As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I'm baaaaack! Melanie has totally guilted me in to doing some semblance of a report by posting the final 3 days of her cruise all in one morning.
So, we said goodbye to the kids when they left for school and then I finished packing and it was time to leave for the airport. We live about 15 minutes from Dulles Airport, so we were pulling in to the daily garage in no time. The flight was uneventful, as was our walk to collect our bag and get to DME. We walked straight on to a bus and after only a few minutes pulled out and we were on the way to Port Orleans FQ.
The CM who checked us in was VERY chatty, which while nice, was also slowing us down from getting to DHS. We only had a short time to spend there, as it was closing at 7 (and we had Sanaa at 8:30). While it seemed like forever, it wasn't that long before we were checking out our room.
We only spent a minute there and then raced out to get a bus to the Studios.
You may have guessed from the picture that our first stop was TOT. LOVE that ride!! When that was finished we both realized we were a little hungry, and it was still 4 hours until dinner. We saw something on the menu that sounded icky, but strangely appealing - a hotdog topped with Mac & cheese and bacon! We decided to try it - sharing one between the two of us.
It was tasty (albeit so bad for us!) and I wished I could have another all weekend! Luckily I could distract myself with all that F&WF food.
We made our way toward TMM as we had FP for that soon. But we were stopped by MS&S show. There was an older woman in the audience playing a mean air guitar. So much that they pulled her out to do an air guitar solo and then they gave her her very own inflatable guitar!
We had a great time in the Midway, and DH actually beat me for the first time ever, AND he earned high score in the car (and yes, there were other people in with us).
We saw that Buzz & Woody were out, so did a photo op with them and then just had time to do the GMR before the park was closing. We grabbed a bus over to AKL, Kidani, and hung out with night vision goggles until our table was ready. I was trying not to correct the woman who kept pointing out the okapi as zebras.....
Next - I finally understand why people love Sanaa.
I missed the PTR but am here for the TR! What a great tradition. DH & I are exactly 2 days apart and spent our 30ths at WDW so I said we needed to spend every birthday ending in '0' @ the world.

Seems like a good plan! DH has now celebrated 30, 40 & 50 at WDW. And I guess the other tradition is our anniversary on DCL - that was our 20th, and will be our 25th this summer! Traditions are important, right?!
Oh, goody! You came back! A very easy trip to the world. Your room looks very nice. I do like the new all-white bed tops with the stripe of color. I guess all the resorts have that now. A fun time at DHS, but I can't wait for Sanaa....

We have had many, many meals at Boma, as it is DD's favorite spot. We'd never been to Sanaa, and were so eager to try it after reading so many rave reviews here on PP and knowing how many people count it as a must-do.
I started with a yummy (but a bit sweet) drink:
We HAD to have the bread service, after hearing about it so long, and it did not disappoint. The only problem with it was that I had to share!! Our server had suggested combing the tamarind chutney and the coriander chutney, so those were two of our choices. The other was the coconut chutney. We had naan, ginger garlic naan, and onion kulcha.
For dinner we shared the two entrees - one the slow cooked with gravy, choosing butter chicken and Durban chicken.
The other was the special of the night, a steak and shrimp on a pap base (no notes, and a hazy memory, sorry, so I'm sure there was a better description on the menu!).
Both were delicious, but truthfully, the bread service for me was the standout of the meal. Next time, and there WILL be a next time, I'd be tempted to get that as my meal. And not share.
Neither of us had room for dessert, and thought maybe we should've had one entree to share, and then a dessert.
We took the bus from AKL to DTD, as we realized that was our only chance to do a little shopping. Then we took the boat back to POFQ, and stopped off to get DH a Mickey Bar (since he hadn't had dessert yet) before calling it a night.

Great food photos! I love Sanaa. It's such a beautifully designed restaurant in addition to the great food and service. I've ordered just the bread service and tomato paneer soup for lunch. It's still too much food for one person, but I take the left-over naan back to the room with me.
We loved our room at the POFQ and I have to follow suite with chatty CM's. Happy to hear the positive review of Sanaa. It's on our list for our next visit to the world. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on F&WF. :-)

Count me in with the others who are glad you are writing again even though I missed the official restart last night. Great looking room. You all squeezed a nice bit of fun into your time at DHS. So glad you two enjoyed Sanaa, and that bread service is sooooo good! Can't wait to hear about your F&WF tastings.
