Sparky's Gone to the World- A TR 9/13/11-9/20/11 - Page 44 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

That burger at LC really is good. But you need to try the Kobe burger at Yak and Yeti! O.M.G! (and why not have a Yak Attack while you're there - Yummm!) Yes, you must show your pearl!

I didn't know there even blue pearls out there. Obviously my pearl knowledge is lacking. I think a blue pearl would look beautiful in one of those Cinderella carriage pearl cages, but I guess you have to have the little girl picking one for you. Anyway, I knew I should have tried that Cantaloopy, but I didn't this past trip. I don't remember who said it tasted like that, but I do remember DisneyDana saying cantaloupes taste like old people smell.

Yes, there was a thread on another site that people were posting pics of their pearls on and I saw a few blues. It's a really pretty silvery Cinderella blue too! They also have dark purple and silver.
Omg, the Cantaloopy is incredible and as far as Dana's comments....well she'll be smelling old people next year. Bc I intend to have a couple...and she will have to deal with my old person stank!
Great day! I love the Pick a Pearl--I have a green pearl ring that is my favorite piece of jewelry! I'm so glad you liked your Le Cellier lunch--our last dinner was somewhat horrific--maybe I'll go back for lunch on the next trip--everyone knows I love a good burger. I second trying the one at Yak and Yeti--it's pretty amazing!

Thanks Heather! I haven't had dinner at LC, but I love lunch! It's my fave on property. I am going to have to see about squeezing in Y&Y! next trip.
We arrived at GF and DH was flabbergasted. Right away he says "NOW THIS! This is my favorite resort so far. This is awesome" I was shocked that GF was DH's dream resort. He isn't usually interested in things that fancy. But he loved it.
We checked in for our ADR and were given a buzzer. The restaurant was crazy busy. I happened to hear a couple people at the podium asking about their ADR because they had been waiting a very long time. Ended up that for some reason some of the beepers weren't working correctly. We took a seat in the lobby and took in the sights. DD started playing with a little boy and girl who had a little matchbox they were racing across a table. After a while, I said to DH I was going to check because I thought we had been waiting quite a long time, and where I happened to overhear other complaints....
Wouldn't you know it? Our buzzer never went off. So we finally were seated about an hour after our ADR time. DH saw the stepsisters and stepmother and started to worry about DD, thus the explaining began. He kept telling her that when they came over if they seemed mean they were just pretending. He was so afraid that she would get upset. We do have one pretty sensitive little girl. When they all came over she was fine though. She went to hug the Stepmother and she says "Oh no dear. I don't hug. Do I look like an armrest? Stand in front of me and we'll take a picture." I went to take a picture and the battery died at that instant. DH was videotaping, so I said "Give me the videocamera!" (I wanted to take a still) and the stepmother says "OH! She's bossy...I like that!"
Dru was trying to give our DD her sister, as DD is an only child. She kept saying "You can have mine! She is right over there. You can just take her right home with you" When Anastasia finally came over she was at the table next to us and this boy at the other end of our row kept screaming. Over and over again. Finally, Anastasia all of a sudden mid sentence turned toward the boy's direction and screamed out as loud as she could. The whole restaurant went quiet, looked at her, and she went back to visiting with the family. I was dying! I was laughing so hard the minute she turned around to yell. Which happened to be in our direction. She didn't say anything, she just shrieked. She never made a face even, just like it never happened. Let me tell you though, it worked! That boy never made a peep the rest of the time we were there.
After a lovely meal, we settled up and headed to MK hoping to catch Wishes. Wishes is my favorite show or anything of everything at WDW. I like to see it a few times per trip and we hadn't seen it yet. We got there as it was going but caught the last few minutes from behind some trees. Couldn't move an inch, once we hit the beginning of Main St.
I don't remember what we did but I know we did some shopping after that. I ended up buying a new pocketbook. The one that is light blue with the Mickey and Minnie comic strip characters on it. I had seen it last year and almost bought it, but decided upon the black Mickey one I got instead. I am glad I did it that way as the black one I didn't see anywhere this year.
I don't think we even rode anything this night. After some shopping it was pretty late so we just went back to the resort. I ended up going right to bed this night, as I was so tired and Lorraine had left that morning. Which I forgot to mention in the morning section of this day. We said our goodbyes this morning as she was leaving the resort about 11:00. It was so neat to meet someone at WDW, and I enjoyed all our early morning and late night talks. She really saved us from the crabbies that one night. It was neat to have someone that before heading out for the day or at the end of the night, you waved to and say "See ya in the morning!" or "See you tonight!" It was also neat to meet up at the end of the day and talk about the days adventures.
I still haven't found Lorraine's email. Still hoping I will or I hear from her.
Really? That is so cool! I went with the blue bc I was afraid of the white. I now have 2 WDW pocketbooks, one for fall/winter and one for spring/summer. Although, I just put the new one away a few weeks ago. It was new so I wanted to use it though it was bought for spring/summer.
Did you see my new ticker? Pretty cool huh!!?? I can't wait to get this over with. I am writing another entry today. Then it's one more and done.
I am TOO excited about my next writings....Surveying to WDW for FFP!!!
We never got to meet the Stepmother when we ate there this past trip. She was replaced with the Fairy Godmother, which probably ended up being a good thing. Sounds like you had some great interaction though. The Stepsisters really are funny.

We did have a great time. It's on the list for next trip! I would like the FG too, but I would miss the SM, she is so funny...in a meaner way.
Sounds like a great night at 1900 Park Fare, I love those step sisters, they are hysterical! Funny, though, how your husband was trying to warn your DD, I was doing the same thing Just trying to prepare my girls, they too can be overly sensitive at times
These last 2 days were somewhat of a blur. On this day I believe we rode some rides, including the People Mover, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, Mickey's Philharmagic (one of our faves) It's a Small World, and Splash Mountain.
When we were coming out of Philharmagic, DD was saying she wanted the Donald Doll...or at least that is what I thought. We were pulling her away in the opposite direction and she was yelling "NO!! The Donald Dolls!" I finally realized she was saying "The dancing dolls!" She wanted to ride IASW, which was easily doable, especially considering it was only a walk on ride.
Another funny story from the day was taking DD on Splash Mountain. When we came down the drop, she turned to me and said "I just love SM! I love screaming! I could do it again and again and again!"
At some point, DD wanted to ride the teacups, so DH was going to take her on, but it closed while they were in line. They met me at the smoking area in Tomorrowland, and DH said he was taking DD to visit Chip & Dale across the way. She was disappointed that we had miss GG with them and had been bugging us to meet them, but it seemed that the line was always long. She was very happy and you could see it.
About this time was our ADR for Crystal Palace. We made our way there and checked in, seated within minutes. As soon as we were seated we noticed that all the characters were nearby. They had come to us in record time! We enjoyed our meal as usual and continued on.
2 of my favorite pics from the trip.
We headed toward Adventureland and did some attractions there. Pirates, the Tiki room (1st time), and the Magic Carpets. We ended up in Liberty Square and it was time for Hall of Presidents (I think, or was that another day... If I mentioned it before than it was another day, if not then it was now) DD was quiet the whole time, and DH said he really liked it. I was surprised. It's a great attraction and I can't believe I never paid any mind to it before last year.
Before we knew it it was getting time to head back to the resort to take a short break and then meet up with Jess & David (Jessie092498). On the way back we ended up getting a text from Jess saying they were on the DME and on their way. We got to the room, I did the receipts for the night. Changed clothes (this was done a lot, it was so hot) and started up towards got caught up because along the way DD spotted a monstrous dragonfly, picked it up and had to show everyone. One man with his son was looking at it and the man was freaking out, saying "WOW! I can't believe you picked that thing up. You're a rock star!" We ended up giving the dragonfly to that little boy to show off. Finally we made it to the front and found Jess and David.
They were exhausted as they had a l.o.ng. day of traveling from the west coast. But they were hungry! So we all grabbed our dinners and sat down. Jess was just as friendly and nice as I remember, and David was less shy this time around. Him and I gabbed and gabbed. He is very funny!
At some point, DD must have thought that something on Jess's plate looked really good, because quick as a wink she grabbed it and started munching it. I couldn't believe she just took food off someone else's plate like that, she hasn't done that before.
Jess very nicely told her "I don't mind sharing, but please ask me first." DD apologized and they did end up sharing quite a bit of French fries (I think it was).
They were debating on going to bed or going out to Jelly Rolls. We were heading to DHS to catch the 10 pm showing of Fantasmic. We took pictures this time, although only with Jess...we should have gotten a group one! But at least we have a memento this year . We all hugged goodbye and parted ways.
I love this one of me and Jess!
We immediately headed to the buses and soon we were entering DHS. We meandered around till it was close enough to show time and we started down the long walk. It was awful. Shoulder to shoulder people and very hard to navigate with a scooter, but we finally made it. We got our seats in the handicapped viewing area and waited. There were many people sneaking into the area, and a CM kept shooing them out. They were none too happy.
Soon the lights dimmed and the show started. We had never seen this show before, and I wanted to see it because it is DisneyDana's favorite show. I am so glad I did! I really enjoyed it and it wasn't that hard to go with my scooter. It is not my favorite show (I still love me some Wishes!) but I think I do like it even better than Illuminations. DH said it's on the must do list for next time.
When Fantasmic was over we made the same maddening journey back down the long walkway. We went to the smoking area by the Brown Derby and there was music coming from around the corner. DD asked to use the bathroom so I brought her around the corner and when we were coming out she asked to go in the building where the music was coming from. I said that was fine, we just needed to let daddy know.
It ended up being a dance party with some characters. DD danced with Pluto...to the point that his handler brought him to the other side of the room, because DD just kept wanting to dance with him. Once he was gone, so was the appeal, so we went to find DH.
We started heading towards the entrance, as it was pretty late at this point.
We made one stop in the arcade to play a few games, and then called it a night.
Up Next: Our first breakfast at 'Ohana with Lilo & Stitch and...leaving....
