Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Nope - not even for oprah's free stuff. I woke up with vertigo for some strange reason about 6 years ago and it lasted a good week. Since then I can't stand spinning.

I love the shot of Hope and the Sword. She is posing, it is adorable.
At first she was starting to shy away from the camera, which she never does, but then she starting hamming it up again.

I think there are only a couple of places that offer sweet iced tea, which I think is a total shame for us non-soda drinking people. And I think once you eat a Dole Whip you're hooked!

Okay...that's a good excuse. I was, however, thinking about you as I watched her Friday episode.

I hope your step father is doing okay. Glad you're back though. It's funny, because I feel like we didn't do as much as we usually do, but then again, we only had a couple of days to work with.

September 24, 2010: Part Four

Before heading to dinner we stopped for some photos along the way…look, no more ugly crane!

I guess Hope got over her fear of ducks…

Once at Columbia Harbor House I ordered the New England Clam Chowder (soooo yummy) and Hope the chicken nuggets.

When I got to the table mom went to get her food, and when she came back she had two orders of a kid’s chicken nuggets!!! She told me that when they brought the tray to the counter it had two orders on it, so she told them she had only ordered and paid for one. The CM looked at her ticket and said, “Well, I guess today is your lucky day because you’re getting two for the price of one.” I wish I would have ordered mine after her and then I wouldn’t have had to pay for Hope’s meal, but it didn’t happen that way, and my mom’s kids meal ended up turning into an adult’s meal.

After dinner we headed back to get on Winnie the Pooh one more time. Again, Hope loved it, and if I had more time I would have done it once more with her, but we needed to get to Main Street to find a nice spot for the parade. It was around 7:15pm and the parade started at 8pm, so I wasn’t sure what we were going to find. Just like I thought, everyone was already staking out seats on the curb, so we just kept walking and walking and finally found a spot at the Town Square hub. I called Dawn to find out where they were and they were doing some shopping in Frontierland. I let her know that the spaces were filling up quickly and that I didn’t think we would be able to save seats so that they could sit with us. That was fine because they were just going to watch it there, and we would meet in front of the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor so we could watch Wishes together.

So we waited and waited , taking turns walking around the circle with Hope in order to keep her awake for the parade, and I took a couple pictures on my journey...

Then a CM came around with stickers so that kept her busy for a while longer...

While we were still waiting I finally got to see this…

Finally the parade began, and even though I SpectroMagic, I have to say that I was happy to see an old favorite again. I’m also going to apologize for the awful pictures since I didn’t know how to set my camera for this. Movement + lights + darkness = FAILURE.

Pssst...if you can't tell this is supposed to be tinkerbell

Funny story about these dancers...one of the girls fell right on her butt and her skirt flew up over her head. I mean, her feet were sticking straight up in the air!!! I felt so bad for her but she got right back up and kept going.

After the parade was over, we made our way back up Main Street so we could wait at the Ice Cream Parlor for them. At this point it was sprinkling again, and I was hoping that’s all it would do since I didn’t get to see my beloved Wishes last time we were here. Finally they found us, and after chit chatting for a bit , we walked back down Main Street so we could get a better view of the castle.

The rain held off and once it started I began by taking a couple of pictures…still not knowing what I was doing as you can see. (Next year my goal is to take fabulous night shots so I at least feel like I learned something about my camera!)

But after a couple minutes I realized that I didn’t want to be behind the lens anymore, that I wanted to hold my little girl while I was watching my favorite show and just enjoy the moment with her. She just held me tight as she watched the fireworks in the sky and we stood there, my head leaning on her head as we took in the magic…it was priceless, and I’d be lying if there weren’t tears in my eyes. This is what all of my years coming to Disney World was for, so that I could share these moments with my daughter, and hopefully when she gets older, she will be standing there with her child in her arms, while I stand there watching her…just like all three of us were doing at that moment.

I was sad when it was over, but I didn’t have time to really think about it because we had to make our way out of the park before everyone else did. Yeah, easier said then done. The park closed at 9pm and everyone was going in the same direction, so we said our good-byes as we all walked towards the buses making plans to meet up again tomorrow at Epcot.

When we finally got to our bus stop the line wasn’t too long and we actually only had to wait about 10 minutes for a bus. There was a woman in front of me with a double stroller, and it was really wide even when folded up. She walked on the bus, and only stepped about 3 feet in before stopping, I noticed a seat right up front and took it because I was holding a now sleeping Hope. I felt bad because my mom was going to have to stand with our stroller but she said she was okay, however, she couldn’t get on the bus because that woman had stopped and my mom couldn’t get around her huge stroller. People behind my mom were starting to get angry, going as far as to tell me to tell that woman to move. I flat out told them she wasn’t with me and I wasn’t about to tell her anything. The bus driver finally steps up and tells the woman that she needs to keep walking all the way to the back of the bus, but she tells him that she can’t make it back there with her larger-than-life stroller. He tells her she’s going to have to get off the bus then, and she says she will as long as she can get back on and stand up front. A deal is made, and everyone, including my mother has to back up off the bus.

Finally, everyone starts making their way back on, and my mom is now standing in the back of the bus, but I knew we would meet up at our stop. The stroller lady finally gets back on after everyone else, and we are on our merry way…phew , what an ordeal! But it didn’t end there…apparently my mother had to listen to a screaming child the whole way home. For some reason I didn’t hear it, but she said it was bad, so bad that she felt sorry for his parents. Apparently the kid was yelling at his parents to stop touching him and to leave him alone and how he hated them, and this tantrum lasted until he got off the bus at the YC. The only good thing about this bus ride from hell was that there were only two stops…the YC and then the BC.

Hope was now fully passed out, but I was in the mood for something a little sweet, so while we were still out and about, I set off to get my one and only milkshake of the trip. I must admit that I didn’t time this so well, because a lot of the people coming back from Epcot were in line as well, but Mom waited for me outside while I waited for my vanilla milkshake. Now, you would think that a vanilla milkshake wouldn’t take almost 20 minutes to make, but it did! I had several people tell me that it better be the best tasting milkshake in the whole world because I had been waiting so long. I even had people getting huge sundaes pass me, but eventually I had my heavenly milkshake in hand, and I was once again happy.

We headed back to the room, getting this shot along the way…

…and settled in after a very busy and hot day. Tomorrow was our Epcot day, my favorite, and I wanted to be full of energy for what was to come, plus we had to get up early so I could see if I could snag us an ADR at Cape May Café.

Up Next: Did she just say Donald?!?

I also wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!!! Have a great holiday!

I'll admit that I was teary eyed when reading about you and Hope during the fireworks. What a special moment to share with your daughter. Sorry about the bus ride and the long wait for your milkshake, but otherwise its sounds like you had a great night.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Great update..............up until the point where you called out the falling dancer Shame on you! Just kidding.....I am usually the first to point and laugh as well, but as a retired performer, I know how awful that can be.

We loved MEP and Wishes looked different to us. Was it? I loved it and can totally agree with the whole holding your baby while watching Wishes. Gets me everytime.

Now I'm off to call hubs and ask him to bring me a vanilla milkshake from anywhere.....thanks alot

Loved this update, Melissa! Your story of watching Wishes with your little girl is so sweet. Definitely worth skipping the pictures. Sorry it took so long to get your milkshake but coming from B&C I know it was worth it.

Awwwwww how wonderful you & Hope watching fireworks! It almost made me cry! My babies are 12 & 15 but they will always be my babies! Watching the fireworks & everything about our trip was amazing to me!! I love sharing these things with my kids!! I can just imagine how wonderful it was for your mom!! I feel sooooo sorry for that poor girl falling.....it would have made me laugh but feel bad for it....I know I'm silly! Sorry about the bus ride....we had some bus fun too. My mom was in a scooter & some people were not too happy about waiting for her to load & unload. Not that I blame them for wanting to get going. I just felt bad for my poor mom being the center of everyone’s wait. I have found that some people will just never be happy! We were on safari bus at AK one day & people were getting super mad at the bus driver for not going. I still am not sure what he was waiting for....o well people were getting overly rude with him in my opinion. Your milk shake looked yummy!!! I love your pictures! I know I say that a lot....I may have to get a camera like yours! My night parade pictures were just awful I thought yours were nice. For a short trip y’all got a ton of fun in!! I just LOVE your trip report!! Can’t wait to read more!!
~**~HAPPY THANKSGIVING~**~

Sounds like a great night overall, despite the bus issues and the wait for the yummy shake! I have to admit, I did laugh a little at the picture you painted about the fallen dancer
