Jared's Wish Upon A Star Pop Century Trip 8/14-8/24 - Updated 6/30 - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am so glad I ran across your TR. I am enjoying it so much. The proposal story is so sweet. I have loved your pictures, and what a great mom you have! You are so blessed.
I totally understand what it means to get used to staying home. It was almost like I had lost my identity. I was the bread winner while my DH was in seminary. Then we both worked and made very good money. But, I never got to see our daughter. So, we both agreed it would be best for me to leave my job; thus, cutting our income by more than half. But, with budgeting, we have always been able to travel to Disney and other fantastic destinations and only pay cash. AND, I have been homeschooling our daughter for the past five years, and I love it!
I can't wait to read more. You leave in less than two days!
Pixie dust and blessings from mom! What could be better?
Oh! The fact that you leave in 3 DAYS!!!!!!
I know isn't it great. I am so excited. I'll let you know if any of the touring plans work for me.

Thanks for reading my TR.
I know staying home has definitely been a blessing. I think it is wonderful to homeschool your daughter. I wish I could do that, but I don't think DS would listen to me as well as he does his teachers. (I know that's pretty sad, huh?)

Planning this trip has definitely been a challenge for me. I always need a lot of time to think, plan, and pack. (What can I say, I am really slow) Anyway, I knew I couldn’t waste any time because I needed to make my ADR’s right away.
First thing I needed to do, was decide which resort to stay at. Since my mom was paying, I knew I would not book a deluxe hotel. Well, as luck would have it, I received my first pin code in the mail for value resorts. (this trip was definitely meant to be.) So I called and booked Pop Century from 8/14-8/24. This will be my first time staying there and I’m a little nervous about the size of the room, but my sister and her family always stay there and they really love it. I think the boys will like it.
Next I made my ADR’s. They are as follows:
8/14- Whispering Canyon Café @ 6:25pm (this will be our first time here)
8/15- Crystal Palace @ 8:05am (first time here, we’ve always wanted to be in the parks before they open)
8/16- Princess Storybook Breakfast @ 8:30 am (first time here, this is mostly for me since we are celebrating my b-day also, but DS7 loves Mulan)
Also on 8/16- San Angel Inn @7:20pm (we were here in 1997 when we got engaged and wanted to go back to celebrate our 10th anniversary which is on this day)
8/17- Hollywood & Vine for Fantasmic Dinner Package @ 4:20pm (first time here, I know the time stinks, but it’s all we could get for FDP, everything else was already booked)
8/18- ‘Ohana @ 5/15pm (don’t know if I spelled it right, first time here for dinner)
8/19- Chef Mickey’s @ 8:50pm (we were here on our last trip, I didn’t want such a late dinner with a 2 year old, but that is all they had)
8/20- Tusker House @ 8:25am (first time here)
8/21- 50’s Primetime @ 6:40 pm (third time here, we love it)
8/22- 1900 Park Fare @ 5:10pm (first time having dinner here, we had breakfast last year and we loved it, but DS wants to go to dinner because he wants to meet Cinderella’s stepsisters)
8/23- ‘Ohana @ 8:00am (this is our favorite since Stitch is my boys’ favorite character)
I know we have a lot of character meals planned, but our DS2 won’t sit still in any other restaurant, lol.

Great plans. You will love Pop Century, we've stayed there before. The rooms might be a little small compared to other WDW resorts but they are comparable to other chain hotel rooms (in size only of course!) There's lots that will hold the boys' attention with all the "props" they have scattered around the property. Look for the playground and the Goofy water fountain play area, both are by the 70's buildings.
Don't worry about the early dinner time at Hollywood & Vine. Our first time there we had a 4:15 for the FDP. Since it's a buffet just take advantage of it and fill up. We didn't eat the rest of the night, except for a frozen lemonade that we shared while waiting for Fantasmic to start. And we only got that because it was so hot, not because we were hungry.
You will love the Tusker House breakfast. They have a lot of great choices and the juice is the best I've ever had.
OMG!!! I can't believe you leave tomorrow!! I'm so excited for you!!! I can't wait to hear about it when you get home. The character meals are the best! You will enjoy all of them. And, hey, they are free aren't they? I can bet the boys aren't going to sleep well tonight!
