As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

One Dental Diva takes on the World...Completed 3/23
Who: Jenn - 15th trip, DH Jim-7th trip
When: January 13 to 17, 2005
Where: Pop Century Resort
Why: Annual January Trip with my DH and to go to my new favorite place in WDW Comedy Warehouse and Adventures Club
Thursday January 13, 2005
I have been looking forward to this trip since, well since I came back from WDW in October! Somehow it’s not as bad leaving when you know you are coming back so soon. Jim worked today and I finished up the packing, tidying up the house and getting DS Jameson prepared to leave Mommy and Daddy for a few days. He is to stay with my DS Pam (who some of you may remember from my Dental Divas Go to Disney report). We have done this before in 2003 but he wasn’t even 1 yet so he never really knew we were gone for a long time. This time he is 2 and knows that he will be staying at Aunty Pam’s house while Mommy and Daddy go to “floweeda”(as he says). I know he will have a blast with his cousins, but still have that guilt of not taking him.
Our flight takes off at 7:50pm and I’m getting worried about all the fog that has set in. I check in online and our flight is on time but other flights are delayed or canceled. I drove Jim to work today so I could pick him up from work and go straight to the airport from there. I had so much stuff to lug down to the car by myself! Jameson was getting excited to go to the office and see the gals and by 4 we were off.
Jim finished up his last patient early, changed in to his airplane clothes while I switched Jameson’s car seat to Pam’s car and transferred his luggage to hers as well. 5:30 rolls around and we kiss Jameson goodbye, but he hardly notices we are leaving because he is having fun with Pam and my other DS Kathy.
It only took 20 minutes to get to the airport and the fog is getting thicker and thicker. Jim says they take off all the time in fog but I disagree with him and am getting nervous about our flight leaving at all. We park in the long term parking and wait for the tram to the terminal. The tram comes and the driver tells us that all flights are canceled!! NOOOOOOOOO!!!! See Jim I told you. I keep thinking well we could be put on the first flight out tomorrow and that would still get us most of the day blah blah blah. We get up to Southwest’s counter and tell us that we would be going, maybe. Our luggage gets checked in and we have a boarding pass but it’s still a 50-50 chance.
We get a snack at McDonalds and wait by the gate. There are no planes at the airport at all! People are everywhere and it’s a little crazy. People are yelling at the Southwest workers like the fog is their fault. I just keep looking at the gate to see if a Southwest employee comes over to get ready to debark the plane and load ours. Sure enough just before 7:15 he comes over and makes the announcement that the plane is 5 minutes away from landing and we will take off on time! YES!!!!!!!!!!! In fact our plane will be the first all day to take off on time and the first to take off at all since this morning. As group “A” was called to board the SW guy asked if everyone could get on as quickly as possible because a 1 degree change in temperature would doom us. Surprisingly everyone did get right on and no one lollygagged getting settled. I crossed my fingers and we made it up and off into the air; we were on our way!
It was a smooth flight and I brought my brand new laptop with me to watch “Curb your Enthusiasm” the complete 2nd season DVD’s (Jim had his new Ipod to listen to). It really passed the time and I got to watch one whole DVD before we had to put away the electronic devices. We used Tiffany Town Car this time and had a great driver whose name I forget. He was very friendly and loved WDW (unfortunately you don’t get that too often from the TTC drivers).
We arrived at Pop in record time hardly any traffic that late at night and I ran right in to check in while Jim handled the bags and tipping our driver. We got all the requests I asked for, the 60’s, the building closest to the Classic Hall, 4th floor. Our room overlooked the Hippy Dippy pool and was close to the Yo-Yo stairwell. We unpacked and I sent an e-mail back home. This was my first time brining a laptop and e-mailing away from home. I loved it and brought with us in February when we went to St. Pete Beach. And so did everyone I e-mailed everyday ( I would also send pictures). We didn’t call Jameson as it was too late and we would call first thing in the morning. It was time for bed but there was just one problem we had 2 full size beds and we are used to a king. We ended up sleeping in both beds….. you can tell we have been married for 8 years! We fell asleep and apart not being able to kick Jim to stop snoring it was a good nights sleep.
Next up: Our first full day in the world

Plans for the day: Magic Kingdom, Dinner at Chefs de France, Adventures Club and Comedy Warehouse for the evening
We woke up today to rain! WAAAAAAAA. The last 2 times I have been to the Magic Kingdom it has rained. We got up, showered, dressed and were at Everything Pop for breakfast by 7:30. The place was deserted, which would lull me into thinking that hotel wouldn’t be that crowded, HA! We called DS Pam and Jameson was doing great. He asked for us but was satisfied with that we would be coming home soon. He was going to go sliding today so he was happy about that.
Jim by the Yo-Yo and just before it really started to rain
The view from our room
The Hippy Dippy pool
We finished up breakfast and bought ponchos for both of us. Not only is it raining but it’s pretty chilly too. I brought my umbrella that I bought on the last trip and had a big wind breaker on as well. We headed back to our room to get our stuff and that is when the heavens really opened. We spent 10 seconds in the room before we turned around and headed to the bus stop.
Luckily the bus didn’t take too long come and we were able to get seats with all our rain gear on. 15 minutes later we were at the gates to the Magic Kingdom and into the bag check line. This trip I never took off my travel purse that slings over my shoulder, I just would open it up for security and they would peak in.
Ahhhhhhh it’s so good to be “home”. I just love that first day at MK walking through the tunnel towards Main Street just being able to get a glimpse of the castle and then voila your smack dab in magic. Love it! As we walked down MS I was giving Jim a watered down version of the Keys to the Kingdom tour, remembering bits and pieces of it from October. He was impressed with my knowledge, but please Jim aren’t you always. We went into the emporium to get me a hat. I didn’t bring a baseball hat this trip and bought one to keep the rain out of my face. Even with an umbrella, hooded poncho the rain would still seep through and drip on me. I knew it wasn’t going to get any better so I got another baseball hat. We didn’t feel like getting any more wet so we skipped SM and BTMR for now. We went on POC, Haunted Mansion and a few others that escape my mind at this moment.
Jim really wanted to see Mickey’s Philharmagic so we headed over to FL. I love this movie. This was Jim’s first time seeing it and immediately fell in love with it. He is a big fan of “It’s tough to be a bug” so I knew he would love this one. Now he can’t decide which one he likes better.
By this time it was time for lunch at Columbia Harbor House. I usually eat at Peco’s Bills but liked this place after eating here during our Keys to the Kingdom tour. Jim got the chicken finger and fish basket and I got just the chicken fingers. We ate on the bridge overlooking Liberty Square and Fantasy Land. It’s my new secret spot! Not many people venture upstairs, let alone eat on the bridge.
The rain was letting up so we went back out and just took our time to really look at things around the park. We were drooling over the flowers that were planted everywhere. It makes me sick to think we won’t be able to plant anything outside for another 5 months! We shopped for a bit on Main Street, got lots of things for Jameson. We thought we would head back to the hotel to nap and then head over to Epcot earlier than we planned.
Coming up: Dinner in France and a wicked awesome time at Pleasure Island
