As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I saw that article about Disney donating that money last night at the airport, it helped ease some of the guilt I felt for still making our trip. They are a great company, one of the reasons we will continue to come back!

Thank you for jogging my memory about the Red Cross donations. I just donated all my saved air miles to be used for getting relief workers to the devastated areas.
I saw the article about Disney donating the money also and it brought tears to my eyes because like I said before no matter whether it was New Jersey, PA, NY, DE or MD, this is our home, its our cluster of close knit states and to see Disney which we love so much doing something so meaningful, it just makes me realize why we do go back each year and why we have brought disney into our childrens's lives.
This morning there were crews from Alabama heading over. It is really neat working here and getting to see how many people are heading over to lend a hand. It really does touch your heart. I have had people calling everyday, they are trying to relocate to relatives homes and want to make sure they can get across the Del Mem Bridge and that our roads are okay.

So glad you are all ok and that the power is back on! Crews from Houston have been sent to Atlantic City to help get the power restored there.
Sending continued for everyone affected by the hurricane. We know first-hand how devastating it can be, so I feel for you and your friends and neighbors!
Ok - that just brought tears to my eyes (Disney donating $$) however, it's not taking much this week - it is just so devastating what has happened. Although, my home is okay and we were without power for 4 days, I can't imagine all the devastation that I have seen. One of our favorite beach areas in RI is completely devastated Not sure they will be able to rebuild again - it was beaten by Hurricane Bob and they rebuilt then, but this one is so much worse - buildings jsut completely gone - the beach is really no longer a beach.
Hope all is still okay in your area Linny.

DOn't feel guilty, you need to celebrate all the good still and enjoy this time with your family. There will be plenty of time to help rebuild once you guys get back, most towns you can't even get into now anyway.
ENJOY your trip with your family

DIsney understands family so much and I just love what they are doing to help out. It really does warm my heart all the help everyone is giving.

Well thank you very much for the crews from Houston. AC got power back today and allowed residents back into the city. My sister one of them, so we thank you!!

They will get it back, it will just take time and faith, we will all rebuild
Today I had left open for whatever we felt like doing, although I did have a feeling we might be heading back to AK and that was exactly what we decided to do.
We walked up to the Tree of Life just as they were doing the morning announcements and then soon went off for another safari ride. We had a great ride on KS and I was filming what I could but also just trying to enjoy this with my family. We saw a black rhino charging around and I was so happy to have caught it all on film…….oh but wait, did I? Yeah no, filmed the whole thing with the power button off. I felt really horrible about that for about an hour, and then I got over it.
From there we headed over the MJT. I just think this trail is so pretty, we didn’t see a whole lot of action but just walking around was nice. Josie started taking over as “Tour Guide Josie” she does this thing where she is like I have to show you something….it’s right over here…..uhm over here some more……ooh yeah, here it is. Which usually turns out to be a rock, or a trash can or something so random? We just went with it until we finished the trail.
We wanted to try out ITTBAB since it was down yesterday. I haven’t been in here since Josie’s first visit in 2008 and I couldn’t remember a whole lot about it. However I did like this sign….
Let’s just say this was an epic fail. For both kids. Andre just down right hated it and Josie would go back and forth from laughing hysterical to blood curdling screaming. So, not real sure what to make of it right now. That attraction is SOOOO loud, wouldn’t bother me if we didn’t go on for a while.
Now Arnaud really wanted Josie to go on KRR and I tried to explain to her what it was and she seemed game for it. I knew the height was 38inches for this and Arnaud was really pushing for me to let Andre go on it. I was like no way dude!! We weren’t even sure how he would measure up, but I am pretty sure with his shoes on he would have been right at the mark. However let’s not forget….HE IS STILL A BABY!!! The kid was 21 months old. He kept trying to get me to budge, but I wouldn’t so off he and Josie went. Andre and I went down to Dinoland and they planned on meeting us there.
Once we all met back up I was expecting them to be drenched, but only Arnaud was slightly wet and still it wasn’t much. Josie loved the ride so this turned out to be a BIG first ride for her!!
We hadn’t thought about what or where we wanted to eat at this point, but now we were pretty far into our vacation and we hadn’t had a real big juicy burger or fries yet, so we decided it was time and we went off to try Restaurantosaurs.
We have never been here before so Arnaud went to find seats and I went up to order, while I was there the girl asked me if I wanted to donate to the Wildlife Conservation Fund……I said YES I would, in honor of Princess Stefanie please!! She just smiled at me and took my donation and then handed me 3 buttons. I got all our burgers and took the drinks over to the table and then headed up to the fixings bar. Holy cow there was so much to choose from here. I found sautéed mushrooms and filled up on those because Josie will eat them like candy. That girl was in heaven with those. Lunch was great and it was good to get some real good fatty food in our system too!
Earlier I had grabbed FP for Dinosaur and wanted to see if Josie would go on. I really had nothing to tell her since I had never been on it. I did tell her it might be a little scary but she seemed OK. SO off her and I went. Well this would be epic fail number 2 for this day. She hated it and to be honest, I don’t really remember much of it because I had my head down around her the whole time. We laughed about it when we got off, but I don’t think she will be running back to that one anytime soon.
Arnaud had texted me and told me to come meet him down the path for Pooh and friends. SO we headed over to meet up with him and Andre and had a great time meeting Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger.
AT this point we felt like we had done enough for the day and wanted to head back to the Poly and do some swimming. We had to leave early for the Luau tonight anyway, so we wanted to get some swimming, naps and showers in before. So off we went. UP NEXT: The Luau and our FABULOUS seats
Great day! Well, except the scary parts! I will never forget taking Em on Dinosaur the first time.........she (and friend we were visiting with were 4 at the time) came off sobbing!!! Nothing scared either of these girls before that....and then an hour later they were both begging to ride again!

Great photos! I usually just do the animal trails and Rafikis at AK, and hearing your tale of the rides made me realize that there are some pretty scary rides there! I like It's Tough to be a Bug, but can understand that it would be hard for little ones to take. I agree, too loud. And Dinosaur I don't like-- too jerky. Good for Josie riding Kali for the first time. Easy to forget Andre's not even 2 yet--big boy! I love that photo of him holding out his arms.
Linny, I'm so glad your family is OK and have the power back on! Our family has been sending prayers and pixies for you and your part of the country. It has been devastating just seeing it on the news. I can't imagine what it is like to be there. Thank you for sharing your beautiful family and magical TR with us! Disney magic always seems to make things better! I'm impressed that Josie went on Dinosaur. It scares the pants off me!
Sounds like a nice, leisurely day at AK! My kids were not fans of Dinosaur either - they didn't even see the scary part, they were too busy hiding their faces in anticipation of it! LOL!
