The Light at the end of the tunnel to the Caribbean Beat Trip Report Sept 18 to Sept 29 - **Updated 3/31** COMPLETE!! - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Don't ever question the room assignor! hahahahahah
Kelly
We will never second guess our room assignor again. It was the best room for us. I hope that next year we will be able to get a great room like that.
We also had the best maid while we were there a couple of days she wasn't there & we could tell. If she saw us in outside the room she would always talk to us. We tried to get her name (duh we forgot to look) but they didn't know at the front desk when we left on DME!

Great pictures and so glad that you had fun even with the rain....sometimes it is those off days that you can find the best memories....either you get on rides without wait, or you can see the park in a different view without so many people crowding around...
Glad that you did not let the rain stop you from enjoying the day....

We laugh b/c of the amount of rain we got. Guess we were real lucky that we didn't get rain the last two years. I am in the process of getting Day 3 up & running.

We got up & got ready so that we could go over to AK for 1/2 of a day. We really just wanted to see some of the musicals. Well by time we got there one had already started. We didn't know if we were going to be able to make the other one.
The character boat & EE what more could you ask for. I didn't get my camera out in time to get a good picture of the characters
The other times of the day were not good for us so we rode Primeval Whirl which will probably be the last time for us.
We waited a good 30 mins to get on & then it was so rough. That was why we all were pretty sore for the next few days. After that we wanted to eat at the Rainforest Cafe.
Shayne is always being a comedian!
So we walked over there & looked around the store before we went in. We had to wait about 20mins before we were seated then we were put in the bar area.
The food was okay but the service was extremely slow. It took over 2 hours to get sandwiches, eat & leave I don't think we will be eating there again. By this time we were all cranky & decided to go back to the room.
My mom & dad walked down to OPR & my brother decided to go swimming. I thought while I had some free time I would walk around the resort & get some pictures. I was really glad that I did since this was our second time here and I never took the time to explore. I only saw 1/2 of it but it was a nice relaxing walk. After that I was hot so I went back to the room to cool down & rest for a little bit. We are going to HDDR for dinner tonight. We left at 5:00 or a little after to MK so that we could catch the boat to HDDR. When we got to MK the sky looked really dark. When we got the to the covered boat dock it started to rain. Then the boat came pulling up it unloaded the people off of it & started to load us. Don't you know that the sky opened all the way up & started down pouring. So everyone was running to the boat but once they were inside they were taking there time trying to find a seat. So in return you guessed it, we were stuck standing outside for a minute or two before we were in the boat. By this time you could have rung our clothes out to make a gallon of water. We are headed to the HDDR with the best AC on property. So while on the boat ride we could still see lighting across the lake. After the boat docked, we were one of the last to get off. We walked over to the store & I sat on the oversized rocking chairs. While my parents exercised their lungs. Then we walked over to check-in, we had already picked up our tickets at the resort when we checked-in, so I am not sure why we have to get our names checked off a list anyhow. We had about 30mins to kill, the photographer was gone b/c of the rain. We notice the lightning & thunder was now getting a lot closer. So we took cover by the bathrooms. The first show started letting out while we were standing there. By the time the crowds were starting to clear out it started down pouring again with a lot of thunder & lighting. We were finally allowed to go in & still wet from our boat ride over. We did have the best seats; we were center stage, second row back. We were a little cold. It was a good show but not as good as last year. So after filling our bellies to the max on good food & seeing the show it was time to go. The rain was still coming down, so after a trip to the restroom we were trying to decide what to do. Then we saw the busses & we are not sure if the busses are always there or if it was b/c of the rain. Last year when we went, MK was open until 11:00pm, so we took the boat back & watch the fireworks on our way back. It was kind of interesting would got to see what some of the other hotels. Our bus driver was so funny & was yelling at the people working the gates at the hotels b/c they weren't open them. On our bus was Poly, Beach/Yatch, CBR, & POP. When we got back we decided to call it a night. I turned on the TV to see tornado warnings above Orlando. Who would have thought that while on vacation that we would have tornado warnings? The next room neighbor told my parents that they have had them for the last couple of hours.
Coming up next: Chill out morning, first experience at WCC, & MNSSHP oh my!!!!!
