As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad the cast came off, but hate that it is not completely healed. I love thebubble wrap idea.
Thanks for asking about my DD. I was going to take her this past weekend, but she said it felt a whole lot better. No more swelling.
Now me on the other hand, Mrs. Klutz. I fell in the garage this evening, right on both knees and right hand. A little worried I may have chipped my left kneecap. We will see if I can walk in the morning.

Glad to hear your daughter is doing better . I know what you mean about the klutzy stuff...I have been busting myself up painting and redecorating my boys' bedrooms the past week. Bruises everywhere .

We love WDW!!! I know what is not to love? So glad to find there are more Disney crazy people out there like me!
Not too much to report at this time...I am exhausted! Spent the last week painting my DSs rooms, ceilings, walls and all. Furniture comes today and I can NOT wait to have the rest of my house back...my youngest DS has been dressing out of laundry baskets (that are sitting in my living room !) for the past week since we got rid of his baby dresser and had new carpet installed in his room. Looking forward to getting things back to normal for a few days anyway until I start the next project .
I do have some happy news...as of last night we are offically PIF!!!!!!!!!!! That is another thing checked off the list! Now to figure out where our furry children will live while we are gone. Not sure if I have introduced our dogs, we have a Chihuahua/corgi mix named Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (DS 12 named him when he was 3), and a Pomeranian/schipperke mix named Jessie the yodeling cowgirl (DS8 named her we had to stick with the Toy Story theme ). Buzz had been with us since he was a puppy (8 weeks) and he is VERY pampered...he is the best dog ever, he loves everyone and everything as long as he is in his own home/yard. He is very nervous and scared outside his comfort zone...no biting or snapping he just wont eat and refuses to come in after using the bathroom outside. Jessie is a rescue...she was abused and starving when she was rescued we have had her 1 1/2 years. She is the sweetest little dog that craves lots and lots of attention so she does well wherever she stays. We have tried to keep them home in the past but we have an open floor plan and prefer to keep them on the hard floors (in case of an accident which is very rare) and have family and neighbors visit them and let them out, BUT Jessie is very resourceful! DH put up some plywood ( I know it sounds horrible, but we did not want them to be locked in the laundry room for a week, we wanted them to be able to run around a little and they do not make gates big enough to close off our kitchen into the great room) Somehow Jessie (who is 12 pounds and little more that a foot tall managed to jump (we think she has springs in her legs) over the wall and have herself a ball while we were gone and always managed to scale back over the wall beofre anyone came in to let them out for a potty break. While she was free roaming she did chew up a few things, so needless to say she can't be trusted to stay home alone anymore . We have a few boarders in our area that have been recommended to us so I will be making the trip to see them this week.
Time is winding down...almost time to start packing (shhhhhh...I kind of have already started ).
Up next: will we get MVMCP tickets and for which day?

PIF is a great feeling! Have you decided on a MVMCP date yet? You can enter the park around 4:00 with the party ticket, so you do not have to have park tickets for that day if you just arrive after 4:00. Also, not sure if you know this or not, but after the last party day, they do the same parade and fireworks show every night that they did for the party. It also snows on Main St. at night. We went for Christmas one year and skipped the party because we got the same thing after the last night of the party anyway. (minus the characters and free cookies)
Oh my goodness!!!! The days are flying by...32 days until we depart 34 until we are home !
MVMCP tickets purchased! We will be there our first night in WDW. We arrive in the area the day before so we will get plenty of rest the night before the party.
I really need to get my Christmas shopping done...my children have not really asked for anything and I am at a loss on what to get
them . Hoping to be inspired by the Black Friday ads next week. I really wanted to be done shopping and have everything wrapped by Thanksgiving this year but since I have not bought one gift I have failed miserably !

We also moved our trip up to take advantage of free dining and will be at the POR from the 22-26.
As far as the dogs have you interviewed a dog sitter? We use one and they come to the house and watch our 3 dogs 3 times a day for 20.00 a day. That was less expensive than the vets office and they are in their own home.

Glad you could save a little on your trip too! We are still working on dog care while we are gone...waiting to hear back for the gentleman that kept them last time, he is out of town at the moment.

Getting so excited! Got an email from our TA letting us know Disney mail is on it's way 23 days until we leave! I don't know what I was thinking but I started painting the ENTIRE house 2 weeks ago and I am still not done! I have not been painting everyday but after finishing our DS's rooms and seeing how nice they looked I decided the whole house needed a fresh coat of paint so I have been slowly but surely making my way through the whole house ! all bedrooms are done, kitchen & diningroom are done, hallway is done, today I start the greatroom with VERY high ceilings so that may take me a few days since I am painting ceilings too! Not sure where the energy came from but it is sure helping the time pass quickly. We don't even have our Christmas tree up yet I usually have it up and decorated the first or second week in November but I have been debating on just putting up a 7 foot tree instead of our 12 foot one since we wont be here...and the big one is alot of work and my boys (husband included) help get the lights on and a few ornaments then they are done and I am left to put the rest of about a zillion ornaments on myself. I know I should just bite the bullet and put our traditional tree up for my children, but boy that is alot of work to enjoy for 2 weeks then leave and put another one up in our hotel room .
BTW...I DID get our MVMCP tickets for Dec 20th! sh...it is a surprise! I am gong to let my family see that the park closes early that day and let them be a little sad then I will surprise them with the tickets

PIF what a great feeling. Hope things work out for you with fur babysitter. This year our two GIRLS are going to camp. But they love it there. Unfortunately as they are getting older my DW is starting to have ressies about sending them there. So goodby WDW for a few years so we can put together enough to get a Mobil home and bring them with us.
But she did promise me that the year we get it we can do the World for my birthday and Christmas as I can't see either day without them
We are dancing single digit style!!! NINE days until we leave for our magic Christmas trip! I can't believe it is here already...so much to do, Christmas shop, wrap presents (figure out how to hide them for the trip down ), deep clean the house have several pre- Chrstimas parties before we leave, figure out who will care for our fur babies as our previous plans fell through . Got another order from The Disney Store on Friday, now we will all be properly dressed for the magic . My family still has NO idea of the surprises I have instore for them! I am not good at keeping a secret from my husband...but I know he will be thrilled! I am so proud of him, his final pre trip weight loss is holding at 45 pounds...he looks great .
Got all our pre trip auto maintenance done this week...oil change, and we were due for transmission fluid change, will give the inside of the van a deep cleaning and a good washing one day this week. I have to purchase snacks and drinks for our long car ride...last trip we sat on the highway in Ketucky for 3 hours last time needless to say the line for the bathroom at the nearest gas station was LONG! LOL
