Thank You Disney Movie Rewards TR (November 16-22, 2014) - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh wow, this is already so cool - what a great start to the day! Can I say seriously jealous?
It was such a fun experience! I still can't believe we did it!

Drew was a great guide, he was so good with the kids and really seemed to enjoy what he was doing.

Love the start of your tour day.
I think if Johnny Depp had been outside the sound stage smoking, I might have been being removed from the studios by security!

I was laughing over your dad calling just as you needed to meet the guide. Chris has the same impeccable timing whenever I'm in line at Starbucks and need to use my phone to pay for my coffee.
The tour already sounds exciting and it has just begun. I already can't wait to read more and see the pictures. Oh and I'm seriously jealous over anyone that was walking by as Johnny Depp was outside!
Great start to your tour! I would love to do something like this!
It was so much fun!

It was funny because we were literally doing nothing for the hour before he called and he calls right when we are getting started.
The tour was so much fun and I still can't believe we had this amazing opportunity. The kids absolutely loved the whole thing.
And yes, I am also jealous of anyone that happened to walk by when Johnny Depp was outside.
Our next stop our our little tours was Animation Hall, which is not quite as exciting as it sounds but is the hallway of what was the original animation building. The really fun part of this is all the amazing pictures on the walls. I would have loved to have a few of these come home with me.
I want to apologize for the pictures on these. I was using my regular camera and I did not pay much attention to settings and lighting and the florescent lights caused them all to have a yellow tint and some are a bit fuzzy. Which makes me a little sad but what can you do. Also, I did not take pictures of every piece of artwork.
Also, I'm not going to describe each of these as I think they are somewhat self-descriptive, but if you have any questions let me know.
I want to point this next one out, it was my absolute favorite picture in the hall. It is a small section of a scene from Pinocchio, and I was just in awe of the level of detail in this tiny little area of the film. Oh, and my photo of it, does not come close to doing it justice!
This is the floor half-way down the hall
When we reached this half-way point Drew told us the story about how they had to get the drawings across the courtyard to the ink & paint building without risk of damage from rain or other weather. This is where we went down in the tunnels and came out near the other building. I don't have any pictures of this, and I feel bad for that, but it really was just like a basement hallway. Oh, and there was a Coke machine down there, which was odd because it was just in this empty hall all by itself. Drew told us that some scenes of movies have been shot down there as well.
This is the door we came out, but I have to admit I really was turned around at this point.
Then we made our way to the building that included Walt's office. In this picture his office would be the top floor in this corner of the building.
Our next stop was Legends Plaza which is directly in front of the Seven Dwarfs Building that houses the corporate offices.
(I don't know who that pointing hand belongs to!)
I am sure we all know what this is. It is the Partners statue like the one in the park.
There were so many Legends plaques that I couldn't take pictures of them all but I took several along the way:
There is also the Sharing the Magic statue of Roy and Minnie:
This is a very large replica of the Disney Legends Award that is given to each Legend:
Drew showed us the Hidden Gus Gus in the back of the Legends Award statue, which I thought was really cute!
I wish I could remember all of the conversations we had with Drew through the whole tour. He was full of fun stories and we just had a great time. If you ever get the chance to do this, ask for Drew to be your guide he was fantastic!!
I loved the animation hallway. Every drawing was just so amazing and it could take hours and hours to really explore everything here. Since I was on my scooter I had a very hard time taking any photos at all, so I appreciate the ones you took. Wasn't it just so surreal to be standing in Legends Plaza and seeing the Seven Dwarfs building?! I kept saying to myself, "I can't believe I'm here!"

I also could have spent hours in that hall! The Pinocchio one I we stood at for maybe 10 minutes just pointing out all the little details. I'm glad you like the pictures, I'm so mad at myself for not adjusting settings. I think I was still in outdoor mode. And yes, standing in Legends Plaza was the best. I also couldn't believe we were there!
