Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Our Magical 10 nights / 11 days at the House of the Mouse! - New 5/20/05 pt 1 & pt 2

Pre-Trip report
We decided to take this trip before we even left for our May 2004 trip. We went ahead and purchased AP’s for everyone and planned on going back in spring of 2005 before the AP’s expired.

After looking at the school calendar (being the bad parents we are, we are pulling the kids out of school) we decided on the last week of April. Our very 1st visit in 2003 we went down that week and really enjoyed it. We didn’t realize that this would be spring break for New Englander’s. Hopefully the crowds won’t be that bad. My dad decided for our Christmas present to give us $2000 so that we could visit the “House of the Mouse”. Thanks Dad for the gift, now we are going to extend our trip. We decided to go down for 10 nights. Yeah!!!! This is going to be our longest WDW trip yet.

I then contacted Magical Journeys in mid-November. By the end of November we had our 10 night stay booked at the CBR. We booked at AAA rates with the hopes of AP rates coming out. AP rates did come out in March, but we had to give up our water view room. Then in mid-January we purchased our airfare. It was a little more expensive then our trip the previous year, but still under $1200 for the six of us.

After the airfare was purchased the trip was official and let the planning begin. The girls are older now and we decided to let them help us plan this trip. Of course they decided to do both princess breakfasts. DH and I are also going to have a night out by ourselves and go and see La Nouba, we purchased those tickets in February.

I also booked our rental vehicle in February and am still hoping for a lower rate. The rate isn’t that bad, but don’t we always want a lower price.

At 100 days out the girls made our countdown chain and it is down to only 11 days now. I just love the chain because they don’t ask me when we will be going because they can see it.

By now most of our plans are set. We have 2 meets set up. We are sharing our IllumiNations cruise with The Goof and family and meeting Colexis Mom and BritDisFan to see IllumiNations.

I think this is going to be the most magical trip yet.

Your trip sounds great, but like you, I'm worried about the crowds too... just a note POR is sold out for the weekend of the 22nd and there are very little flights left from NH to Orlando...yikes... thank goodness for fast pass!

Hey...I'm a New Englander! Yes we have spring break....but do not worry, only we do. Most schools in the rest of the country had SB in March at Easter. WE will be going for 4 nights/5 days at the Dolphin april 21-25. We plan to do MK, Epcot, MGM, and Kennedy Space Center. Maybe we'll see you!

Have a wonderful time! It's great that you have planned an evening alone and were also able to get both princess breakfasts!! The kids must be soooo excited! We made a chain for our last trip; my kiddos really loved taking turns removing the links!

I only pray I can get $1200 total airfare for six- we are facing that hurdle for our October trip. Sounds like a magical time- looking forward to hearing all the details!

Re: Pre -Trip report: Our Magical 10 nights / 11 days at the House of the Mouse!

Updated Pre-Trip!

We are down to just 16 hours before we leave. Most of the packing was done on Sunday, now we just have to make sure to grab the odds and ends tomorrow morning. We have to leave the house at 4:15am so this should be a very interesting day.

I have been cleaning like crazy today. I hate coming home to a dirty house. I wonder why, since I can't even remember the last time I dusted.

I am also going for a pedicure and manicure tonight. We are eating simple tonight too, only sandwiches.

This last week has been hard with the passing of my mom. I am still breaking out in tears. We really need this trip and I keep on telling people we are not coming back, but moving into the castle.

We are bringing the laptop, so I might be able to add some live reports.

That is it from here! Have a great week everyone.

Rhonda, you are my kind of gal - I thought I was the only one that did a crazy 10p-midnight clean of the house the night before the trip! The mani/pedi the day before is an excellent idea - nothing worse than blisters from bad fitting shoes or sore toes from too-long toenails banging the end of your shoe! We look forward to hearing about your trip. Travel safe.
