least. My DH would kill me if I had a pink stroller for our little boy.
Good luck with the rest of your packing......No worries....Skyler will get it, is just takes time!! And you are doin a great job with him!
Thank you so much. Some more packing done. Thank you. Skyler is actually having a great day and happy he's saying "I want" to everythin to both my DH and I, and is making me so happy for saying it. I think he just has his days, some better than others. Thank you. It's hard being a parent sometimes, especially when you hit a few bumps in the road. We are helping him overcome those bumps.
After calling today to makesure our ADRs were all straight and confirmed, and our room request, we are also all checked in(and mom's name is in the notes to be added to the room when we arrive). I withdrew the rest of the money I need to bring with, aldo stoppe at Target & Walmart to purchase more last minute essentials, including a new windbreaker for myself, to eliminate the need for multiple sweatshirts since I think the weather wil be mild enough at night to only need a windbreaker at the heaviest, since the one I planned on bringing, the zipper broke and melted. Erick is going to print out our boarding passes for us at work(for the life of me, we can't get DMil & DFil's printer software onto our new computer) Thursday after I check us in at the 24 hour mark since JetBlue doesn't give you an assigned seat until you check in. DMil & I still have yet to find Sports Glide and Child Size Earplanes for Skyler.
After today's Bears game, I guess although we'll be in DHS during the Bears vs. packers game, I have to admit I will be curious to find out which one of us goes 2-1 and who will remain 3-0. Today they had a great Game(and the Cutler Bashing has come to a halt for now). I didn't even know they were televising the game by us today, so I was happy when Erick told me we didn't have to go anywhere today to watch it, and stay in the comfort of our own home. Tomorrow some packing will get done around the Saints game. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. It is almost time to head to Florida!
I was so excited that the Bears beat the Cowboys today! Cutler is from a little town in Indiana not too far from where we live here in northern Kentucky!

Cam, I was so excited they beat the Cowboys today too. Such a shock, except for Erick had players from both teams on his Fantasy
Football Team. I'm sorry to hear your fave
team lost today. How cool that Jay Cutler is from a part of Indy that isn't too far from where you live. Hejustdidn't impress me that much last season, but from what I saw of him against the Cowboys, much improved.
I have the Bears defense on my Fantasy Team so I was glad to see them win today too! Feel better and good luck finishing the packing! Geaux Saints!
Heather, you and Erick both! He has the Bears defense as well as Arizona's for his Fantasy Football team, although he played Arizona's today. Thank you. We're 100% better now. I hope the Saints win! I know my family finds it hard to believe I'm a Saints Fan too, but they certainly have gained my respect. I know the Saints Jerseys will come
out for the game and will be worn. Sadly
Erick has to work and miss the game, but it
will be recorded just for him. Thank you the
packing shall be done very soon! I swear
I'm so excited I feel like Tigger (Bouncy,
Bouncy, Fun, Fun, Fun,Fun). I know, not much longer to go, but then oncethe fun is over, back to the every day grind, and Skyler has Speech Therapy the day after we get home). Geaux Saints! I know it will be busy by you tomorroe in New Orleans.
