Wait!!! Wasn't this supposed to be a weekend trip? TR COMPLETE 11/2 - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Dining is a big part of our WDW trips, I think the girls create their wish lists before we even leave WDW for the next trip and this time was no exception. The girls and I do not venture out much for meals, allergies play a big part in that but also with schedules as crazy as they are most of the time, getting anywhere is far and inbetween so dining at Disney is something we truly look forward too.
I got some information out of Angel based on the premise of our October trip, I knew that there were some character meals that she had been wanting to return to and Jasmine had her list compiled as well. When we were first planning this as 4-nights with my sister I really took into account my nephews eating habits and when I finished my list while it looked ok, it did not excite me that much but I knew Angel would be happy, my nephew would eat and my sister liked the choices but I still yearned for some of those places that would have to be skipped over for another trip.
When the extra days got added on...well that was a whole nother ball game
Now I won't drive you crazy with all the changes that this list has gone through (poor DisneyDani however did not luck out with skipping this section as her e-mail box much have gotten very full from all our e-mailing back and forth with the many, many changes that I made before finally setting on the list which I will share with you know) big to you Dani for bearing with me.
So the list stands as follows:
Sanaa - lunch
1900 PF - dinner
The Wave - dinner
La Hacienda - dinner
Boma - breakfast
Citricos - dinner
Garden Grill - dinner
Kona Cafe - breakfast
Chef Mickey's - dinner (on Angel's birthday)
50's PT - which might change depending on our last day plans
We are also planning on B&C as I have stayed away with Angel's allergies and all, but after Dani told me about their recent wonderful meal there and how well they dealt with Izzy's allergies I am super psyched to finally get to share this with Angel (yes I will admit that I spent a lot of time there on my mom only trip - I know bad mommy)
The girls also have some of their must do's for CS and snacks - Jasmine "must" have an empanada from Bongo's, she must also have a sandwich from EOS, Angel's one CS request is FTB...and me, well I just need a chocolate mousse from France and I will be a happy camper.
Now I have to say I never thought of going without the dining plan, I have always loved it and it worked for us...then it must have been over a year ago when I was reading a post from Lorie when she was discussing not using the dining plan and I e-mailed her for some of her insight...well of course she answered all my questions, gave me some great ideas and sent me the fabulous worksheet that she used to figure out what was the best option so when it came time to decide for this trip I pulled out the trusty worksheet and in the end...since I knew I would have an AP it looked like the TIW would give us so much flexibility and save us money so we are going with the TIW.
Now that Angel is considered an adult paying full price for her when she eats like a bird most of the time just was not worth it, we also were not getting free dining like we had on the past two trips.
I also looked back on past trips, almost every trip we ended up paying OOP for extra TS meals and we had extra CS left over at the end of the trip. I also realized there were so many times we would have enjoyed sharing one or two appitizers and then splitting one or two entrees, many times we would have been fine just all sharing one dessert or not having dessert at all and reading more and more of Heather's TR's and I realized I loved the flexibility of her meals, sometimes dining on various appitizers, or sharing entrees...so I am really excited to see how this works for us.
I love the dining choices...and I know they will do an awesome job of spoiling Angel! Now, you better stay away from any fancy burgers.....
I am so glad we took the plunge and tried Beaches and Cream with Izzy....it is her new fav lunch spot and definitely winner for most amazing dairy/nutfree desserts!
Danielle

PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. Great meal choices. This is the first trip we are not doing CM's. And, we had great luck at B&C with my boys and their allergies. They had cookies Tyler could have (peanut and treenut allgeries and he doesn't eat ice cream...WHAT??? I know!!!) And they got Jason's vanilla ice cream from the back and made sure there was no cross-contamination. (he's peanuts, treenuts, eggs, beef, sesame and shellfish). We had a great experience there!
Awesome dining choices! We feel that TiW is our best money saving option for dining as well since Stefanie would be charged as an adult even though she has a stomach the size of a 5 year old.
I don't know how we would get by without the dining plan; we're all pretty big eaters! But it's great that you have the option of TiW to use. That AP comes in handy for a lot of things.
Does Bongo's have a counter service part? When you mentioned Jasmine and her empanadas, I just knew I'm eventually going to have to try some!
YEAH!! I surprises like this......I like even more birthdays in August too
I'm excited to hear about Saana, we have a dinner there this Oct. I'm also looking forward to how you like not being on the dinning plan. We go back and forth about that issue alot too, we are not big dessert people, one for the table is enough for us. Plus I like having a few apps and sharing a main dish, gives you a chance to really sample alot of things,
But of course I'm excited to hear about the "big reveal"
You win the award for super mom

GREAT list!!! And I agree with you about the TIW vs DDP - we use to always do the DDP.......but now that DD is considered an adult and we too will often share meals, it just is not worth paying that much per day for her ~ and we usually have left over credits that we are scrambling to use on the last day as well - so we are TIW-ing this trip!!! (I actually just went last month with 2 friends and purchased it for that trip - so I am already ahead!!!)

Good thing I just had lunch or I'd be really mad at you for mentioning so many great restaurants! I'm getting really excited for this trip and I'm not even going!

Some of our favorites appear on your list--It sounds like you've got a great bunch of restaurants. Don't skip the arancini at Citricos!
The arancini is on the list....it sounds delicious

I love the fact that there are still places that we have not tried, always is fun adding some of the favorites, some new places...the only hard thing is the more new places we try, the more new favorites get added to the list so many to chose....not enough days

No fancy burgers for me... the burger from B&C does me just fine (also have to say I have always enjoyed the ones from Peco Bills as well - nice ground hamburger meat...lol)
Our meal at B&C has me so excited....ever since our lunch Angel has asked "mom you going to add that on to our October list "

Thanks Eileen Angel is going to love that Izzy is part of the big reveal, then once she realizes that we all knew and she didn't...well I can already picture her little foot tapping as she says "I can't believe you all kept this from me"

I am really excited about B&C, I really enjoyed it on my mom's trip, and know that Angel will be super excited about going and that she will get to enjoy too.

Surprising Angel can get pretty difficult, as she is always into everything. I am just glad she has not figured out how to do post searchs on here by member, she keeps asking if I started our October PTR and I keep telling her I think I am going to skip it and just to a TR.

Bongo's does have a take out window , they are really good as well. I would love to get there one night for dinner, but it just did not fit this trip but some take out will make a great lunch (and late night snack).

Thanks Linny I love your new SIG picture by the way, can't believe how big they are getting. I am definitely going to do a comparison when I get back between the DDP and the TIW...

I am starting to feel that the TIW is definitely the right choice for us (on paper anyway), we will see when I get home how it worked out.
