Me, Muffin and the Oasis of the Seas!!-TR - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Mike and the kids all love corned beef hash and if that’s on the buffet I know they’ll have it.
Three free drinks!? Per night?! Disney platinum perks don’t look as good now - they get one free dinner or brunch at Palo, a bottle of proseco, and can book things earlier than anyone else. I’d love 3 drinks per night!
I agree! I think we should lobby Disney about it...
Well I love the looks of things so far! I just found this and read thru all 4 pages. Glad I got in fairly close to the start. Your Captains Table dinner looks scrumptious! Gosh if we didn't already have a cruise booked in May of 2019 I'd surely sign up for the Splendour. Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip.
This was a great start to your trip. And, the winning streak begins... Can't wait to hear about it. We never go to the casinos. (I wouldn't even know how to start playing.) I do think I"m going to have a little fun with Bingo on our cruise next month though. It seems people have so much fun playing, even though it seems expensive to me.
It is fairly expensive but honestly, it is so fun!! You should definitely give it a try!!

This is our problem with Disney. RCCL has an amazing loyalty program and it makes it hard to steer away from it! We absolutely loved our cruise on the Dream but RCCL has beautiful ships, great itineraries and it is just as much fun for us for about half the price, including going to the casino!

How fun for you guys!! Where is your cruise in May going to and on what ship?

As most of you know, Muffin and I really appreciate good food and good wine. After last night's fabulous meal at the Chef's Table, tonight's meal had a lot to live up to, but having eaten at this fabulous restaurant on several occasions, we were both confident that we would not be disappointed! :
This dinner was included in the 5 night dining package we bought for 100 bucks each. Drinks were extra, but everything else was on the package. My absolute favorite item at 150 Central Park is the Cucumber Martini. I have tried and tried to replicate this drink at home but mine just doesn't taste as delicious!! But I am jumping ahead!!
We made a reservation for 6 PM and when we got to the restaurant, we requested to sit in the big chairs there! We love these oversized chairs and there was one table left that included them, so we snagged that table. But then we turned around and behind us in line were Susie and Steve!! So! We quickly gave up our awesome chairs for a table for 4 instead. We were not one bit sorry as we had another terrific meal with terrific company!!
Our waiter, Gus was phenomenal for starters!!
We all ordered drinks next. Of course, I got the cucumber martini. Muffin had Chardonnay, Steve had a chocolate martini and Susie also had wine.
Muffin and Steve
Susie and Me
Our first course was a delicious bread basket with unsalted butter. Thisis because part of this course are the wonderful salts to try!!
Gus making my martini fresh tableside!!
The finished perfect product!!
Our salt dish
These salts consist of:
ALAEA (Hawaiian sea salt)
KALA NAMAK (Black mineral salt from India)
SEL DE MAR (Mediterranean sea salt from France)
SEL GRIS (Mediterranean grey sea salt from France)
SALISH (Smoked Alder salt, from Washington State).
MURRAY RIVER (Pink flake salt from Australia)
We liked them all except the Black Mineral Salt which seriously tasted like Sulphur!
Steve and I next had SLOW ROASTED BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP toasted spiced pumpkin seeds, watercress, pumpkin seed oil
and I so wanted to lick the bowl!
Muffin and Susie had TUNA TARTARE* pickled ginger, garlic aïoli, scallions, sesame seeds, shrimp chips
also prepared tableside:
For entrees, those guys all got PAN ROASTED SEA SCALLOPS chickpeas, chorizo, escarole, saffron-clam broth:
And I got MAHOGANY BLACK COD whipped parsnip, baby bok choy, mustard sauce:
Everything was to die for!! We all agreed this was just as good as last night's meal!! We were all simply too stuffed for dessert.
After our meal, we went to see Cats. This was the full length Broadway production and it was wonderful!!
Then we headed to the casino where I won 400 bucks on a 10 dollar blackjack table and then I won another 800 bucks on a slot machine!
This finished off our night beautifully and we headed up to bed.
Tomorrow: Labadee comes and goes so quickly!!

What a wonderful meal and everything looked so good? That's a good deal on the dining package to eat at the better restaurants, instead of being thrown in with the masses for the rotation! Love all the nice touches with several things being prepared table side, which is always a great plus to a good meal. That's why I love V & A's as there is quite a bit of this.
You're luck continues to amaze me and I don't know how you do it in the casino! Just wondering if a warning goes out when they see you coming?

Dinner looked yummy! I have some black salt from Iceland that I haven’t tried yet. Now I’m afraid it will taste like sulphur!
Those were some winnings in the casino! The most I ever won was $60 on dime slots.

I know I'd love it! When you go single you pay the full price for the room as if they were two of you. Part of the problem. RCCL is not that bad price wise and hope to do one in a couple of years. Hope one of the ones you're on. I checked your January cruise and not a lot availability for rooms. Though cheaper than Disney and restaurants are better as DCL only has Palo and Remy (Fantasy and Dream only).

We are doing a short cruise from LA to San Diego and Victoria BC and then into Vancouver where we will spend 3 days exploring Vancouver. It is on the Princess line. I am dying to try RCCL though. They look fascinating! I am just getting my husband back into the thought of cruising. We took an Alaskan cruise last July on Princess as well.
