Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

In 2006 I was waiting for Muppets 3-D. I saw the WDW VIP guide standing next to me and thought (while looking around) "Wonder who could be here?" I then saw a shorter guy with crazy graying hair standing next to me. He looked at me, smiled and said, "Happy birthday." (I had a button on that said, "It's my Birthday today" because I was celebrating #33 at WDW. I smiled back and said, "thank you." During our little "moment" I relized that her was non other then Rob Stewart! I didn't say anything but when we were shuffled into the theater I ended up sitting right next to the VIP guide. The guy sitting next to me leaned over and shook Rod's hand and said something to him. I turned to the guy and said, "is that Rod Stewart" the guy laughed and said, "Yes" hmmm...cool!

The weird thing is he looked like every other tourist there....nothing really stood out if it weren't for the VIP guide I probably wouldn't have even noticed him. I didn't get any photos even though I could have. I just think it is rude...they are just people trying to enjoy their vacation. The last thing they need is every tourist at WDW sticking a camera in their face.

We saw Shaq in the candy store on the corner of mainstreet. He was with a few of his kids waiting in line for fudge! There were a lot of people taking pictures and he was very gracious.
My DH and his friend saw Steve Young (QB for '49ers) and stalked him for awhile until he ducked into the restroom behind The Plaza restaurant-I'm glad they didn't follow him in there. It wouldn't have been an awkward place to ask for an autograph.

We saw Neil Patrick Harris a couple of times over the last few days. He was the guest narrator for the Candle light Processional.
We was with a CM guide and a group of friends, I wouldn't of noticed him otherwise but he had smiled and waved at my DD (2) outside of Everest, and I kept racking my brain as to why he looked familar.
We also seen him at Epcot, shopping and taking goofy pics w/ his friends in Japan

Talking

Back in 2002 I saw Roger Clemens in the 50s Primetime Cafe. He was only two tables away from my family, didn't seem to be bothered by all the attention he and his family were getting. A couple of kids went up to him to get his autograph and he obliged them. Can't say I was too thrilled though being a Red Sox fan!!

Even better, I saw Nicolas Cage in Las Vegas in the FAO Schwarz store in Caesar's back in 2000. He is just as attractive in person!

lissalp,
My daughters friend from HS class of '04 is a cast member and she is sometimes Stitch. Almost as good as seeing a celebrity at the world (which I haven't unfortunately) is knowing a cast member.

We ran into Neil Patrick Harris at the Adventurers Club. He was there with some friends and was basically just one of the guys. He didn't have any Disney CM or obvious bodyguard or anything with him. In the "library," he was seated at the table right next to ours.

Michael J. Fox

We were at the Brown Derby waiting in the front to be seated. My wife noticed Michael J. Fox's with with the kids coming from the bathroom. I did not know who she was but thought it was cool to see her just waiting out front with the kids. I waited around a minute or two thinking that Michael would appear. He did not...well not right away.

We were seated in the very front of the restaurant near the outdoor patio. We noticed that next to us a large table was set up near the window and then Mrs. Fox (I think her name is Tracy...my wife would know better) and the kids and an entourage of people brought to the table. Once everyone was seated, the side door opened and Michael J. Fox was brought in to the table. He was very casual with a ball cap. He and his wife adore their kids...they were having a great time and no one bothered them which was very nice.

At the end of lunch, I brought my daughter to the bathroom to change her diaper and was "involved" at the changing table. I heard a father talking to his son and then realized that it was Michael. We happened to finish just before they left the bathroom and I held the door open for them as they were leaving. I said hello and got a Hi and thanks back. Seems like a really nice guy. I am glad no one bothered him so that he could enjoy the time with his family.

Some of you have seen my FAVORITE celebrities. Chris Rock? Adore him! And Steven Tyler?! Love him. Aerosmith was my first concert and I saw them again this past September. And Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie. Those guys crack me up.

It seems as if there's a basketball theme with celebrities my family's encountered. I cant believe I cant remember the guys name but we met a basketball player who's played for the Nets and Heat in the past at the Boardwalk checking out and he was nice enough to take a picture with my little cousin. The same trip, my cousins saw Shaq and his family eating at Rainforest Cafe in DTD. I believe this was July 2004. July 2006, our trip coincided with the Miami Heat tickertape parade. It doesnt really count but I swear Dwayne Wade was staring right at me and I have a pic of him waving at me. I know, I know. I shouldn't flatter myself

Was hopping off the boat last week at WL coming back from MK, and on the boat dock waiting for the next ride was Darryl Dawkins...aka "Chocolate Thunder"...formally of the Philadelphia 76ers. I was in awe...my young kids had no clue! Saw him several more times as he was on our floor at WL with his family. Nice guy.

You know - Nicholas Cage isn't necessarily some one you would look at twice in a picture, but then the guys starts to walk and talk, and oh, yeah!!! I loved Ghost Rider 'cause it had Nicholas Cage AND Sam Elliott - how could you possibly go wrong!!

Question Celebrity Sighting

Too many years, and several trips ago, we stood in line with Susan Sarandon. Her son was a year or so older than my 2 yr old. And we realized with that encounter how unrealistic television/movies are. She most definitely wasn't looking glamorous, but I preferred her mommy look anyway.

I've always wondered if she still is going to DW like we are with our older kids...

At Disneyland, my friend and I were waiting for the front car of the Monorail. When it pulled up, they slipped Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, and their kids in front of us. It was one of the son's birthday. It was neat getting to see them, they seemed like a happy family. We didn't mind waiting a couple minutes for the next Monorail. At least I got a star sighting out of it. About a year ago, we saw Barry Bonds getting off the Peter Pan ride. We didn't know what the big deal was, but all these men were shouting things at him, so we figured it was a sports guy.
