Our Very Merry Kindschi Christmas Vacation Trip Report - UPDATED 4/23 - COMPLETE!! - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Looks like you had fun at AK despite the cold! Great pictures too, and I love Goofy's tree. So colorful as you said. More please!!
Those little trees in Camp Minnie Mickey were too cute! If you get a chance to see them some day, it's definately worth the walk back there. Some of them were harder to distiguish then others, but they all had at least one thing on them that gave it away. Like on Chip and Dale's tree-it was covered with acorns and strung popcorn and up near the top was a little bird house with their names over the door. Very cute! Thanks for reading!

50 min wait for dino I love that ride too though.
We were bummed that we didn't get on Dinosaur. But we'll have to get on it next time. RR is our favorite restaurant to eat at when we go to WDW. We aren't big TS people, but this restaurant is our one exception. Thanks for reading!
Sounds like a pretty good day at AK even with the colder temps and crowds. I'll have to check out those character trees when we go in December. I don't like the sounds of what's coming up.

What a fun day, even though it was soooo cold! We arrived on the night of the 23rd....I can't believe how much it warmed up in a matter of days! Looking forward to more!!

Definately give yourself some time to go through Camp Minnie Mickey. There are probably a dozen trees or so. They are all very cute! Make sure to check back soon to read the end of my TR! Thanks for reading!

DH and I followed the weather after we returned home and were so at how nice it got down there after we left...figures! But it was definately better then the weather we would have had up here! At lease we were surrounded by Disney magic! Hope you had a great time while you were down there!

I will get the chance to see them in December when I go. I'm so excited! I love reading all the TR's from the holidays because I'm learning all these little tidbits. Thanks for posting about Camp Minnie Mickey because I probably would have never gone back there.

I was on the fence about MVMCP until I saw your pictures. We are definately going on our date night !
Yah! I'm really glad my TR could help someone out! You will MVMCP! We're big character hunters..err..fans! And, we had a great time! The hard part now is waiting!
OMG! Has it really been a month since I last updated this TR? I need to finish it already! But I was gone on a trip to WDW for my birthday during this past month!! to me! Anyway, here is the last installment of our very merry Kindschi Christmas TR! Enjoy!
Day 5: DTD and MK- Our last day
We were up early to get every last minute out of our visit as we could. We headed to DTD to do a little shopping. We had a couple of specific things we were looking for and then headed off to MK to enjoy the day. Again, I was in with all the lamp post decorations for the holidays. I just had to take pics! DH thought I had gone a bit crazy!
We enjoyed Main Street, ate lunch at Casey's (our fav ) and enjoyed the parade. We hadn't watched it the night of MVMCP so we wanted to make sure we saw it on this day! I loved it! It was, by far, one of my favorite things in all of WDW, from all of my trips! Here are a few of my fav pics from the parade:
I think after the parade we headed over to Tomorrowland and enjoyed Buzz Lightyear and TTA. Then we headed back to MTTF to check in on the fairies. The line only said the wait was 35 mins so we decided to wait. Of course, we waited almost 1hr15mins! I was a little disappointed with the "approach" to Tink and her friends, I think I was expecting more fanfare when you get "shrunken" but I think by this point I was just ready to see Tink! Anyway, we got in and found Silvermist, Tinkerbell and Fawn. We really enjoyed talking to Tinkerbell. She said "Wis-cOn-sin" perfectly! I also really liked how Pixie Hollow was decorated: strings of pearls draped, coins that were larger than me, and dewdrops that looked like waterfalls!
After spending quite a bit of time in line for Tink, we found ourselves with little time left in the park. So, we headed over to POTC for one last trip over the edge of the earth with Davy Jones, a late dinner at Pecos Bill's and then stopped by Aloha Isle for some Dole Whip! We spent quite a bit of time on Main Street, enjoying the shops and the snow. We all decided we liked the snow here better than in Wisconsin! This was the last pic I took down Main Street before we left.
The next morning we were headed back to the snow and cold early. We left MCO at 7:30 and flew to Charlotte...and proceeded to sit..and wait...and sit...and wait. After our original departure time from Charlotte of 9:50 was blown to smitherines (sp?), we finally boarded a plane for Chicago at 4 p.m. and arrived at snowy, cold ORD at 7:50 that night. At least we didn't get stuck in the airport on Christmas Eve! Wow! What a trip!
Up Next: TR from my 30th Birthday Celebration at MK!
