As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears

Moving on with the current of the years.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Soon, it was time for Fantasmic! and we headed to the front of the area to enjoy it. Best of all, there was a railing there that I could prop the camera up on, so I was able to get some great shots and really you can’t tell that those were taken from the back of the amphitheatre. This show was a lot better than I remembered. A lot of we were saying that we just don’t usually get to see it, as either we’re not big fans of it (me included in that group) or for those who are, they don’t like to have to deal with the crowds and this place was packed. It’s a shame so many of us feel like that, as it’s good and well worth seeing.
When it was done, they held us there for a few minutes before we were escorted back through the backstage area again. Oh boy, did we feel special that day and, as someone said, to do this and to have the lunch at the VIP pavilion earlier added up to one very special day.
When we got back into the main park, Wendy and I said goodbye to everyone. Sadly, there were some people who would be heading off tomorrow, who we wouldn’t see again. Sad to think that we were already at that stage of the vacation. Some people were off to ride things and some brave or foolish souls were off to the Magic Kingdom Extra Magic Hours, but not us. :
I wanted to do the quest in the morning at the Studios and there was no way that was going to happen unless we left now. We were amazed at how busy it was heading out of the park. There were just people everywhere. We stopped to get some photos on the way out.
Then it was time to head for the buses, along with everyone else. Some of the lines were horrible, but fortunately number 12, which was ours, wasn’t too bad and there was a bus waiting there. It became clear that we could get on it, but we were going to have to stand and we opted to wait for the next one, figuring that at park closing, we wouldn’t have to wait too long for one. We didn’t, we were only there about five minutes before another one arrived. We got seats and then one of the last people on the bus were Mary (MEM) and her DH Tom. It was good to finally meet them, especially as I had had to call them yesterday to tell them that Sabine and Manuel couldn’t meet them for dinner at Le Cellier.
We were back at the room in time to hear Wishes and I swear when you aren’t watching it, it’s even louder.
Today we walked 4.49 miles The weather today was hot and sunny with temperatures in the high 80s. The best thing today was the VIP lunch. The worst thing today was my darned insect bite. The funniest thing today was waiting for that darned monorail to come into shot for our photos! Today we tried the Fantasmic! dessert party And the result was it was very good with excellent views of Fantasmic! but my goodness, those desserts were rich. The most magical moment today was being able to present Jennifer and Dave with their digital photo frame.
Wow, that Fantasmic dessert party looks awesome! I would have loved all the chocolate. Hhhhhmmmm, CHOCOLATE!!! Love all your wonderful pictures, Cheryl!
WOW that was a long day but to have so many special things to happen, the lunch and the fantasmic dessert! That sounded like an amazing experience! Looks like a day full of fun and memories!
I would've eaten my weight in dessert though*L* I cant believe you dont like peanut butter...I guess i like it so much because peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches were my lunch for most of grade school*L*

peanut butter is an American thing, they just don't eat it over there! However, a little tip guys, if you find Chezp talking your ear off, give her a bit of pb to cement her mouth!
whereas, I LOVE peanut butter! Especially with chocolate! Yep, Reese Cups are amongst my favorite candies!
WOW!!!!!! Those were some really fantastic pictures you got at the dessert party. I need a couple of those for the scrapbooks I am making for the tornadoes. And you were right that VIP lunch and the dessert party were really special, it was also really nice getting let out were we did and the kids getting to ride TOT two or three times with Cindybelle, Skateycat, and SuperDave ( maybe a couple of other PP too)!

Oh me too! reese cups melted...yum yum yum....i used to dip hershey kisses in a jar of peanut butter when i was in college*L* The many uses of peanut butter but i never knew that its an american thing...interesting
