As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: TroianRae\'s Take on the MOA Passporter Meet Weekend
[b] <font color="blue"> Sunday, October 2nd (continued)
When we exited off 494 onto 169 South, it must have only been 10:30, if not 11:00. I'm not exact on the time, but I do know we were in Jordan by 11:30 am. We went through the BK drive-thru and got our lunch. We decided to go ahead and just park there and eat it since it was early. I think by the time we were done eating and just relaxing, it was almost noon. We were headed to the apple/pumpkin place that was just a few more miles down the road; I know that we were there before I even expected to be.
We pulled off into the parking lot with both kids freaking out over the amount of pumpkins they could see. BUT then they wanted to stay in the van!!! I wasn't too happy, but oh well. I went inside and decided to go down to the pumpkin area first and then I'd backtrack into the apples. There were pumpkins everywhere. Big ones, little ones, medium ones, although NO huge ones!! But hey, for $2.98 per pumpkin, it was cheaper than WalMart and they were nicer!!! I picked out a pumpkin - all by myself - only to see a family with the kids picking out their pumpkins. That was that!! I went back to the van and MADE everybody get out and come pick their own pumpkin. They couldn't make up their minds!!! OF COURSE!!! So we finally picked 1 BIG pumpkin and then went to the other end where the decorated pumpkins were and the kids each got to pick their own decorated pumpkin. At that point, everyone's happy and I'm exhausted!! I could have used a nap!! I sent the kids and DH to the van, and picked out some apple and some pumpkin pie fudge for my mom. I always like to bring my mom home something from that place. She's done so much for me and for my kids that I don't hesitate when it comes to her.
So we had our stuff and we were off. By this time, we'd been in and out of the car for what seemed like forever; then it happened. The DVD player just died.......again!! I had already taken the first one back after it just up and died out of nowhere, then this one I'd had all of 7 weeks, and only installed for 5. So as I'm driving, I'm getting and . I decided that was it, we stopped in Worthington, Minnesota to try and return it.
COMING UP: Damon and home!!!!!!!!!

Re: TroianRae\'s Take on the MOA Passporter Meet Weekend
[b] <font color="blue"> Sunday, October 2nd (still continued)
So we headed towards Worthington, MN because I know that WalMart SuperCenter really well (we used to drive there to get groceries before SF had a SuperCenter) and I figured my chances were better there than in Sioux Falls. We unhooked all the cords and packed everything up into the carrying case; I got out my receipt (I learned a LONG time ago to always carry those big item receipts in my wallet) and prepared to do battle!! Or so I thought!!
I had a relatively short wait in line (10 minutes) and then stepped up to a very polite associate (improvement already from Sioux Falls!! ). I explained about it just stopping and refusing to work; I explained that I had my receipt and that I'd only had it in the van for 5 weeks. I went through my whole thing. And she said sorry can't do anything, it has to be in original packaging!! Now how do you keep a DVD player for the van in its original bubble packaging and hope it will work! Um, hello??
I explained what the packaging looked like and how that would be an impossibility. She called a manager on the phone, and I heard her tell him that they couldn't do it. I could tell from her end of the conversation that it sounded like her talking him out of returning it. So she then tells me, they can exchange it. Jose!! I was NOT going to let that happen so I asked to talk to the manager. She sent me over to the CM stand and told me to talk to Damon. So I went. Found him, explained the whole thing, and I could see him leaning my way but he just couldn't budge completely because it was like $275 for a return. I finally told him how about a WalMart gift card?? I shop WalMart all the time (diapers/pullups, you know) and that way it would stay within WalMart. He agreed to that. Whoopee!!!!
This was awesome!! There was NO doubt in my mind that either of the SF stores would have been complete jerks (insert stronger word!) about it. I've dealt far too much with them, plus my DSis works in a SF PCA (a portrait studio that rents space from WalMart) so I'm VERY familiar with their tactics!! (Doesn't help that I called the Assistant Manager for Electronics a prick either! Well, he is!!)
So I walked out of the Worthington WalMart happy!! I don't think I've ever left a WalMart happy after an exchange/return. But on this day, I did!!
We continued on our way home and made it in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. We were home in plenty of time to see Desperate Housewives and Crossing Jordan. Whew, it was fun, but oh so glad to be home.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

Re: TroianRae\'s Take on the MOA Passporter Meet Weekend
Wrap-Up:
The weather was: Warmer than I had anticipated (60's or 70's, I believe)
The best thing about our journey was: meeting Passporters
The worst thing about our journey was: Troian's meltdowns
The funniest thing about our journey was: watching Benji and Troian tease Amy
During our journey we tried: to travel without a DVD system
The most magical moment during our journey was: Having supper at the Rainforest Cafe and getting some "adult" visiting time with Amy & Lisa
