Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

FOTLK was....................THE SAME!
Is that good or bad????
Not sure, but it was a nice feeling that with a MAJOR change, some things can remain the same (familiar, heat warming, comfortable) SO take a hint WDW
STOP changing SO MANY THINGS THAT WE LOVE!!!
In the future,IF there is an absolutely need to change something, PLEASE keep in mind that some of us (old farts) like/LOVE things the way they are!

I felt it was the same, too, but that made me very happy as this is a show that I love as it is.

Great morning at AK! I'm glad it was easy enough to change your FP+ selections to get to the park earlier. Very cool that you got to meet Heather too!

Dinner at Narcossee's looked delicious!

Hope the room service trays get picked up soon, that's just gross.

Narcossee was the final straw in the "Appropriate clothing battle" I SURRENDER!
I can't take it anymore. If Disney isn't going to "enforce" their own policies regarding dress codes, then this is another example of management just "phoning it in" I've not seen the last flip flops, sleeveless Tshirts, ratty looking shorts, ect. at the nicer places like Narcossee, or Sanaa, or California Grill, or Le Cellier... I will not succumb to wearing TRASHY clothing (no matter how "comfortable") I will respect the people who work their A$$ES off working hard in those nice places. I will dress appropriately no matter if it's a hassle or not going back to the resort and changing, ect.
As far as the people who DO wear inappropriate clothing to a nice place, YOU are the people ruining the experience for EVERYONE. There's a great saying that says "A rising tide raises all ships" You people are NOT rising the tide! You can wallow in the muck all you want, I/We won't be joining you!

I sooo agree with you. However, since we did LeCellier on our Epcot tour day, we were half way in between. See my signature pic for explanation. If I had been doing it on a non-tour day, I would have dressed up. Atleast we weren't in flip flops, Ed took off his hat for dinner and we over tipped the waiter to compensate for our attire.

I agree with you, Chuck, but it's a losing battle. All we can do is to hold up our end and try not to let it get us down. I'm sure you saw more of this on the cruise. It really irks me on the cruise, because dressing for dinner is (or should be) part of the cruise experience.

Speaking of Narcossee, I'm always impressed at the level of comfortability we seem to have with our waiter. MostAll of the time we know what we're going to order months in advance. On the walk to Narcossee from GF we just know we're having filet, and lobster. When we walk in,we are so anticipating that fabulous meal. we sit, and here come the waiter/waitress. The FINAL road block on our way to that dinner. BUT the 4-5 times we've been they they have added so much to the meal. Their personalities, humor, and knowledge make that meal even more special. MAYBE it's the fact we dress nice, maybe it's the way they always are,but whatever it is they make the experience "Magic"

Chuck totally agree that wait staff is a large part of any meal and can be at times a deciding factor on do we come back or not. As for fellow diners well When I look in the mirror I am looking at the person RESPONSABLE for MY happyness. What others do I have no control over only what I do

The tray situation had us angry as well. We did switch up a lot as we went along!

Sounds like you had a very nice time at AK and at dinner
Made us wonder about maintenance around the place. It wasn't like there wasn't any mousekeepers around. We saw them every day.

Sounded like a nice relaxing day at AK and around the resort and a wonderful dinner at Narcoossee's!
I was wondering if she was working. We looked for her last year on the Jungle Cruise but no luck then.

We tend to always go back to our room mid afternoon for a dip in the pool/hot tub and then dress for dinner. It's just become our habit.

We did see a bit of it on the cruise. But we didn't go overboard (sorry about the pun) dressing for dinner ourselves. A nice pair of capris and a nice blouse or a sundress for me and I think Chuck wore a nice shirt and jeans or dress shorts. We were never in tanks or flip flops though. I think we seem to be presentable. But you are right - it's not all that far to go back to your room and get dressed for dinner on a cruise.

Sunday Oct 26

Today was a lazy day! Up around 9 am for me and around 10 am for Chuck. Tea on the balcony with the animals and some fb/pp time online while Chuck watched the Lions game (they were playing in London so the game was very early!) I went to the gift shop and got some doughnuts for breakfast. Then we went walking around the resort looking at all the neat things around there. The proverbs and tchotchkes around the resort are pretty cool! (I think I posted most of those pics in the last update - oops)

Pretty soon, it was time for our lunch ADR at Sanaa! We had a wonderful time and our server, Dan, was outstanding! He was playful yet informative. He liked his job and you could tell because he was good at it. He even brought some Disney magic for me at the end of our meal by sneaking in a light up Tink clip with our bill!

Bread service

Tandoori chicken sandwich

Vindaloo chicken and Diablo shrimp (I think)

Dan and Chuck!

"Hey - what ya eatin'?"

After stuffing ourselves and meandering back to the room and noticed that the dirty dish tray was FINALLY gone! Chuck had said that if it wasn't he would be taking it down and handing it over to the staff at the desk. We got ready to head over to the pool and had our usual pool/hot tub/cocktail combo. Then afterward we got dressed and headed out to DTD for some retail therapy! I got an Alex and Ani Animal Kingdom bracelet and Chuck got an Oakley backpack and a stainless steel Curl water bottle. After a while, we decided we were getting hungry and headed into Splitsville to see if they were taking walk ins. They were! We were actually the only table our waiter had. There was a company party going on (wouldn't that be cool!) - I think it was Energizer. They had almost the entire top floor rented out and were providing bowling, alcohol, eats, pool tables, darts, etc. And they had recognition going on so every so often someone would come on over the microphone and give some long winded speech about how lucky they were to have their job. Anyway, we had our "personal" server - Kenny. He liked to chit chat and checked on us often. Like I said, this section was closing and we were his last and only table. I had a Juicy Lucy, which was basically a very cheesy double burger. Very good but I always thought a Juicy Lucy had the cheese on the INSIDE. It was still one of the best burgers I've had in Disney! I washed it down with a really good margarita! Chuck had a Hurricane (drink) and a Dragon Roll. He said his sushi was even better than the one he had at California Grill! Yeah - it was that good! We found about 3 other things that we each wanted to try on the menu and immediately started thinking about when we could squeeze in another visit. Alas, it won't be until next year.

I don't have THIS size Duffy!

Drinks!

We made our way back to the busses and ultimately back to Kidani. Chuck hit the hay but I stayed up and went over some receipts and notes while watching some tv. Then, I too went to bed. Our lazy day today was due to the fact that Typhoon Lagoon was closed for refurb. We had originally planned to do TL on Sat and then AK on Sunday but we decided to forgo TL and just do AK on Sat - which left Sunday open. I think it worked out perfectly! A little bit of time to relax and go slow!

Up next - our first F&WF (where we actually ate something) and another PP meet!
