10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 52 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sorry that Paddlefish was a disappointment. Sounds like the server wasn't on top of his job.
It wasn't a complete disappointment as my glass of wine was good and my first course was exceptional! It was that my server brought out my main course far too early and he should have been paying attention as he was near my table several times and knew I was just beginning my appetizer. Definitely, not with it and he needs to pay attention to details, look at his tables and how far along they are in their courses and deliver them promptly. Between the server and kitchen, communication is needed and how things can operate well. It usually does for me. This guy needs some training! Then again there was the issue with my main course, which was overcooked and I'm sure because I sent it back and they reheated it.
I've dined here several times and the first time anything has been short of exceptional. A lot of your meal depends on your server and this was the case and seems anytime my meal has been off in some way it's been because of my server more than food quality or preparation. But tonight had a bit of both.

It does sound like sending your food back was the problem. That should never happen in a table restaurant anywhere. I will say that restaurant is just beautiful!! I absolutely love Disney at night and especially the Boardwalk area!!
Sorry about your meal, what a disappointment I would not expect to have the main meal brought out so soon and they really should know better. Paddlefish does look beautiful though.

Sorry your meal and service was disappointing at Paddlefish as I I know how much you used to enjoy Fulton's Crab House. My DH and I celebrated our first year anniversary in 1982 there when it was called "The Empress Lilly". It was so elegant back then and the service was top notch! I enjoyed all your pictures of the walk back to the Swan and Dolphin.
I agree they probably just kept your main course hot and it over cooked, they really should have given you a fresh main. The views from the deck of Paddlefish are lovely as are the shots of your hotel at night.

I think you're right about that. My server shouldn't have brought it out, while I was still having my appetizer. Some better coordination with the server and kitchen should always be done to avoid problems like this. The restaurant has been made over so well. WDW is quite the place at night. I've always enjoyed sitting outside at the Yacht Club after dinner there and enjoying the views of the Boardwalk and Stormalong Bay all lit up.

This should not have happened and what started out as a good experience, quickly changed! They've done a great job with the reimagination of the eatery.

All my other experiences when it was Fulton's were all good and couldn't have been any better. Just wish this one didn't turn out the way it did. Looks pretty amazing all lit up at night. There will be more of these later in the TR.

Probably true of what happened to my course. They certainly timed it wrong! They did a great job with Paddlefish and love the views from up there. Too bad it was raining as it would be a good place to go after dinner.

I am seriously excited to hang out on the Paddlefish roof. It looks lovely. I guess I'll put an overpriced cocktail or glass of win into my budget for that sake.
I love how you walked such a short ways and saved $8 on your drink
Smart to depart the bus at the Boardwalk. The walkup to the Swan is beautiful.

Too bad it wasn't nice out as the deck would be a lot of fun and may have gone for the pricey drink. I love walking on the Boardwalk at night and quite nice all lit up by the Swan/Dolphin. That's funny how big a difference in the drink price. But you're paying for the view.

The restaurant is quite nice. Too bad my overall experience wasn't a bit better. Very nice all lit up around Swan and Dolphin. There'll be others as my TR progresses.

Sunday, October 8th (Part VIII) This update is a bit short as my last one was running quite long and concludes my first day in Disney.
I returned to my room for a little while to get everything ready for tomorrow. It will be an Epcot day at the Food & Wine Festival, which I was looking forward to. While, I was up in my room, I checked the weather forecast on TV and it looked promising, even though it would quite hot and humid again. I also wrote up my trip notes for today and charged my phone.
After this I headed downstairs to check out the lobby a little more and visit Phins bar as well.
Front entrance to the Dolphin
Lobby in Dolphin
Lobby and Phins bar
I love the new chandelier
After a few photos in the lobby, I sat up at Phins Bar to check the new place out. It looks quite nice and welcoming. It was a bit busy tonight and more so than the lounges in the Disney resorts would be around 10:30 pm or so, but not too crowded. There will be more coverage of the lobby and Phins in my TR over my stay.
I looked over the specialty drinks menu and saw something I liked and went with it. Although, the drinks are quite expensive here.
Keys Margarita
It consists of Herradura Reposado Tequila, Combier, Orange Juice and Key Lime Juice. It was quite good and better be for $14. I enjoyed this for a while just watching various sports programs on the various TVs here.
While, I was enjoying my margarita the guy next to me ordered some crazy specialty drink. It’s called the Smoke N’ Roses. It’s Four Roses Bourbon with Maple Syrup, Cherry Juice and Lemon Juice. It’s delivered and presented to you in a smoke box. I could smell the smoke scent when it was opened. I said to the guy, “That is quite a show, but is it good?” He said it was. One of these come at the going rate of $19. Not sure if that’s worth it, but perhaps just to try it.
After finishing my margarita, I returned to my room for the night. I made sure I had everything ready for the morning. I watched some TV for a little while and then called it a night.
NEXT: Did I Make This One for Too Early?

We visited the lobby at The Dolphin last October and thought they did a great job with the remodel. Glad you enjoyed your drink at the bar. Sounds like quite a presentation of the drinks there!
